What exactly does "littoral combat" mean anyway? And why does it require a specialized ship with with an aluminum hull? And why does it have a 57 mm gun when boats 1/10 its displacement have 76 mm guns? And if it is meant for shallow water, why does it have such a huge draft?????
What were they thinking?
Hence why the program has been cut and the ships that have already been built are being relegated to training duties in the USA.
It's been on absolute clusterfuck of failure.

It means ignoring 50 years of missile developments to plink at a beach-head with a peashooter while leaving yourself exposed to 19th century artillery.

do you ever feel guilty about what the America government/army does ?
Also is what america is doing right or wrong?

>do you ever feel guilty about what the America government/army does ?
Why would I? Geopolitics is a dirty game, we're hardly the only country with blood on our hands
No, why the fuck would I? I didn't commit any war crimes personally. If you're asking if I'm sympathetic to the plight of those who were permanently disfigured and/or killed by US soldiers then, yeah -- I guess so. You're going to have to be more specific if you want me to answer your other question though.
I saw the battle buddy thread and thought a nice battle wagon thread would go along with it nicely.

Are they for the sun?
Are all IDF personel issued with tactical afros?
Do they keep their shekels in them?
Tactical bean bag chairs?
Can someone enlighten me please.

>Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said on Monday he would visit Russia and China this year to chart an independent foreign policy and "open alliances" with two powers with historic rivalries with the United States.
>Duterte said the Philippines was at the "point of no return" in its relations with former colonial ruler the United States, so he wanted to strengthen ties with others, and picked two global powers with which Washington has been sparring with on the international political stage.
>He last week declared he would soon - and often - visit China, with which ties remain frosty over a South China Sea arbitration ruling won by the Philippines in July. He said Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev was expecting him in Moscow.
>"I am ready to not really break (U.S.) ties but we will open alliances with China and... Medvedev, he is awaiting there for my visit," Duterte told reporters, adding he would open up the "other side of the ideological barrier".

>MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte says he has decided to "cross the Rubicon" in his ties with the United States and will open trade alliances and offer long-term land leases to "the other side of the ideological barrier," China and Russia.
>He said Monday he is "not really" breaking ties with the U.S., his country's long-time treaty ally, but will open all areas of trade and commerce to China and Russia. He said they will be able to lease land for up to 120 years.
>Dutere said he will travel to China soon to talk to President Xi Jinping, and then to Japan and Russia.
>Dutere has had an uneasy relationship with the U.S., which has criticized his bloody crackdown on illegal drugs in which more than 3,000 people have died.

In France there's a mini storm about the replacement of the FAMAS by the HK 416, mostly about a political and strategic point of view (obviously a huge mistake if you ask me).
But there are also discussions about the efficiency of this glorious peace maker, some say it was a mess and some say it was their best companion.
So what is the truth about the FAMAS? Evil or good?
I'm sure this board has the answer.
>>31465946
It's pretty mixed. While in the beginning it only shot steel cased ammunition, it was able to shoot brass with a reinforced alloy in the F4 and F5 ammunition. It's recoil operation, Lever delayed blowback, was pretty simple. The FAMAS could have continued if the French weren't too damn poor and had the socialists didn't killed their firearms industry. If anything, a major upgrade to the G2 would have been great with its STAGNAG Compatibility (However, it was badly delayed). Even a change of barrels to be compatible for M855/SS109 ammo would have helped and a way to help reduce felt recoil would be necessary
Isn't the fundamental problem that they are getting old and worn out, and they can't build any more of them? I know the magazines have been troublesome for some time now.
Basically the reason why they can't build any is because there are no more large French small-arms manufacturers left. A damn shame if you ask me. I wish France and Britain were still in the business of creating wacky and unique firearms.
>>31466014
This, keeping the firearms industry afloat is now pretty much out of the question. Instead of spending funding on FELIN to come to the same conclusion everyone else has, they should've build more Valorise variants.
I think a domestically produced 18" M16 variant would be more cost effective than the HK416, but that's just me.

Which btw do CZ magazines work with them? How did they manage a smaller capacity than the standard 18rd CZ mags now?
How much of an "open-secret" is smoking weed, or doing other drugs within the military? Sometimes I hear the guys mention about how much shit they've done on the weekend, or on leave.
>>31465227
You're one piss test or health and welfare away from your drug use being a real "open" secret.
Also it's almost guaranteed you're getting a piss test after any leave.
>>31465227
>Also it's almost guaranteed you're getting a piss test after any leave.
Is this a US thing? We get an annual.
>>31465227
I got away with it on leave but then again to the best of my knowledge there were only three people that did it and two of them got caught. You will more than likely get caught if you smoke weed regularly in the USMC they drug test random and any time you come back from leave.

Anyone ever seen a major accident in a gun range?
I work at an indoor range in WA state. The range officer was explaining to a lady and her husband that they absolutely have to wear ear protection, much to the woman's dismay. She grudgingly bought some earplugs and her husband wanted to shoot a Super Redhawk in .454 Casull.
Fast forward a few minutes. We saw that she took out her earplugs on the video monitoring system and we scrambled to get her out asap. By the time we got to the door, the dude already shot a round. We got her out and tried talking to her, but she couldn't hear a damned thing. Called 911 and they wheeled her off. Last thing I heard, she lost her hearing permanently and had one hell of a concussion.
>>31464878
Bitch deserved it.
>>31464885
I don't exactly feel bad for her, I just think its a shame that there are two people out there who now probably hate guns because of one woman's shitty choices.

I'm a armed DPSST trainer for Oregon.
I've trained the local police departments, security and private investigators to get them their re-certified armed carry and new carry permits.
The worst one I had was a young kid, couldn't be a day over 21 that worked as a desk clerk for a local police department.
He said that he never fired his service weapon before, only twice during his academy training. Anyways, the gun that he was issued, a Berretta M9a1.
The gun was almost bigger than himself when he had it at high ready, as he pulled the trigger the slide on the M9 flew off and got stuck in the foam on the ceiling.
The poor kid almost died because the police department bought used M9s from the Iraqi war surplus.
That was the last time I trained and re-certified people who have Berretta M9s.
Id have to say that private security companies are the easiest to train because our state requires lots of steps before you have the option to carry armed. Unlike the police forces as it is pretty much walked through holding hands.
Plus most companies don't skimp out on handguns and rifles than police bureaus do.
