Is there a more Russian way to die?

Yeah, starving to death.
>>8856436
Yes
My fathers friend died in Siberia in his 30s. He was out drinking, and when he was walking home from the bar he slipped on ice and got fell. He was so fucked up that he just fell asleep there on the ground. He was too drunk to realize how cold it was or anything, and he just died from the cold.
Thoughts on Marcus Aurelius?

I read meditations and it was ok. A few decent observations but his theism informed a lot of his conclusions so much of it felt useless to a fedora tipper like me. To be fair, he didn't think his letters would be collected, published and consumed by a massive audience so I don't blame him for not justifying all his arguments.

Looks boring, right? Some old dusty tome from the bookshelf of your old pa? You think their might be some fancy silk bookmark to mark your place in this double-covered sleeping pill?
Wel,l guess what. It aint boring. This is Thomas Pynchon bitch. He writes about history.... but with a twist. There's talkin dogs, people with names like Cherrycoke, drugzZz, and all kinds of wicked shit.
This ain't your granddad's literature. NO YAWNING ALLOWED.
Thomas Pynchon, that wily wordsmith, has done it again! He's penned a scene that'll make you howl with laughter! Come on down the toilet to experience the hilarity! A postmodern farce - with an emphasis on the FAR! That's "far out, man" as old Pynchon himself would say. Prepare yourself for a psychedelic excursion into the realm of the FUNknown! (Just don't tell mom and dad. ;))

Can anyone recommend a book with poems? Preferably an anthology of sorts.
I've only really ever read edgar alan poe and some of shakespeare's sonnets, so I really know nothing about poetry.

I asked for an anthology because I'd prefer variety. I'd also like to keep my reading secular.

Help me build a character for a story by asking me questions. Any question is acceptable, I'll answer it to the best of my ability (in character). Some basics:
Age: 50,000 years.
Gender: Male.
Species: Half-human.
Setting: Fantasy.
What's the other half?

Other half? I don't know what you mean.
Wooooah, those are some wacky shoes. What size feet do you have?

>As Simon pulled the sheets over himself he felt warm. It's the same kind of warm you feel when you meet that special girl with a beautiful soul and a kind heart. The kind of girl who you just instantly can make jokes with and listen to her problems with other men on your picnics. He knew that nothing could ever pull him from this happy, warm moment. As he began to dream about cleaning the house for her to show how much he cared, he felt a strange sensation coming from his groin. He lied there helplessly as his member began to release his love all over his sheets.

I didn't read any of the shit the Eco quotes from and I still had a good time. Yeah, I missed references. You'd need like three fucking Ph.D.s to cover everything, so I didn't even try.

Quite good, though I think The Name of the Rose is Eco's masterpiece. The middle of FP can be somewhat tedious but it's all for a good cause and the last 100 pages pack a wallop. The book is definitely enhanced with some staring knowledge of conspiracy theories like the Templars and Rosicrucians. Just don't get too bogged down in the details the first time and extract as much as you can with what you know. On subsequent read-throughs try to mine more with the historical detail and allusions.

The Crying of Lot 49 and portions of Gravity's Rainbow are quite similar.
