Is there a easy/good way go make leads smooth into ink or should i go digital?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If your skills were better the ink and pencil would look a lot better. There's no way to make the eye you drew look smooth or correct.
>>
There are specialised pencils which produce blacks almost as strong as ink, but generally speaking ordinary graphite will always look light and shiny compared to ink.

I'd recommend moving to paint if you want to go beyond pencil without going digital. Modern paint is convenient enough that everything else is basically just too much trouble.

Contrary to what most people on here are likely to say, I'd also say going digital is a perfectly valid next step. Digital painting offers some opportunities to develop your skills that traditional work doesn't (rapid mirroring and rotating of the image and quickly undoing mistakes train you to see errors better than traditional methods, in my opinion).

very constructive, thanks...

Thanks for the input. I'll be looking around for some new hardware then, and maybe go digital.

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?

>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].

What do we draw?

>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.

What's a low effort warning?

>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.

>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.

What happens if I'm eliminated?

>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.

How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?

>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.

Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?

>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

Anyone ever try these? Apparantly they're alcohol based markers that blend and all that but this 36 pack was like 12 dollars at Wal-Mart. Do they compare to copics (I know they don't but would they be decent for practicing before going in for the kill with copics)?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2597135

Oh and it had a lot of colors like skin tones and greys I wouldn't have expected.
>>
They're kinda like Sharpies. I wouldn't say they blend much, not that I've tried very hard.
>>
the mark-its were my go-to markers when i was budgeting years ago. imo they're slightly better than sharpies, but some of the colours appear much more dark than the cap suggests. a small handful of markers did dry out a lot faster than others in the same pack, so i guess watch for that.

for what it is & the price/amount, they're not really that bad if its the only thing you have on hand

Hey /ic. I have a question for those of you who do commissions. I'm thinking about doing it in semi-future but I'm clueless about what paypal type account I should use.

There is Premier and Buisness.
----------------------------
Premier Account
Perfect for both buying and selling. Make secure payments on eBay and merchant websites. Plus, accept credit card, debit card, and bank account payments for low fees.

Business Account
The right choice for your online business. Accept credit card, debit card and bank account payments for low fees.
----------------

I was thinking business but on other hand I don't have a company so don't want to screw myself if I pick the wrong one.

So those of you here who do patreon and commissions which paypal account type do you use?

Thanks in advance

>>
>>2597051
Just use the personal account, you idiot.
>>
>>2598132

but is says that personal has limited "merchant services". If I pick personal account type will I still be able to receive money? From my understanding it is only for buying stuff and sending money. not for receiving.
>>
I use a business account. Suits just fine for commission needs. You don't need a company for it.

A male friend of mine is looking for a nice tatoo to make. He asked me to help him with the drawing, knowing that I can draw a bit.

I've never done something like this before tho, and I don't really think I am talented enough to make something great, but he keep institing that he want something made my be.

Pic releted is a drawing he likes and wants me to change and improve. He want it to be more strong, masculine and aggressive. Any suggestion on how to make it look better?

Raise the contrast by eliminating a large portion of the gradients and/or refine the lines and make it less curvy using sharpened and slightly exaggerated angles.

Well I don't have idea too of how to make this things works. I have never worked on a tatoo before and I don't even consider myself a decent drawer lol.
Anyway, he was thinking about something tribal, so I tried this way. What do you guy thinks? Looks better?
>>
>>2597970
Well, your friend would likely have a differing opinion of it than us, but since you asked, Smooth your outlines and make the flow a bit more accessible. Try not to over do it, but also play around with it until you have a design that quickly registers to a viewer that they are looking at a fox.

Here are some of my fathers artworks /ic/, I hope you like them. Most are in the style of classical portraits and some are mixed with other portrait style.
Almost all are featuring cats so 4chan should like them.

Never really been much into art, but I stumbled across something I really liked the other day on a site called "MorbidoFest" I was wondering if there are any good sites to find art that is sort of Macabre/Cirque/Tarot/Burlesque themed, tried Deviant art but there's not too much of what I'm looking for. Hello, total newb here with a question. Does it make sense to spend a large amount of drawing mechanical objects free hand, or should I use a ruler when it speeds things up? I would imagine the answer is yes practicing free hand, helps develop lining skills, but I know nothing about art.

Yep, when you can't draw straight lines its hard to produce anything of value. Drawing freehand will help you develop the ability to draw straights. Happy drawing friend.
