Hey /k/ which company makes the best holsters?
I'm looking for a AIWB holster for my XDS and a normal IWB. The top 2 I heard about are JMCustom Kydex and Raven Concealment but I just wanted some more opinions
>>32858466
They're all the same. Some will say I'm wrong, but offer no real reasons against it.
>>32858466
Alien gear is best gear.

>The top 2 I heard about are JMCustom Kydex and Raven Concealment but I just wanted some more opinions
Damn right.
>Albertafag here, just shot a gun for the first time two days ago, looking into getting a brush gun for camping as here we have problems with bear and cat as best camping time is spring and fall.
>Originally, sks looked good, not knowing caliber was pretty weak and barely legal to hunt with, then was recommended to a Marlin 30-30.
> Marlin looked good, but seems like a questionable choice since hits to the hammer can cause it to fire and it seems like the tubular mag+ centerfire rounds are a shitty combination for a gun that might see some abuse. Not sure if these guns are actually deemed unreliable in this situation, partial to my asking.
>Which brings me to my next choice- 12g mossberg 500, smooth bore.
>It looks promising, I just wanted your collective opinion. Rifled slugs can hunt well through dense brush, seems sturdy and resistant to heavy shock. 12g slug apparently can drop anything in north America and is easy to find.
>Is there anything I should look for if the mossberg is a good choice? I don't care for ranged shooting past 100yards, I would like to mount a light and laser to the sides of it, nothing else.
>TL;DR- Mossberg 500 any good for north camping defense and hunting.
Sounds like you've got it figured out
>>32858354
Mossman will remove bear, go for it.
>>32858412
Do I?
Is there a specific choke I should opt for when shooting rifled slugs optimally?
Is there any main differences in shell length that I should choose? Any specific slug the mossberg would "like"?
I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm a funs n00b so please forgive me.
I'm an 18 year old living in California, and all I want is to own an AK. I have a .22 for plinking, I know how to handle guns, I'm familiar with gun safety, etc.
I know I'm in one of the worst states for gun ownership. Once I get my B. S. I'll hopefully get the fuck out of here. In the meantime, however, can I buy an AK? I know I can't ((((legally)))) own the 30 round magazine, but other aspects (like the pistol grip, bullet button) had me confused as hell. Nothing online or in the sticky helped.
Also,
>inb4 buy an AR
I've shot them, I get the love for them. But I want an AK.
Thanks /k/omrades
>>32858209
>getting a non neutered AK in California
You'd have better luck winning the lottery 5 times in a row.
>>32858225
What does 'neutered' mean?
>>32858236
It's not going to have a pistol grip. Its going to have a faggy ass stock or anti child killer grip. Hell, I don't even know if you can get a legit AK in Cali, they're probably banned by name. So a neutered Saiga is what you can get which is a neutered neutered AK.
Hey /k/, can you help me identifying the rifle at the bottom
Syrian-contract French MAS Mle.1949.

Thanks mate.
While we're all aware of the backdrop against which my current trepidation may be splayed, I have decided its time to buy and begin to carry a cw and getting my cpl.
I have been attracted to the Bersa Thunder for a long time. I like the feel and how it sits in my hands, and I like the general aesthetic (as trivial as those sort of things are), and I saw it as reasonably priced enough to get now until I can afford something in the h&k/sig range.
I am, naturally, slightly off put by the 380. I firmly believe in shot placement over penetration, but it is still an important factor.
Any anons with experience or advice?
>>32857913
Uh, story?
>>32857913
How would you feel if i shot you 8 times in the torso with a .380? That should answer your question.
>>32857913
Christ you're a faggot. Buy the Bersa, some good defense ammo, a holster. Then fuck off and never return.
This might be be a dumb question, but it's just hypothetical.
If a person wanted to join one of the US armed services or the reserves, would the recruiters look into their phone history during the background check?
For example if said person was thinking about joining, but had a recent history of selling herbs in a state where it is not legal. Could they get in trouble for that?
I know there is a drug test, but this hypothetical person has been clean for over a year. Would their communications history come into play? Or god forbid... their Internet history?
Obviously asking a recruiter this would be bad.
They're not gonna look at your phone. They're not gonna look at your computer. If you need a clearance, they will be talking to folks that knew you at each address you lived it. Make sure you list people that will tell them what you want told.
>>32857475
Recruiter will ask if you did drugs, including marijuana. Which we all did unless you're a square.
You answer should be no. That's the end of it. Good luck in the Army.

