Silver bear is good stuff, but promag is absolute ass. Try getting some European AK mags, and avoid tapco, croatian mags, and ProMag.

silver bear is fine, it's higher quality and has better QC than regular tula but remember it'll make your guns just as dirty. all russian ammo shits fouling inside guns.

promag stuff is notoriously unreliable, at least with pistol mags in my experience, but I wish you luck with your cool looking mag

Since I bought the mag from cheaper than dirt, it looks like their return policy is under 90 days and is a free pre-paid return. Guess I will just return it as soon as I get it.

<Color> Bear is fine ammo. It was better when Barnaul (?) owned/produced it, but it's still good ammo, and a healthy step above TulAmmo and probably better than Wolf, if memory serves.

To all the people shitting on ProMag, yes, they're crap. They're made in substandard conditions, with substandard materials and their QA department is probably just some drunk dude passed out in a closet.

However, OP wanted a clear magazine because it looked cool. Chances are, it'll run good enough in a gun-range type environment (i.e. no grit or stress and slow fire).

It's only $10 and if you want to fuck around with a e s t h e t i c shit for $10, be my guest. My Yugo M70AB2 came with the correct polymer pistol grip, but I wanted a more traditional wooden grip. Bought one for $7 on Apex, installed it (after dremmeling the fuck out of it), never even used it while shooting, took a few photos, then replaced the standard pistol grip on it because it felt better and was authentic.

It's your money if you want to dick around, do it. It's a free country.

I know for a fact that ProMag makes a 15 round stick mag and a 25 round drum for the 1911. Eventually I will own both because both are ludicrous and give me the giggles. I know both will probably cause failures and will likely not lock back the slide on the last shot, but fuck it, it's what I want.

Anyway, OP, I'm drunk, enjoy your AK. The AK is made to chew through steel cased ammo, so don't worry about that. In my opinion, most 7.62x39 ammo is sort of crap, unless you get into brass cased Hornady shit, and the like, that is nearly $1/round (if not more); and it's largely meant for hunting or defense. Golden Tiger is supposed to be the gold standard for 7.62x39, but I've never bothered to track it down and pay the (slight) premium.

Red Army is pretty good, too. I like that it has laquer on the bullet and primer. Still probably underloaded like Wolf, TulAmmo and <color> Bear, though.

Also, I couldn't discern from your previous posts, what sort of AK did you get?

Personally, I love the Yugo M70 series. Those Yugoslavians and their penchant for thick receivers and rifle grenades. And seriously, the standard pistol grip on the Yugo M70s is much better than the tiny AK pattern grip. Also the enlarged handguard is worth not having interchangeable parts.

The only thing I don't like is that the correct bayonet is plain black plastic.

I don't mind the lack of a chrome lined barrel. Supposedly the Yugoslavians preferred to do without because it negatively impacted the accuracy of the rifles (not like the AK is inherently a very precise rifle anyway). Oh well, I don't think modern ammo is very corrosive anyway, and I only put a couple hundred rounds through it every year anyway.

Lastly, underfolder is best stock. Anyone who says otherwise is a girly man.
