I was replaying Metro 2033, and I noticed how there is plentiful ammunition everywhere. However, there was no obvious source of propellant, and the casings were probably made of scrap.
What would people in the Metro, or some other apocalyptic universe, use to make their ammunition?
>>31576149
Bat poop.
>>31576149
Why not lighter than air flammable gasses? Or maybe a highly reactive metallic powder similar to thermite but with more explosivity?
>>31576185
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
Mark SERBu designed a new gun and is planning on selling kits/plans for it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoUfxQIKUqM
Looks fucking awesome and he shows how he makes them. He says you can make it with a hacksaw and a drill as well.
What does /k/ think?
>>31576104
bump!
Neat, but that requires some metalworking knowhow. I think there are definately way simplier gun buyback weapons that can be made.
>>31576312
problem is that PDs won't pay shit for guns that look like that. they know it's just garbage strung together to look like a gun.
Because I personally have had over 5k rounds through my AR-15s and never had a malfunction except for one box of hot ammo that blew primers out and jammed the bolt carrier/upper.
Never had a failure to feed, never had a failure to eject, never had a double feed. . . I have 5 different AR-15s too. One that was $750, another that was $2,000, and three I built each for around 1200-1500. All of them have run flawless.
I see all these tests and round counts where they say after every so many rounds there is a failure but I've failed to see it, even on my one AR that has 3k rounds through it with the original parts.

Why do Japs idolize the Yamato so much when it was a complete failure and didn't do shit before it got sunk by a few bombers?
>>31575699
Because they're fucking dumb and are bad at naval combat.
They didn't even hit our oil reserves at pearl, they thought visual ranging was better than Radar and they wouldn't use that super specialsnowflake battleship because "muh grorious nippon"
Why do people idolise German super weapon projects or railway guns?
The Yamato is the largest war machine ever constructed for direct action. The fact it existed alone is impressive.
>Why do Japs idolize the Yamato so much
This is called "begging the question"
It means you start your question with an assumption that you've taken as fact.
Full disclosure: I've never owned or shot a real firearm, but not as some anti-gun ideological principle, I just never got around to it.
Long story short, I work overnights, my wife and I are expecting soon, but there have been an increasing amount of daytime burglaries and night-time property thefts occurring in our area. This isn't terribly problematic, and we were going to just have our dog (German Shepherd) be our big "line of defense". Apparently our local PD has confiscated illegal firearms from gang members arrested in our local region though, and while there have yet to be any recent violent attacks against homeowners involving firearms in our area, we don't want to risk the possibility of being the first example.
We are going to get a firearm for home defense, as well as training at a local gun range. We've both been studying here and there what makes a home defense weapon viable and helpful, and we're undecided on what exactly we're gonna go for.
Some of the guns we're currently looking at (along with pros [+] and cons [-]) are:
• FNH PS90
[+] Cheapest gun of the three we're looking at.
[+] Low weight, at just 6 pounds
[+] The 5.7x28 supposedly has good stopping power and low recoil.
[+] The cartridge is interchangeable with the Five seveN pistol if we decide to get concealed carry permits later on.
[-] The ammunition is expensive.
[-] Seems kind of long (38 inches) and bulky.
• Sig Sauer MPX
[+] Short total length, so it's not quite as bulky as the PS90.
[+] The 9x19mm ammunition is definitely a lot cheaper.
[-] Heaviest of the three.
[-] Most expensive gun of the three.
[-] Is 9x19mm powerful enough to stop an aggressive intruder?
• Beretta ARX100
[+/-] Lighter than MPX, heavier than PS90.
[+/-] Shorter than PS90, longer than MPX.
[+/-] Not as expensive as the MPX, more expensive than the PS90.
[+] 5.56x45mm ammunition is not too expensive, and is the most "powerful" of the three.
All input welcome!

