How effective are .22s? Could they put a man down in over a 100 yard range? Are semis more practical than bolt actions? Can someone redpill me on them, please?
>>
>>32687867
A .22 could kill at 100 yards, but it just as easily might not. How effective? Depends on what you want to kill, but generally no not compared to anything bigger.

Semi auto is more practical if you want to shoot faster. Bolt guns can be overall more accurate. Again, it depends on the intended use.

>depends on intended use

SHTF scenario, really. Mainly to defend myself form potential threats, or perhaps to hunt small game.
>>
>>32687867
Leaning towards a no at that range. Possible but unlikely. lr's lose velocity fairly quickly.
>>
>>32687867
Testing has confirmed that .22lr, according to u.s army standard, is fatal up to 400 yds. That said, with that small a caliber, shot placement is more important than with a larger caliber
>>
>>32687867
You sound like a poorfaggot who wants to start a race war.
>>
>>32687971
You can find a lot of opinions about that one... My pick has been .223/5.56 for my primary defense/survival weapon. I also have a .22 however as it's pretty easy to get a good amount of ammo (right now at least) and the guns are not very expensive. If you think you may have to fight, I would pick something bigger than .22 myself, and most people will say the same.

Traditionally people will train for chest shots. Mag dumps are far easier to keep on target.

However for a 22. Handfun, you'd want to kneel and fire at the junk.

The rounds cut through the pelvis, stopping anyone in their tracks, then travel along the meat next to the arteries. Shoot left, arteries, shoot right arteries. Shoot middle? Balls. Shoot high? guts.

15 rounds of spinning death into some nigs junk. Find a surgeon that will spend 13 hours on that shit.

I didn't say it was a bad thing.

>How effective are .22s?
Very effective on small game. Marginal on anything larger than a coyote.
>Could they put a man down in over a 100 yard range?
Yes, but there is a high probability of failure.
>Are semis more practical than bolt actions?
No. They are more expensive, less reliable, and usually less accurate. The only advantage they offer is speed, which is not very important.
>Can someone redpill me on them, please?
The best redpill is practical experience. Learn to shoot a bolt action well, and you'll be a force to be reckoned with.
>>
>How effective are .22s? Could they put a man down in over a 100 yard range?
not great but it'll do if you have nothing else. They could deflect if they hit a thick part of the skull. Against soft tissue a .22 FMJ will penetrate adequately.
>Are semis more practical than bolt actions?
you mentioned game and shtf. Against game a bolt action is adequate. Against people aka shtf semi auto is the clear winner

What is a better alternative to a .22, friendos?
>>
IMO .22lr survival rifle with a suppressor and then a 9mm handgun sounds very effective and weight effective as well.

.22lr easily can kill at 100 but it takes shot placement.

>shot placement meme
>>
>>32688711

How is that a meme you stupid nigger

Stop posting
>>
>>32687867

Could it? It could if you could really shoot and knew where to put it. Best choice? No. But if you hit them squarely they'll be more concerned with survival and retreat than fighting.
>>
>>32688711
Explain to us how it isn't true
>>
>>32688711

My grandmother died of .22lr and good placement.
>>
>>32688510
7.62x39 is about as cheap as an intermediate round gets in 2017.

12guage is also cheap and available all the time.

I got into guns post Sandy Hook when the .22lr shortage started. I had a .22 from when I was a kid that didn't get fired at all for years due to ammo hoarder fucks, so my SKS and later my AK became my cheap plinking gun.

270 Winchester is my personal favorite cartridge. 7mm-08 is good too. 308 doesn't have enough case capacity for its caliber.
>>
>>32688510
for small game like squirrels and rabbits it's perfect
for people 5.56 or or 5.45 or 7.62x39 are great. 5.56 if you're in the US, plenty of cheap ammo and lots of guns chambered for it. All these larger rounds will wreck small game though. 7.62x39 is adequate for game like deer. 5.56 is ok for smaller deer with the right ammo. Don't know if there's any 5.45 rounds good for hunting.

basically you gotta pick what size animal you want to shoot, squirrel/rabbit size or people/deer size.
>>
>>32687971
9x19mm out of a carbine. Cheap, light, easy to find ammo, and good for most north american game. Larger white tail deer like what is found in the western states may be too much for FYI.
>>
>>32688510
.25 acp faggot.
>>
>>32688711
Are you a fucking retard?
>>
>>32688035
>is fatal up to 400 yds
That must have been quite an arc to get it to hit someone at 400 yards.
>>
>>32688035
although i can't possibly find it again, if you've been around the internet long enough, then you've probably also seen a man out in the scrub (in wyoming?) make a thread on a forum that showed .22LR clearly penetrating a half-frozen turkey (prepped but not cooked) at 300 yards, even when it was wrapped in denim (which was also partially frozen at one point, fuck that wind out there).
>>
>>32687867
now why dont we have her as the first lady?
>>
>>32688179
This is the only correct answer for SHTF scenario due to the massive amount of surplus ammo that is around. I have 4.5 crates at home 3 chinese 1.5 of russian. Ill be good forever.
