I'm basically a fudd when it comes to my taste in guns (bolt action rifles with irons, double barrels, etc.)

What's the most easy to clean semi auto center fire rifle out there? I'm new to this and have decided I need a good semi to really use my rights, and defend my home.

AK, AR, and SKS are all really easy to strip and clean - really, almost any military design will be by necessity, though there are exceptions.
>>
>>32688772

Any widely-produced and adopted military rifle will be easy.

Listen fuckers, this is a gun from MGS3, The Patriot.
>The Patriot was a modified version of the XM16E1, with a shortened barrel and the stock removed. It was designed in order to create a carbine that combined the feel and quick handling of a handgun with the force of a rifle. The relatively light weight meant that the Patriot had a strong recoil, and was notoriously difficult to aim.

Thoughts? How practical/viable would a weapon like this be in use?

Smoothed/shaved the sear way too much. The jolt of the hammer coming forward caused the hammer to drop.

When it comes to semi-auto, I doubt you can beat the AR-7's bizarre integrated disconnector trigger group for simplicity.

The hammer basically slaps the trigger into disconnecting. Feels weird man.

How effective are .22s? Could they put a man down in over a 100 yard range? Are semis more practical than bolt actions? Can someone redpill me on them, please?
34 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>32687867
A .22 could kill at 100 yards, but it just as easily might not. How effective? Depends on what you want to kill, but generally no not compared to anything bigger.

Semi auto is more practical if you want to shoot faster. Bolt guns can be overall more accurate. Again, it depends on the intended use.
>>
>>32687909
>depends on intended use

SHTF scenario, really. Mainly to defend myself form potential threats, or perhaps to hunt small game.
>>
>>32687867
Leaning towards a no at that range. Possible but unlikely. lr's lose velocity fairly quickly.

>>32687502
Fuckkk. Had to clean it everytime someone wanted a sandwich. The meats were ok to clean off but it was always the fricking cheese that made the most mess. Don't even bother, just get a proper knife and practice faster knife skills.
>>
>>32687528
I work at a kosher deli, so this cheese thing is beyond me...

Do you think the modification would qualify it as combat ready?
>>
>>32687502
I don't know OP, the blade on the slicer looks like it could be used for a long while before needing to be replaced. It should be made of softer metal. You really only need one slice to kill a deer if you're good anyway

What should replace it?

Hey /k/, I'm looking to get my first rifle.

About 100yd is the best I can do in MO, so I'm going for a more mid-range cartridge. After speaking with a guy at my LGS about this, he suggested one of the basic, entry-level DPMS ar-15s. I love the idea of going with an AK for the reliability, but they seem to have less versatility and I won't be fighting off north koreans in the jungles of Missouri any time soon (I'll eventually have both AR and AK variants, but just to get this whole shit show rolling, I'll probably go with an AR).

I did a little more research, and according to arfcom-type neckbeards, the general consensus is that the lower-priced DPMS rifles have a lackluster reputation for the price range.

The one he showed me was $600 which seems like a damn good deal. I can afford to part with that much to get a basic rifle to practice with, then spend the big bucks later.

Should I go for something like this, or spend a little more?
