I hear about Vepr rifles every now and then around here, but never the hunter.
I recently made the move to Alaska and have been looking for a decent innawoods rifle (presently have on an old nugget that's a bit of a hassle to lug around), and as such I happen to be sitting on plenty of nugget food. After browsing around a bit for something I could feed with the same round I found the hunter. Does anyone here have experience with it, particularly when subjected to innawoods/winter conditions?
>just get an X
I'm definitely open to suggestions, though I do generally prefer conventional and thumbhole stocks over pistol grips ergonomically and aesthetically. I've been hearing varying reports on what's really needed in terms of caliber in case of bear or moose, but I figure nugget food means I don't have to diversify, and it will definitely be enough. While I don't intend to use the rifle for hunting regularly, defense against wild animals/hunting for food if necessary is the primary concern. Not sure if it matters, honestly; I've been a range queen for a long time and not had to worry about it.
"Hey guys I want a 10/22"
>lol unreliable
"What if it had an AK action? Those are reliable!"
>lol still .22 weak af
"Well what if it was 7.62 real fuckin NATO?"
>.308 AK 10/22?
>.....
>It's like an AK for fudds! Let's do it!

Seriously though, the .308 Vepr with 20-25rd mags is awesome, the nugget Vepr is also awesome. My grandad has a Vepr Hunter in .308 so I stand by it but if you're sitting on a pile of nugget food, go with that if you want. I've tried the nugget Vepr (not the Hunter) version at a range because a younger guy had one and he let me burn a few mags with it, was a nice shooter and felt great. I prefer pistol-grips myself, but you should only invest in a gun that you know you're gonna be comfortable with and enjoy.

Good info, thanks anon
Can't make up my mind. Have $750 saved up so far. I really want this springfield 1911 for about $900 but idk if I should just stick with a $500-$600 polymer pistol like the Sig sp2022. California so my options are limited. Any suggestions?
>>30762206
get the 1911 you want and not a shitty Sig
If you are going to spend $900-1000 on a 1911, get the real thing, get a Colt, not some Brazilian made rip off.
>>30762300
California gun laws make that difficult. Also, gun prices are significantly higher in CA. If that is the gun I think it is, it costs 700 MSRP in free states, but much higher in CA.
Hello /k/ I've been looking into purchasing my first gun and was wondering anyone had any suggestions for me. It would just be a starter and thus should be cheap fun to shoot would be nice. I was looking at the Remington 783 ( pic related) in .223 as my first one. Would like to try hunting with my uncle in the future and if not then starting a collection of sorts.
>>30761985
.223 is relatively weak for hunting large game.
Try getting a .30-30 or a .30-06
>>30762014
I'd love to. But unfortunately I'm in school and live with my parents was looking at a 308 but they wouldn't allow me to keep it at the house so I had to downsize the caliber because they don't want me to spend money on bigger rounds if I don't like shooting (I will). For hunting id likely borrow one of my uncles rifles. But I'd like to get some practice in before I tried actually shootin. Something. Only guns I've shot were pistols so long range I have no practice.

