So I'm looking into getting my first semi auto, and I really like the Jericho 941. I've heard good things, but am curious about your opinions.

Also steel vs polymer? Polymer would save me about $100, and that would allow me to buy another spare mag or two. I'm still relatively new to guns despite doing some shooting occasionally and owning a revolver. Should I be worried about long term durability with polymer, or is it safe to save the $100 and put it towards another mag or two?

Advantages of the CZ over the Jericho?

Also still curious about steel vs polymer, regardless, for future gun buying in general
>>
Steel frame for sure. It's supposed to be a 75 knockoff, so might as well keep it as close to the real thing as possible. It weights a lot though, so I wouldn't consider it for carry.
Also, I wouldn't worry about polymer durability.

I started going hunting with a friend of mine who is experienced and has been hunting for years and years. We both bring with us a couple mags and our 5.56 ARs both of us also carried 9mms as back ups (G19 & G26). We go hunting for coyotes and small game all the time but rarely we have run into a pack of hogs where they felt the need to charge us and behold small arms fire on the thiccc hide doesn't do much. We basically had to do mag dumps into two hogs to get them down. Now since then he has switched to a .308 AR10 as his all around rifle (funny af to see coyotes get hit by .308) I still bring my 5.56 but I want my side arm to be a bigger caliber. I'm not a fan of revolvers but I'd be willing to go that route just for the big stopping power of a .44. I also love glocks and 10mm seems a good route with 15 rounds in the mag and the ability to Pimp my ride what is everyone's opinion on this ?

If you're going hunting, but a 22lb recoil spring and run full power loads. Also get into reloading it will save you A LOT of money.

Let's talk about the open carry of pistols and long guns, Would /k/ do it? It seems to me like it would be smarter to open carry a long arm, given you have a sling to keep the weapon attached to you.
27 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>33714757
>sling can be pulled to neck level
>sling is now a garrote with a convenient windlass/handle
>sling can also be cut with a strap cutter that common thieves already use to snatch purses and backpacks

Handguns have retention holsters specifically designed to resist theft and enable the carrier to use a knife or other secondary option to force the person to let go. Slings are not designed to resist a determined attacker like a duty holster and belt is.

I came across some shitty doc that covered this conspiracy detailing the death/assassination of Gerald Bull. Can I get the scoop on this guy? Any books to recommend?

>Bull worked on the Scud project, making calculations for the new nose-cone needed for the higher re-entry speeds and temperatures the missile would face.
and the conspiracy part
>Over a period of a few months following, his apartment suffered several non-robbery break-ins, apparently as a threat or a warning, but he continued to work on the project. In March 1990 he was assassinated. One account states he was shot five times in the head and back at point blank range while approaching the door of his apartment in Brussels. Another account states he was shot by a three-man team on March 20, 1990, when he answered the doorbell.

So did this guy have a PhD in super-mega-guns or what? How have I never heard about him before? Pic unrelated.

He was an autist who got in over his head. Wanted to make a space-cannon regardless of who he made it for, but the US, USSR, and Chinese all rejected him. He went to Saddam's Iraq who wanted to use it to fire shit at Israel. He was warned by Mossad to stop but didn't and paid the price.
>>
>>33714480
He was murdered by the jews for no good fucking reason. The cannon he was building had ZERO merit as a weapon. It couldn't elevate or transverse and would have been a sitting duck for PGM. It wasn't a weapon but the jews killed him out of pure spite.
>>
>>33714641
At the time it was out of strike range for Jew weapons, but the cannon itself could strike the jews at will.

So I have a dumb idea.

Takedown rifles in centerfire cartridges are pretty much unobtanium for most of us who don't have a few grand lying around.

With one notable kind of exception: Single shots.

Now, they're not GOOD guns, per se. At least not off the rack ones. They're definitely not going to hold their own against bolt actions or even most semi's, but they do have one major advantage. They're fucking tiny, and easily break down. They're fantastic as ad-hoc takedowns, and some are even purpose built for it. (See pic related).

What I'm thinking about isn't a change in doctrine for anyone, since no shit. BUT as a purpose-built weapon, one that could be

>Fit into almost any backpack
>Be lighter than anything other than a handgun or the most carbon-fibered ARs.
>Assembled quickly in the field.
>Exist in a variety of chamberings to suit various needs(.243 and .45-70 seem particularly popular)
>Cheap as dirt, even when extra work like cutting or threading barrels is accounted for
>Either disassembled and stashed after use or discarded, depending on the legality of the situation

I'm not suggesting single shot rifles make good fighting guns. I am suggesting they make a fantastic KILLING gun, for food (or at least one target if you choose the murdery path).

Thinking of starting with pic related (CVA Scout Takedown in .243, ~300 bucks on the high end), having the barrel chopped to 16 and threaded, and fucking around with an impromptu suppressor.

I call it the Tactical Hobo Objective Takedown.

Thoughts?

>>Be lighter than anything other than a handgun or the most carbon-fibered ARs.
if you shoot anything with real recoil a lightweight gun is a disadvantage
>>
>>33714222

Not if you're only shooting once.

Also, most of them are chambered in either intermediates or the lower end of full-size (.308, .270, etc). Not really an issue.

Has anyone had experience using any of the above with a period correct scope attached? I'm very interested in acquiring either a High Wall or Sharps with one.

My local Taylor's & Co sells Uberti, Chiappa, and Pedersoli models of various single-shot rifles. I'm debating on what rifle to get from them, since buying in person yields a pretty good discount from what can be found online.

I originally wanted a straight stock 32" Uberti 1885, but that one proves to be a little too big for carrying around in the woods. I'm considering dropping the extra dosh on a Pedersoli Sharps, since they are of better quality out of the box, and the Cavalry carbine really interested me.

She peaked my interests for the carbine after mentioning it could have a shorter period-correct scope mounted upper left-center of the barrel, which sounded pretty fitting for what I want in a 45-70 shooter. It isn't really a realistic setup historically speaking, but it sounds like it'd be a cool firearm to own and a good conversation starter. The rifle itself would sell for around $1600.

What are your opinions on Uberti, Chiappa, and Pedersoli single-shots? what were your experiences?
