The first scratch is always the toughest
>>
Battle Scars are a thing to be gloriously earned.
>>
Fucking hell, that's a big 'first scratch'. Atleast do it gracefully.
>>
its not a sports car you faggot, its a weapon
>>
>>31585398
That's why I bought my springfield mil-spec 1911 used. The finish on those is just waiting for scuffs with any normal use
>>
>Carry my AO M1911A1 everyday and operate with it innawoods
>Still looks new
The parkerization on this gun is tougher than any other finish I've ever seen.
>maybe one micro scratch
Seriously wtf
>>
It's a Springfield not a fucking Rembrandt. Guns are expected to have a few dings, scrapes, and bumps.
Equal circumstances otherwise, I would trust a person with a beat up, well used (cosmetically flawed but mechanically sound) gun over someone with the exact same gun looking like it just came out of the box.
>>
>Tfw you scratched your dad's .22 1911 while taking it down
God I felt like such a fuck up

It's called character, and your gun doesn't look like some kind of fucking investment safe queen that's only fired 3 rounds in it's life that is mostly used to impress fudds at the range,

Also it's a Springfield armory inc 1911, not some kind of uber rare limited production hand made gun. Your not going to see Ian do a segment on the SA 1911 on Forgotten weapons

All that aside and out of the way seriously though... how did you do that? The only thing I can think of doing now is wear it some more so the rest of the gun wears to match that scratch
>>
OP here, I blame my belt buckle.
>>
>>31585555
im guessing he shoved it into his pants walked around a bit while it rubbed the belt buckle
>>
>>31585555
>check'd
>>
>>31585555
Quads confirmed, good, honest scratches just make the gun look better.

Unless it's an idiot scratch.
>>
>>31585600
This is exactly what happened
>>
>scratched my lower when trying to put the roll pins for the bolt release.
>used my guns enough and haven't noticed any scratches

Eh is what it is.

Meh, I buy a gun and dont exactly act careless, but I dont do this ginger bullshit a lot of guys do.
>buy new C-29 AK clone
>out inna woods
>scratch it
>buddy goes "oooooohhh"
>wtf? Its just a $500 AK copy, I bought it specifically to be used as a beat around gun innawoods
>>

Mexicant detected.

I cant say much, I've got a bersa thunder with 24k gold plating and I carry it at 1'o'clock
>>
>>31585659
Too bad the parkerized finish on the mil-spec will never wear to look that good.
>>
>>31585593
You've posted before, I think in a bathroom carry thread. If in your shoes would keep doing what your doing then down the road get it refinished and invest in a holster. Question though, so you carry appendix iwb mexican with a round chambered? I'm all for trusting safeties for intended purpose but being directed at my junk or femoral arteries without the trigger being protected makes me worried

Possibly try taking off the slide, Taping or covering the internals, and putting it in a rock tumbler for a minute. might be worth it for the aesthetics alone