Sorry not a 308 a 30/06
How come GDR troops stood against the West so easily? Did they not realise their fathers were all Nazi troops that fought the Soviets? Did they not realise that it was the Soviet Union that destroyed Germany?
I can't imagine being a 20 year old GDR private where my dad was probably a Nazi and I somehow have to side with the Communists and stand against Germans in the West.
>>30761975
How could west germans stand against the soviets blah blah blah muh dresden blah blah
truth is your average GDR soldier wasnt an autist strormwinnie on /k/, that probably had something to do with it
Kind of hard to appreciate Nazis when your childhood memories of their reign consist mostly of bombings and food rationing.
>>30761988
One of the biggest things about nazi ideology was anti-bolshevism, and then they become Bolsheviks themselves so quickly
Can someone make an infographic that details all of the major mass killings over the last few years perpetrated without guns or which have occurred in countries with restrictive firearms laws?
>>30761925
why dont you
I don't see how him choosing an extremely soft target like literal retards advances your point.
>>30761946
Distinct lack of visual artistry.
Alright /k/, lets see how many of you can do this...
Name a battle rifle that Isn't the SCAR-H, FN FAL, G3 or M14
>>30761876
FG42
STGw 57
AMT Rifle
Zastava M77
Hakim 8mm Rifle
MAS Rifle
Galil ARM .308
Valmet M76 .308
SR-25
HK 417
SVT-40
PSL
Does anyone on /k/ have a 55x series rifle? Do you like it, what are your experiences? I'm planning on (later on) buying a 551a1 and putting a swiss lower on it, then calling it good.
>>30761841
Used a 550 during my military service. I love the drum sight and the rifle's overall sturdiness. Ergos are ok - they are a mix of AR selector, AR bolt release, FAL gas regulator, AK mag catch and AK reciprocating charging handle. What I didn't like was the length and the weight. Also, while the rifle is of high quality, the gas tube can rust even with care - which I find not something acceptable on a 3000 bucks rifle.
>>30761958
I wonder if that issue could be fixed with clearcoat?
I have one.
The good:
>Accuracy
>Reliability
>Diopter sights
>Folding stock
The bad:
>Expensive as fuck, since for the same price you can get a better rifle. 3500 USD for a rifle like this? lol no.
>Lower starts to wobble a lot after several years of use
>Not made for modularity, every aftermarket piece is expensive
>Made for prone shooting and this can be seen with the weight of the rifle
>Mags are expensive as fuck, 80 Swiss Francs a piece
Basically this rifle is revered by people that: a) Never used any other high quality semi auto rifle in 5.56; b) Think that Unobtainium = Holy Grail because they can't own one.
It's not a bad rifle. It's used widely in Switzerland for sports shooting due to the fact that only a handful of other rifles are allowed for 300 meter shooting competitions.
If our shooting federation decided to let people use other 5.56 NATO rifles they would see how overpriced this rifle really.
China/Indonesia wants to invade them, how can they protect such huge coastline while having relatively few people?
only worth invading the important parts. aint no strategic value in rocks and kangaroos
If you wanna control the country you gotta take the important coastline and cities, which are more defensible
>>30761809
With Victory
Emu alliance.
What are good candies to have while shooting?
>>30761565
Ghetto Candies.
Used to claim to hate them, missed them as soon as they were gone.
>>30761565
Whoppers, Twizzlers, Reese's pieces, etc. just about anything that comes in multiple small pieces.
And bullets.
Also weird ass captcha

Have those things ever been sold in stores?
Anyone have any more pics of this Kalashnikov prototype that was the precursor to the AKS-74U

How much did Rhodesia's shitty camo contribute to their loss in the war?
plain and simple rhodesia got cucked
>>30761290
100% contribution
It made the men so beta they couldn't fight effectively.
Notice how it has a following among the spergiest of spergs. Telling, huh?
Not at all? The war was lost by politics, the guys on the ground punched far above their weight from start to finish.
Why is 7.62x51mmR a NATO round while 7.62x54 is not? I know this is probably a stupid question, but it has been bugging me all night. Rather than research it like a normie, I figured /k/ would know better. Thank you in advance.
>R
no
you sorta answered your own question
because they dont want to use the same ammo that the enemies use, to prevent enemy combatants from looting the ammo from corpses.
Quick, what are some semis not covered by the ban, I remember there was like 2

Anybody else's blood boil when they see retards posting guns with pens and/or pencils jammed through their trigger guards?
Who the fuck does that and how do we teach them a fucking lesson?
>>30760995
You think that's bad? Boy I have a treat for you. Here's a pic from another thread that is up right now.
nope, doesn't bother me a bit

Just your's sport. Calm down. Life is better when you aren't sperging out at every little thing.
