Ok, so hear me out.
Let's say someone was making a credible threat to your life over some texts/emails/voice mails/medium of your choosing. Let's say police are not able to do anything because your state has restrictive laws/the guy hasn't done anything yet.
NOW let's say you have pic related, and a reasonable guidance system for your home-made ballistic missile weapon.
If they made a credible threat to your life, and you had complete certainty of their home and location, would it be justifiable to launch a ballistic missile barrage in self defense as a pre-emptive strike?

So I bought my first rifle last year. It was a remington 700. After floating about on here for quite some time it didn't take long to realize everyone shitting all over the remington. Should I just trade it in for a different rifle? What rifle would /k/ suggest that uses 3.08 rounds.

I'm looking for a Tikka T3 Hunter Stainless left handed in .308 Winchester. Yes, it is very specific, and no, I doubt I'll find one anywhere near me, but shipping cost isn't an issue. I know the T3X does not come in LH/SS/.308 which is why I've decided to settle for the T3 (the website is very hard to read accurately but I'm rather certain this specific gun exists in some form.) This is a last resort post, and if you guys can't find it I'm going to call up Beretta. I'll be very grateful to whoever can help.

I'm at a dilemma /k/
I found these online, they appear to be poly frames for a pistol, no visible serials on them, is the slide considered the functional component or is this some kind of shady frame for sale? i don't want my doggo to get hurt.

It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. For instance, any Glock brand Glock will have the frame as the serialized part. A Sig P320 has the removable trigger mechanism is the serialized part.

I went with a P229 in .357SIG as my first defensive pistol in 2005. I shoot IDPA with it and my only regret is not getting one with a beaver tail. It really helps with consistent high grip when in stressful situations or against the clock.
If I would do it over again, I'd get a 226 DA/SA Legion in 9mm.

So my dad and I went to a gun store today. The goal was to find a handgun for him to buy. He had his mind set on some new Beretta, the APX I think.
Anyway he asks one of the guys behind the counter if they had any. Turns out our home state Commiefornia won't import them and a bunch of other guns on my dad's list of wants because of a few restrictions that the companies (understandably) don't want to have to deal with.
Right now, he's down to either a Beretta 92, which he had when he was younger, or a Springfield XD with a 5 inch barrel. I'm not really good with handguns, so when he asked which one I'd go for, I was kinda at a loss.
Can anyone suggest one over the other, with reasoning that will make sense to my fudd-ish dad? I thought I remembered hearing a lot of bad shit about the XD for reasons I can't recall. Also,

I don't like either the 92 or the XD, but I think the XD sucks worse. Your dad doesn't need your opinion to pick between two guns.

Which rifle is more effective in a combat situation?

You are surviving after a national catastrophe. Your environment ranges from urban setting, to mildly forested creek area and grass land. You often run into hostile groups of 1-2. Sometimes 5. (Keep in mind, if disaster ever happens, people will be starving, so hostile combatants will be more thin and lanky, so this can affect tumbling and mushrooming.)
The 556 is a great adaptable round. Meant to stay flaying flatter and longer, and also more light weight so one man can carry more ammo, and less recoil. Added bonus of occasional tumbling. However many call this round underpowered and it can easily slide through meat just leaving a 22 sized hole. The military now wants a 762 platform over the 556.
The 762x39 is also a fantastic round, with a heavy hit, and added barrier penetration. The rifles associated with this platform are also nearly indestructible. However, these round are slightly heavier, have slightly more recoil, and sometimes dont mushroom or deform correctly.
Given this varying environment, which is the more effective man stopping round?
I have heard many operators bitch about the 556 and how it can pass right through, but ive also heard others tell horror stories about what theyve seen them do.

Anyhow, 5.56 and 7.62x39 come in different of bullet types and powder loads, and there are different AK 47/AR-15 variants.
Also please use 5.56 with a dot instead of 556, otherwise you sound like you're talking about the gun not the cartridge.