What do you mean look at my computer? You mean my Web history from my ISP? I install a new OS every month and format my drives, so my computer is clean.
By all accounts, the Colt-Browning was the clear and obvious winner of the 1907 and 1911 trials, but lately I have been obsessed with the losers. Some of the other designs could have been great, if only their companies had the capability and bankroll Colt had at the time.
The Knoble—Designed by William Knoble of Tacoma, WA, this automatic had one advantage in its design that was later adopted by various Walther models. In its double action form, an additional pull of the trigger would cause the hammer to raise and fall once more in a attempt to secure a positive ignition to a previously failed round. However, neither pistol was suitable designed to permit smooth and positive operation. Remarkably, neither the inventor nor a representative were present at the trials. Experienced experts from the armory were challenged to disassemble and reassemble the gun, but none of them were able to get the gun to discharge a single round. As a result, the board was not able to even begin testing the gun.
I really wish this gun didn't suck so hard, because it's a looker. I kinda wanna design a replica, but I don't wanna blow my hand off testing. We got better alloys and shit now, though... Maybe the patents and copyrights have lapsed? I'll do it if I don't have to pay royalties.
The White-Merrill—Submitted by Samuel Merrill of Boston, MA, this pistol employed one singular characteristic intriguing to the board. Since the adoption of the S&W Schofield in 1877, consideration was given to any gun that could be cleared or loaded with one hand, facilitating the operator to maintain control over his mount by holding the reins with his off hand. The White-Merrill accomplished this objective by having a spur located under the trigger guard permitting the operation of the slide with the pistol hand. However, the amplified blow-back system employed a very strong spring and action to accommodate the increased power of the .45 ACP cartridge making this operation quite difficult. Additionally, numerous cartridge failures, feeding problems and loose screws prevented any more than 211 rounds from being fired before testing stopped. Although no mention was made in the report, the over-sized slide/trigger spur surely would have made for a difficult holster pattern and would certainly have been condemned by troops in the field as being a considerable impediment to handling.
Please continue, this is the most interesting thing I've read all week.

I had a thought a few days ago, take the Erieye radar of a SAAB 340 and stick it on top of a S-3 Viking.
Obviously there isn't much, or any, point. But is there any reason why it wouldn't work?
I've been looking for a precision rifle. I don't go to the range as much as I'd like to anymore unfortunately, and my AR-15 solely remains a part of my kit in the the eventuality of a national crisis here in the US. I've never done precision shooting before besides doing texas ranges that extended to 1500 meters, where I hit a vehicle sized target at 1230 meters using an .50 M2HB. I've shot 5.56 tracers out to ranges of around 800 meters and it just feels underwhelming to me. I don't believe .223 is the most ethical choice for hunting larger game at a distance, too much lee-way to miss without a proper setup.
Preferably looking for a .308 or .30-06 as it is easy to find these calibers and they're good for all around general purpose, fitting that philosophy of 'one shot, one kill' instead of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal by making it scamper to it's death as it bleeds out. I'd prefer if the rifle didn't go over $2,000 and is relatively accurate. Aesthetic and weight is a non-factor to me, I've had to carry big ugly dumb guns.
>not buying god-tier Mosing Nagant m/39 that fucked commies straight in the ass
>>32856632
Well we're far past the dark ages of winter warfare and I also already had one of those. It was a VKT M39. I just didn't want to ruin it with a bipod and scope mount. 7.62x54r steelcase isn't really 'matchgrade', and all that's available is soft point and not hollowpoint.

I don't know if this is the board for this question or not, but I figured I'd give it a try since it is weapons-related. What are some good sites to buy demilled/inert ordnance in the US? I recently discovered that there's a whole community of collectors who collect deactivated and otherwise inert explosives, from WWII hand grenades and early artillery shells to LAW tubes and 20mm practice ammo.

I'm asking for recommendations of reputable websites that sell to American civilians. A lot of sites that come up on Google do not ship outside of the EU, do not sell inert/demilled ordnance to civilians, or are sketchy as fuck. I have more pictures, though, if you'd like.