Don't know, but I wanna find out what /k/ thinks too.
Ditch all that shit for one of these and I'll tell you why.
>Lightweight at 7lbs
>well balanced, easily held and operated with one hand
>incredibly compact (~27")
>completely ambidextrous, should that ever be needed
>chambered in a round that is not only far better at stopping threats than pistol rounds, but has less overpenetration risks as well
>relatively cheap, can be had for ~1100
I don't own one. I'm not a shill for keltec. But I believe they're currently the objective best choice for home defense on the current market.
The Tavor and X95 are great too, but heavier and more expensive.
Also, regarding the PS90.
5.7 is about $0.30 cents per round on a good day, not expensive at all.
Also not particularly good at killing people, but that's why you get 50 of them.
The Five seveN is not a good pistol for concealed carry, period.
They're not bulky in the slightest, they're one of if not the most compact bullpups that exist. Also, only 26" long, where'd you get 38?
Is there any real benefit to appendix carry? Is it a good way to blow your dick off? How do you walk with a metal lump between your hip and femur?
>>31575584
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD1-cmqdXWA
>>31575584
How would you carry? Asking because I never have.
>>31575584
That guy is wearing it like a degenerate, but a big belly does really help conceal even very large guns at appendix position
Mosin Nagant
>used to be $100
>now going for $250+
SKS
>used to be $200
>now going for $400+
So what's the go-to cheap/good value rifle now?
homebuilt pipe gun
$500 AK
$600 AR
yeah these are more expensive than a nugget or sks used to be but they are WAY more practical and useful guns. also overall way higher quality
there are no good $100 guns out there today
There will never be another deal like a pre 2015 mosin. They were the last mass produced surplus bolt rifle in storage with massive quantities of ammo available anywhere in the world. There are still more out there along with other types of rifles but they won't be available in the numbers mosins have been in past years. Prices will only go up from now and any other surplus guns will be autoloaders and available as parts kits in the US.
Were they junk
Why have I not heard of this rifle
Should I buy one at $1600
>Okay guys
>Let's take an FAL
>And turn it into a tilting bolt AR-18
>>31575487
>And turn it into a tilting bolt AR-18
I'm okay with that
What is it?
Hey, so the other day I got redpilled on Rhodesia over on /pol/ (long story short Ian Smith did nothing wrong) and they told me that if I wanted to understand why the Rhodesian army was so good at resisting the rise of the planet of the apes for so long with so little support I should ask you guys about what their tactics general and their rifle of choice: the FN FAL in particular. So what was going on over there?
>falling for the rhodesia meme
>>31575414
more like real NATO
>>31575414
Leave /pol/ in /pol/.
That said, read up on fireforce and Rhodesian experiences in Burma and such.
What kind of weapons would you want in a post apocalyptic scenario? I'm thinking something very low maintenance, with fairly popular and common bullets. Try to include at least one rifle and pistol.
>>31575396
just about any kind of AK 47 or AR 15 varient
>>31575396
AR-15 with 22" barrel and Glock 17
this is factoring in parts commonality, ammo/magazine availability, and general reliability
You know this is a universe with laser rifles right?
Hypothetically, what would be the best modern round to replace the old .50BMG?
Something with better ballistics and less flash yet with the same load and the same or better range.
Also something that could fit all the roles of the current .50BMG, from sniping to anti-aircraft.
>>31575388
.375 chey tac
>>31575388
What about 14.9mm SOP?
>>31575388
All new .50 cal cartridge that fits the same performance into a package about half the size, otherwise it's not worth upgrading.

TOO SPOOKY DELET THIS!!!!!
Since there hasn't been one yet, let's see if we can organize a IE/OC/LA/SD meet.
We first need to select a venue.
Here's a few BLM spots in the area:
http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/palmsprings/Target_Shooting_and_Hunting_Information.html
Steele Peak -- Perris, CA
Highland BLM -- Highland, CA
We don't necessarily have to camp-out. It could be a one day event.
It's time to prove we're not cucks.
Discuss.
can we make so /k/ali gun club pls? I haef none

>>31574995

>>31574995
>babbys first AKOU vid
So i see you found AKOU, before you start spamming their vids everywhere, just know, we've seen most of them
Also, anyone who says "x gun is inaccurate" is a no guns and should be ignore. Accuracy is dependant on the shooter.
>>31574995
>>31575219
Practical accuracy is a combination of shooter's skill and mechanical accuracy of the firearm. A milled AK pattern with good fit and quality craftsmanship can shoot groups like that. The stamped AK is inherently less accurate than some rifles due to trunnion flex.
