So ive come into possesion of an sks for 150 bucks (im american) it looks like it honestly shouldnt function, but it does flawlessly, the parts not pitted or completly rusted are almost in the white, wood dinged up, but still ok color wise
So how do i make it into a mad max style post apocalyptic type rifle, something that looks like its been in the thick of it for 100 years, if i get enough good suggestions ill post it next week sometime,

You find yourself in charge of developing a new service rifle and cartridge for a 1930s power. The design goals are as follows:
>semi-automatic or select fire
>intermediate cartridge with good performance in a short 10-16" barrel
>cartridge goal: 250-300m point blank range on battlesight
>compact
>ability to use a standardized marksman (between 2 and 4x) scope
>cheapness and ease of manufacture
>some form of stripped clip or en bloc clip capacity
Keep in mind that you are basically limited to forging, milling, and casting. Initially, this gun will be given to artillerymen, vehicle crews, etc.
What do you come up with?

I ordered CLP and it says not to expose to temperatures of 122f and it's pretty hot out. The can was warm when I got it from the ups, but not really really warm. Do you think it's ok? It's the spray can type.

So I know I shouldn't shoot commercial .308 and I haven't. But today at my LGS they had a box of 50 magtech rounds marked 7.62x51 Ball.. I usually shoot Privi Partisan 7.62x51 m80 ball 147gr with no problems, I've fired Aguila 7.62 marked, and ZQI 7.62 marked
Thoughts? The primer is DEFINITELY pierced and there was a bit more smoke after firing

Perhaps it was a rogue bad primer. Did the round exit the gun ok? If so try a few more to check and then demand a new box and then some
