Despite all of this, to answer OPs question, yes, I do feel a little guilty. I am but one person of ~300,000,000 in a country where I have little say in what happens to me let alone what our country does. I, like most others, don't take advantage of that say and the result is the only country capable of leading the global unionization for the good of humanity is run by corrupt idiots that exploit their people and the rest of the world.

Occasionally. I do feel that my government has its head up its ass pretty often and when I hear of certain specific incidents, I can feel bad for the poor schmucks who got blown away. But overall I don't let it get to me, I took a look around the world at countries that bent over backwards to apologize for past atrocities (looking at you Germany) and I realize that if we did that then we would slide further down the road to cuckdom. Also because in the grand game of realpolitik it could be seen as a sign of weakness and I suspect every last motherfucker we may have wronged even slightly will start lining up asking for apologies and some form of compensation. That's a can of worms we do not need.

As for our current course of action in terms of intervention, I wouldn't mind if we pulled back slightly. I feel that ever since Korea we have this mindset of not commiting fully to a conflict, or that if we do we do it in half-hearted increments that only make the war effort more haphazard/unorganized. In particular, Johnson's ramping up of the Vietnam War in very controlled escalations and the troop surges in Iraq/Afghanistan to me suggest that said conflicts were not being thought through and that despite reinforcing our presence in the war, we weren't going full war-mode (i.e., actually having congress declare war). The result is the ginormous clusterfucks we keep getting ourselves entrenched in. As far as our current course of action in the ME, I'd suggest either pulling out in the very near future or go in with the full weight of the military and curb stomp ISIS in its current iteration. They control physical territory, therefore they can be invaded and their infrastructure as a quasi-nation-state can be uprooted and destroyed. In a perfect world we would see some kind of joint Russian-American-Syrian effort, but we don't have that. Either way I want us out soon, when the oil dries up that place is going to be a shitstorm of epic proportions.

The reason why these suck in general though is they ignore the fact that 3rd world countries are rife with violence no matter what the local religion is. Not to mention that is makes suppositions about muslims from other nations without any evidence to back them up.
