How can I practice drawing faces?
Do I simply have to use photos of faces? Or should I look for another method?
First try to understand the structure of a regular face, like what is it under the skin you see, proportions and stuff
Then looking at pictures is a good idea to avoid the "same face" in every of your drawings
at this point i dont know what's bait anymore

just bought this fixer upper home. walls need paint and taping needs to be sanded. There's a wacom not shown. But whatever. this is part of my project den.
How did you get over this?
I have this idea of how good I want to be. I can judge if something is good or not. So there is this frustration when I want to make something good but simply can't. Not today, not tomorrow, not in a week and not even this year. So when I am practicing I quickly get frustrated and lose focus and patience. I know there is no way around it but still...
I feel like most people got over this by starting out early before they got really self-conscious about their work and finding enjoyment in the process and not caring about the result.
Any advice?
Literally everyone goes through this. You arent a special snowflake. Just keep drawing

But how did they get over it? Drawing isn't as mechanical as for example working out where you can just go through the motions. Practice has to be deliberate.

Stop overthinking everything and draw.
Hay Ladies and Gentlemen!
I used to post on DA and was happy: awesome site features, nice community, groups... but then I found out about the rules.
They basically hate explicit stuff.
So now I'm wondering where should I go posting my stuff, I'd prefer something different from Hentai Foundry, it lacks some of the features that makes DA cool.
I don't know all the places and I thought to ask here.
The drawing is mine and that's what I like to do.
I'm just looking for a place to post my stuff, receive some hugs and critiques and become better.
With a bit of a stress over networking and linking artists together maybe... 'cause it's nice to make friends :D
Man, that's really disgusting. Study what makes things erotic.
Try soup. it's like dumblr but not run by faggots so they allow all types of smut to be posted.
deviantArt = western, mostly sfw, shitty rules for nsfw
soup = western, both sfw and nsfw
pixiv = non-western, both sfw and nsfw
critique on your image:
- stop running your art through a sharpen effect, it really hurts the eyes to look at.
if you want super crisp edges, just draw lines without anti-aliasing instead.
- red-head has the generic "DreamWorks" face expression.
- the small dick looks like a nose with a raspberry stuck to the end of it, learn how to draw dicks.
Hay thanks a lot I'll check those out. I never quite liked the roughness of people here, there's no need to be rude or trying to be creative in pointing out what you think it's not ok dishing out random sarcasm.
But fair enough.

How does one be original today ? Is it possible not to be a post-modernist, since I feel like everything has been done and originality+quality is almost impossible.
>le everything has already been done meme
assert yourself
Nothing is original everything is based on something
just remember there's a difference between being inspired by something or copying it
Find something that you like or invokes a feeling of inspiration or excitement (read books ,watch movies and shows, read comics and manga etc.) and originality will just follow

Draw what you are interested in, be inspired by art that resonates with your taste and forget about consciously trying to do shit that's never been done before.
That's how you create honest art with a clear artistic voice, which is your closest shot at ever creating something others will perceive as original.
so i realized that photo-bashing is pretty much a required skill for the concept art industry. forgive me because i don't understand too much about it.
question about matte painting and copyright:
1. i used images off google for a matte painting: the artwork in question is not being sold anywhere, just going to put it up on my portfolio website and DA and such. will i get into trouble?
2. how much of the photo(s) can be manipulated until no one comes running at me with a lawsuit? like if i cut out a tree or a hill to use on a painting (like 15 to 20% of the whole photo), will people give a shit?
3. if i manipulate the area that i cut out from the photo enough (stretch/warp/adjust lighting/etc) beyond recognition of its original (no overlays will be able to justify the original) is it free from the copyright?
4. how much of the matte painting can be painted vs copy/pasted? is photo-bashing the whole thing looked down upon?
pic related, a practice piece. pretty much photo-bashed the whole thing, i think i used like 10 different photos

when the texture density of your regular renders approaches photo density you can blend them
fundamentals first. perspective, camera, lighting, fog, values, color
>>2595039
but that doesn't answer my questions at all

what in particular do i have to change?
Any good streams or youtubers related to drawing or painting ? All I can think of is Bob Ross
If possible long videos or streams
There is also this Feng Zhu guy I heard about here, but he seems to be an elitist prick from what I've heard

Hey anons! I'm going on vacation in a few days for two weeks. My plan is to just drink, read, and workout but I really want to learn how to draw and think itll be a great time to do so.
I have the Loomis archive downloaded but what supplies should i bring with me?
Paper and pen hopefully. A ruler is nice too.
>>2595612
A couple pencils, a kneaded and a block eraser, a snap-off knife, a sketchbook and maybe a few micron pens.
I always see people who go in for art classes and ateliers and stuff say that they have to get the students to unlearn all sorts of bad habits.
What are they talking about familialia? Are the schools just shilling for themselves or are there paths you go down that will hold you back? I'm talking technical things, not motivation stuff.

Yeah there are. Drawing in "styles" like anime or cartoon when you're a shitty beginner trying to draw a life study
So I am considered to be on some kind of fucked up "legally blind" scale because of a visual impairment I have. My eyes are shit, but what kills me is that I have nerve damage in them to the point where I see everything off that it actually is in reality.
It's very annoying, and it has left me bumping into many walls, dropping nearly everything I try to touch, and not allowed to drive.
It makes drawing extremely difficult for me. I can only zoom so much, but are there any other good tools for visually impaired artists? I use the fuck out of ruler guides, but making actual lines in relation to x-body part is still a huge bitch for me.
My main program I use is Sai. Any suggestions on how to handle my handicap?
Give up on 2d and learn 3D

I just work more with my imagination, I cannot copy, but I can build things alright. And work planning a bit before hand. I also see badly. Somehow, people likes it and tend to think my work is great even with its flaws. I'm slow as fuck, tho, so I will never work as a pro,
That was my experience, OP. I hope it helps you.

Those are some delicious yummy looking ribs
So I did a MS paint along to old Bob Ross. Came out better than I was expecting. See the pic, but for those of you willing to go through the pain of watching. https://youtu.be/nwbFrspQsZc. Don't be too harsh.
Are you colorblind or what
>>2595018
Because I could match ms paint colors exactly to what he had? Yea. Ok
>>2595018
Plus no blend tool in ms paint..... I think that would help alot.
post what you are working on and others will try and help you out.
I need some general critique before i move to coloring. Design, anatomy, armor etc.
Does this look 3-D??
I really just need a yes or a no.

If anyone could redline I'd appreciate it.
I'm not exactly sure how to do twisting forms in space when they become more complicated than a cube.
I drew this too, but its base form was a sphere in a cube.
I'd like to know if it looks 3D also.
My biggest problem has been over coming my flat art. I feel like I've gone pretty far form where I was, but I don't know how much I should fixate on 3D forms.
Does anyone know good ways to learn form faster? I've been drawing from life, and it has helped me a lot. Right now I'm going through draw a box for the 2nd time.
