This character is female. Why is it that when I see it, although having a dominant male vibe, I can still internalize that she's female?

I read Loomis' sections on the difference between genders but still don't understand.

It's the long face, wide mouth, and the cheek bones that kinda look like really long sideburns. I would also say its that hair, but I've seen some really feminine characters with a similar hair style.
>>
>>2600251
I would only guess it's female because I read your post first
It looks like some nigger butch to me

So i came back to drawing after a few years of nothingness. What's the best book/course/whatever to learn anatomy as fast as possible?

drop the "fast as possible" mindset or you're never going to make it

I will never make it anyway, i just want to get good at anatomy because its impossible to do anything without it.

What's a good, reasonably priced decent sized tablet (one that lets me use my arm to draw) with a screen built into it?

The disconnect between hand and screen simply isn't good for learning how to draw.

That's bullshit. As long as you get something choice af like the Huion Giano® you'll be fine. You're just looking to spend your way out of sucking balls at drawing and it's not going to fuckin' happen, take it from me.

Why do you draw/paint? As a hobby? As a career? Where do you see yourself going with this.

Pic related is why I draw. If some fag from Detroit can do it, why not me?

To be able to physically create the ideas in my head and that it's. It's literally a basic skill that I need to progress in life. Everyone can understand an image, it's creating the image that requires a ton of shit behind it.
>>
>>2598308
'Cause you ain't some random fag from Detroit.

I do it because I have natural tendencies to do so (as a hobby ofc).

I loved to draw in kindergarten-first grade. It was fun. I could put all the ideas in my head down that I didn't have the capacity to do through writing then. I made little comic booklets. I would doodle in class in elementary school to pass time, but I just wanted to make pretty faces; I scarcely drew stories during those years. I rediscovered drawing when I was 14 after reading Naruto. I wanted to be able to draw comics like the manga artists, so then acquiring a skill that the people I admired possessed was important to me. I would practice every day and I vastly improved. Sometimes I would draw stories once I started getting more skilled. I stopped drawing for awhile when I became rather depressed. I had already acquired a recognizable level of skill, so it had become pointless because my creativity was gone. I still don't have the same creativity I had when I was 8, but now I'm thankful that I have the skill. I can draw out life the way it should have been, the way I wanted it to be. Now that's why I draw. To see a picture that never could have existed in real life, and which I cannot talk about with others for fear of judgment. It helps me pretend that those who are dead are still alive, and I feel less alone through drawing. Ah, that does sound sappy.

How much would you ask to design and draw a single illustration of a website mascot?
Pic semi-related, it's similar to what I'm asked to do.

How long do you think it'll take? Think $30/hr; you can come down a bit if it's out of their budget.
>>
>>2598866
As far as I can tell, it'll be an 8-10 hour job. And was thinking $200-$250 depending on changes and shit. But the dude was concerned about image rights (like dude, you're not alibaba and you will not print or distribute the image in any sort that generates money, I'm basically selling you an illustration). It kinda made me wonder if I was underchanrging drastically.

The image will not be printed or distributed in merchandise or ads or anything that direclty generates revenue, it's not even gonna be used in labels or tags since the guy is a re-seller not a producer (bikes and skating accessories). All it'll be used for is his to adorn his website, business card and a vinyl cut on his counter.

There are good books/guides to start doing portraits? I'm thinking to start with drawing heads and hands by Loomis, but I want to know if there are better options to start with the fundamentals. Simply copying references over and over seems kinda stupid.

Idk man. I think the only way is to do just that. Draw a shit ton of portraits from reference and from your head. That being said, I could be wrong. I am not as good as the quality of work you linked.
>>
>>2588059

pretty much any good art book assumes you know the fundamentals
>read: know what they are

like this one
>>

you are wrong, but not entirely.

there are a bunch of different approaches to drawing and painting the head, but if you don't know any of them you end up just running in circles not learning anything.

good rule of thumb, if you feel like you're lacking in something, study it. in the beginning when you don't know shit it doesn't matter what order you study them or if you study them at the same time, as long as you get around to doing them both eventually
>>
Do Sakimi glitter effects and draw the eye to boobs & ass and you can hide terrible anatomy that way

I have these pendants I have been painting and I need to sell some to buy more supplies (the saga of the artist). But I have no idea how much to price them for or where would be best to sell them. I am in the US and open to ideas.

The wave & mountain pendants you have on your instagram are better executed than this one OP, so maybe not the best example piece if you're looking to sell.

Your best bet is to look on Etsy to see how people price their charms & pendants, and price yourself accordingly 2bh
https://www.etsy.com/search/handmade?q=painted+pendant
Keep material costs in mind too, but don't do it so much as to where you undersell yourself.

Another thing is quality control. Don't just use a bunch of cheap ass craft paint on some shitty key ring and call it good to sell for example.
>>
Thank you for the advice. And thank you for the link. This will help quite a bit.

As to which of my pendants are better then others, that just goes to show how varied people's tastes can be. I thought this was the best, and I am my own worst critic. But that just means I need to broaden my horizons and paint different things if I want to attract a wide audience, I guess.
>>
>>2598564
desu it's just the clouds that really throw off the overall pendant; seems to be that they are more pronounced and popping off the object. The cliffs are actually the best part of that BECAUSE of that 3D aspect, so maybe it has to do with the opacity of the clouds? The sun also has its issues, but minor ones regarding blending out. OP do you do "thumbnails" (sketching out small images) on canvas/paper before you attempt to paint on the metal?

Painting small scale on actual objects is a hassle, so best of luck with this if you keep doing these for money.

Do you think digital art will ever be taken seriously in the fine art world?
14 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
not even fine art is taken seriously in the fine art world
>>
>>2596948
No, because physically owning a unique thing is what makes fine art. You always know that digital art is not "physical" in the sense that traditional art is.
>>
>>2596955
I know your right. It really sucks though because there's all these cool possibilities and new techniques with digital that I want to use but I'm interested in the fine art world not the entertainment industry. Maybe I should switch over to graphic design or something.
