The hurricane near Florida has me thinking - hurricanes do shit tons of damage, right? Katrina cost billions of dollars and killed thousands of people and if this one hits it'll do similar amounts of damage.
Why not make use of them instead of letting them hit us? If we could somhow catch the hurricane and keep it stored up, we could release it on Syria or release it on China/Russia if there's a huge war. That way we wouldn't have to deal with the hurricane damage and the hurricane would really fuck pu their shit. Is there an easy way to do this?
No.
>>31588154
maybe if we had the capability to harness the entire world's weather. If we had that kind of power, we wouldn't have to worry about russia or china at all.
>>31588164
well, that's a good question - why don't we have that kind of power? The US is the most advanced country in the world, we could probably start working on this
How would a .50 BMG handgun work? Is it even possible?
RIP in piss your wrists and eardrums. Even the BFR in .45-70 is pushing it.

Step in the right direction. Just need a semi auto now.
I envision it'll be like this, but a little bigger.
Can we get a lower receiver thread going? I'm going to a gun show this weekend what get/pay

I'm taking suggestions if you actually read what I wrote
Redpill me on 1911's.
Is the only reason to own one for the nostalgia factor? Modern pistols do everything better.
>>31587114
1911s were a shit design even when they came out, the cavalry units they had test them wanted their revolvers back
>really nice SAO triggers
>they feel good and shoot well
>there are alternate calibers and double stack options now too
>fucking everybody makes them or parts for them so you get continual iterative improvements like the AR-15, or x86 PC hardware
>>31587114
>nostalgia factor?
For all of the 1911 owners who are WW2 vets? Nostalgia for what?
It's an accurate pistol that's well designed ergonomically and functionally. As long as that's still applicable relative to other pistols available, and it is, then it'll still be a good pistol. If you don't like them, don't buy it; that applies to any firearm.
Make your own decisions.
Has anyone here got a gun license after being admitted to a mental hospital?
I live in MA and was admitted when I was 16 for depression/anxiety. I'm 23 now. On the application it asks if you were ever committed to a mental hospital. Will they find out if I lie? Will it prevent me from getting a license if I say yes? What do?
>>31586782
use the hillary excuse and write "i do not recall"
>>31586804
Not an option. Only yes or no.

You're screwed, m8!
The Filipinos want new CAS aircraft to replace their OV-10 Broncos.
It's down to two contenders, the Super Tucano and the AT-6 Wolverine.
Which one?
http://www.janes.com/article/64358/philippines-set-to-re-launch-bid-to-acquire-close-air-support-aircraft
I don't think anyone has bought the armed AT-6 variant.
Quite a number of sales for the trainer versions though. Canada, Greece, Iraq, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, UK and the US.
Meanwhile the Super Tucano has been sold to
Afghanistan, Angola, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ghana, Honduras, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania and Senegal.
>>31586575
This is interesting because you know that guy they have in charge now won't be shy about using these aircraft. He'll probably have them dropping bombs on the homes of suspected drug dealers and then strafing any survivors with the 0.50 cals.
>>31586631
Also the US has a license to build Super Tacos. That's what we gave to Afghanistan.
Question time /k/
Say you had a decent sized air cannon that blasted out whatever was in it at a very high speed. Now say this cannon was pointed at a person(distance is up to you). What do you fill this cannon with to ensure that the person is 110% dead? Be as creative as you like.

Are bump helmets worth it? or should I just buy a pasgt?
These are a better choice, incoming bullets get stuck to the Velcro for enhanced stoppage.
Bump helmet seems useless, unless you're only facing low velocity shrapnel.
>>31586668
Or falling debris, which is unlikely unless you're in a Michael Bay movie.
Hey /k/,
Have a 357 levergun. Rossi 20"
Want something else.
For some reason I crave 30-30 or a 45-70. I mostly plink and my state has rifle hunting banned of all kinds.
If I was gonna get another levergun what model and caliber would you reccomend?
44mag, 45-70 or 30-30?
How much is cost of reloading for each?
I like this ammo.
Why does it have to be a dollar a round?
>>31586166
Want that 357 and have the Marlin 45-70. It is expensive but no worse than a 12 gauge and way more fun. 30-30 kicks less goes farther (especially with ballistic tips) and still hits really hard. 44 mag is really fun and handy for much of NY. Personally I will likely go for all over time but 357 first to help my wife get more into shooting
Im looking to buy my first gun(s) /k/, I have about $1400 for guns and ammo. So should I get 1 nicer newer rifle, or 1-2 milsurps?

Isn't .22 still nowhere to be found or is that over now
ITT: Things /k/ is wrong about and/or unpopular opinions.
>Cold Steel is SHIT!
Most of their stuff is solid, though arguably not optimally designed. It's also very cheap which you have to factor in.
>pmags are the greatest of all time!
They're only popular because they're cheap. Lancers are better and GI mags are on par.
>you have to spend a lot to get something that works!
Fundamentals are vastly more important for firearms and a good shooter can use just about anything effectively. With gear, if it works, it works. You don't have to spend hundreds for what basically amounts to a wearable bag though you're free to do so. Optics? Aimpoints are fantastic and schmidt and bender is top titties. But you know what? For 99% of shooters a sightmark will hold zero just fine and a strike eagle magnifies just as much.

Too real man...
what's the smallest scale nuclear weapons can be effectively weaponized? why haven't fission-based mines been developed, or even grenades?
even used for anti-air or anti-naval I'd imagine they'd be effective, given that you wouldn't have to be nearly as accurate & could destroy a craft by the explosion's proximity alone. pic unrelated
>>31585626
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_Crockett_(nuclear_device)
Basically fat man from fallout.
not sure we can get much smaller. Critical mass and alll that...
A fission bomb gets its energy blast from reaching the critical mass of whatever radioactive shit is used in it.
The critical mass can be lowered using techniques like regular explosives getting the thing under high pressure, but it cannot be made THAT small anyhow.
>>31585674
what this anon said >>31585674
size is limited to critical mass for fission.
4th gen nuclear weapons could be be much smaller and range from very small yields to very high yields.
Is it safe to assume that:
If the gun has a handle, it is an AR-15.
If the gun has wood stock, it is an AK-47.
Right?

Pretty much.

The puppet masters of the rigged global systems have finally completed their so called "super soldier" program. They wish to push there one world order ideals using there new found power using these control implants & behavioral modification drugs they have been honing over the past decade. The military gear Q is wearing. To me it actually makes sense. Today more soldiers are dying from IED's. So I could see more explosive protection being deployed in the future.
