Hey,

I apologize ahead of time if this may be partially in the wrong area. However, I have always gotten amazing assistance from some great artists here. I am trying to find a great concept art book for a present for my brother. He tends to like fantasy, horror, etc.

>Conan
>Warcraft
>Legacy of Kain
>Diablo

any suggestions on artists or books would be fantastic.

Thanks ahead of time /ic/

Maybe John Howe or Alan Lee. They mostly do LotR, but there's other stuff in some of them.

Been trying for ages to find out more about this artist. I talked to on Deviantart back in August, a girl from Tokyo, Japan. The most bizarre Expressionist artist I had ever met here... She would upload a couple of drawings at a time, and then delete them all less than a day later, uploading and deleting multiple times over. Her artwork was so full of emotion and confusion, almost to the point of total madness. It was clear from what I was able to translate that she was going through some deep internal struggle.

Needless to say, I luckily managed to save some of her drawings before she deactivated her profile and left without a trace anywhere on the web. There were also some mp3 recordings from her equally strange Soundcloud profile, before that too was deleted. I'll post a link to those if anyone is interested.

She suffered from very bad anxiety and feelings of isolation, but instead of allowing her negative thoughts to overwhelm her, she used these emotions as a tool in her drawings, as a way of releasing all of her energy. She said it was a very therapeutic way of getting rid of all of her sadness and frustration, and effective in calming herself down.

She unfortunately left DA, and deleted all of her artwork from literally everywhere on the web. However, I was a big fan of her work, and I saved a lot of her work to archive it. It's extremely rare that I see an artist who draws with such vivid energy.

Yes, go watch a few and listen to how much he contradicts himself, a good one is the "what to draw" video.

I want to make money making a blog about how to learn to draw.

Sincet here's too many and I'm not great at english, I searched in my tacospeak and found there's not a good spanish website to learn to draw.

Seems like I hit a gold mine.

Any advice on what should I put, what should I talk about?

Anyone here making money with an art blog?

Lessons on fundamentals, paid product reviews, interviews with tacopacos in the industry. Ads for naruto games. Millions of pesos will come your way.
>>
Just copy everything on ctrl+paint and whatever drawing books you like, and translate it.

>goldmine
You know most people who can access online and have the time to draw can probably speak engrish, also you are forgetting that step by step and video tutorials can be followed by anyone.

Is there an illustration of how good you should be at certain age? I know its all relative for everyone but I still want to know if I am complete trash or can I still make it

of course not.it all depends on when you personally start. if you start at age 20, then you should be good by age 25 if you didn't fuck around.

how old are you?

its not an issue, just move it onto you and then compare. Thats not a problem at all.

I am 23.

Anyone else terrified of reading stories like this? It also really blows my mind... I would have thought at 900$/month, if you add 400-600$ worth of commissions... one should be able to get by when living frugally, or not??? I'm making around 1k$ a month doing commissions only, and I seem to be doing alright.

What gives? He mentions debt being a deciding factor... probably student debt, right? What payment does the average student with his 100k loan have to make every month?

Let's all come together, have a collective group hug, and tell eachother that we're all going to make it. Because I do not want to have to get a job :( :( :( :(

might not be student debt. it's possible that he's simply irresponsible with money and got carried away buying shit he can't afford.
>>

So 90% of every artist who will ever have a patreon or do commissions. Aka kids out of highschool with no idea how the world works and go right into selling digital artwork.

Hey guys.

Yes, I'm abusing new content to milk for views on YouTube, let's skip that part.

This is a screenshot of a full-screen portrait recording on an iPhone 5S on a 1920x1080 background.

What is the size of the black bars on the outside, and more helpful, could you provide a blank or even custom template?

This is the first time I've made a video on a phone game.

Also, yes, I'm recording on a non-jailbroken iPhone, but I won't say how because I'm not sure if it's against the rules to advertise the method as it's technically not free, so let me know the grounds on that, too.

Thank you!

You have good camera charisma which is good for a vlog. One good thing to always keep in mind for dialogue: Everything that you say needs to have relevance to the subject of the video. People tend to get bored by side banter or unnecessary comments, and due to everyone's small attention span nowadays you want to keep people interested.
You could definitely cut down content in the beginning, because a lot of it is setting up and there's nothing really for an audience to latch onto.

The Intro shot itself can be shortened, and I would find a better font for any words in the video. Helvetica, Futura, anything san-serif with that's good and bold is nice.

At about five minutes in, you bring some really cool information about why you caught that fish. I'd looove to have more of that right up front or at least 3 minutes earlier. That way, I'm not wasting time watching the first five minutes wondering why I clicked on this video in the first place.

If this is your first attempt, it's pretty good. It's a matter of just doing more and more and you'll figure out what works best for you.

Take a look at Casey Neistat, his vlogs are primarily dialogue, but he breaks it up with transitions of time-lapses with a cool beat. Or if he has a long sequence of action, he breaks it up with dialogue. It's a dance between Talking to the audience and Showing the audience something. And perfecting this is really, really hard. Cut any of the fat that might hinder this dance, and you'll be golden.
It's a lot of trial and error, but keep going.
