The QE class has an automated munitions handling system which cuts the crew to around 800 for a 70,000 ton ship. the Ford class has a crew of 4,300 for a 100,000 ton ship. Why does the Ford class require thousands of sweating, toiling nig nogs to move stuff around like it's 1940? Is this some kind of workfare program to keep them off the streets?
Yes.
>>34083526
Yeah. In fact, they think it's a privilege to work on the carrier, even.
This is bait.
Though later builds of the Ford will be implementing a automated munitions handling system likely inspired from the QEC. Both the RN and USN do a significant level of technical and idea sharing.
Same with submarines.
Hey /k/,
What are some handguns you'd recommend for someone with rather short fingers? Weapons like Glock 17 or Walther P99 simply don't cut it, I can't put my finger on the trigger properly whenever I grab the gun to line up with my arm, so I have to hold it at an angle, which probably affects my accuracy and definitely has a negative impact on my confidence.
>can't put your finger on the trigger properly
Do you have half inch long fingers? What the fuck?
>>34083520
Mr. President, is that you?
>>34083520
Muh 1911.
But seriously dude, give us some actual measurements or we can't do anything but tell you to work with single stacks.

They had the same doctrine as the French, that is 10 round Semi-Automatic Rifles+SMGs. (MAS-49+MAT-49)
They realized at about the same time as the French that doctrine was obsolete

Why are most western machine guns fed from the left side? Is there any benefit? It makes it much easier for the loader if they're fed from the right.
> It makes it much easier for the loader if they're fed from the right.
t. someone who has never used a machinegun
>>34082819
this
right hand on the pistol grip, stock under the shoulder
manipulations with the left hand
>>34082819
Great input, thanks. I used a machine gun in the military, both as shooter and loader. I guess the Russians have never used machine guns either seeing as they often design them with right hand feed.
Hello /k/! Realtivly /noguns/ here (I have a .22 Bolt action if that counts) and I was going to go buy a M92FS tomorow and was wondering if I could get some secondary opinons from you all. I know admitadly there are some cheaper options for a double stack 9mm but I will admit I just love the look and feel of such a gun.
I defently like the stainless steel models (and was going to put some wooden hand grips on it later pls no bully).
>>34082718
Why would you own a bolt action when ruger makes cheap semi automatics?
Just asking: you're held and fired it before, right?
>>34082770
Yep!
>>34082733
Its really fun for plinking and honestly I really really dident want to get a 10/22

Hey /k/, Europoor here. I'm going to the US next week and l'll be staying in a state with very lax gun laws (Oregon), so l had a few questions.
Say l want to go to a shooting range and shoot something. I've had zero experience with firearms so far, so how should l actually go about that? What do l say to the people working there? Are they even gonna let me shoot, or are they likely to turn me away when l tell them l've never done it before?
These two are the important ones for now, l'll ask a couple more follow-ups if this thread gets any traction.
Cheers.

Just fuck off to one of those awful party islands where all those chavs go instead. Enough of all you cunty Europeans.
>>34082667
Go to a range that lets you rent guns (there's on in Eugene that has a Thompson) and rent one. Ask if they have an instructor that can show you how to operate and what the safety rules are. Easy peasy.
>>34082667
Say you're a European that doesn't know anything about guns and needs help to learn why the 2nd amendment is so important

It's a massive, massive capability upgrade.
It's not a Nimitz/Ford carrier, but it was never intended to be.
That is it.
It was relatively cheap to buy (despite the CATOBAR flip-flop), and will be cheap to run (tiny complement due to automation), both the RN and RAF will be operating the same jet type for commonality, and the USMC will be effectively sharing it. It's pretty decent to be honest.
