Why is it so hard to profit from making porn?
Same guy. He made a thread on Newgrounds.

Is this you OP?
Here's why people fail
>draws like shit
>no followers/fanbase (need min 100,000 to make $1000/mo)
Why would someone pay for a pic of feces?
Why would someone pay a non-famous artist they can't show off to their friends on IG?
You have no value until you get good.
You have no market until you get well-known.
Are you guys actually saying no where on the internet does this exist for free download?
>>2388283
I've seen the book, one of my friends has it. There are about half a dozen artists worth looking at, the rest look like they came from here.

I made this music video thing. it's only about two minutes long. care to critique?
https://vimeo.com/154692522
is anyone else having trouble with vimeo? the videos don't even start anymore
i love the tones of black and white in this. like a lot
I would probably slow the clips down and make fading transitions to make the video more interesting and give it a better flow along with the music. Also I think you forgot to remove the sound on the second to last clip
After drawing on paper for ages, I wanna try out some tablets, what are some properly functioning ones that are in the low-mid price range?
Wacom anything. I switch between a cintiq and a cheapo bamboo fun, both get the job done equally well. You can't go wrong with wacomâ„¢

I'm going to my first live draw session tonight I thought I'd post some sketches I've done, worried that my stuff is pleb their and I should practice more before I go to one
>>2390639
>That my stuff is pleb their
Your sentence makes no sense whatsoever.
You're still symbol-drawing, so you wont get much out of life-drawing-sessions at this point. It would be more or less a total waste of money. You have to learn how to observe, and how to draw first.
>pleb tier
And I thought it would be useful to go to for references rather than pictures
Also these took me about 10 mins each
What do you suggest then?
>>2390644
anon, keep going to them. but look at other artist's works and talk to them too.
>>2390640 is absolutely right. you're drawing animu symbols when you have a real human being alive in front of you. if you can't see that difference, you are wasting your time and money going to the sessions. you can make these same "references" at home looking up pictures. at this stage, you might be better off doing that and grinding anatomy (boxes).
you're brave to go (it's frightening to draw in front of/with others, no?). your time will be worth much more if you actually talk to other people. at the least, say hi to whoever the best artist is.
Hey /ic/ I just recently started getting into making comics but something isn't clicking with my technique. Wondering if there is anyone else who makes comics who can give any advice.
Starting with some of the panels i'm more happy with.
Memory vs reference! Pick an animal. Only draw it from memory then draw it from a reference image
i fucked up
>>2381564
I did this the other day and tried to get a critique of yhe process from my drawing one professor, guess which one he liked more.
>>2381564
This is so freaky, I wanted to make this exact thread like a few weeks ago. I was going to post a random animal generator link. I tried it but I kind of fucked myself on the one I did at first so I might try again later. Here's the generator I used though. https://www.randomlists.com/random-animals
You have to change it to show 1 animal and cover up the picture area so you can just read the name without seeing the reference.
What career opportunities are there for someone interested in art?
College applications are right around the corner and soon I'm going to have to make a choice that will effect the rest of my life, I want it to be a good one. Animation, graphic design...? what else?
>inb4 drop art
I'm fucking useless in every other subject not an option.
I would personally go with graphic design. I am a graphic artist working in Cincinnati and there are always jobs around. There is also opportunities to freelance on the side for small businesses needing a logo designed or even art for a website.
How do I become vending machine cover deisgner in japan?
>>2391733
sigh
picking a college and choosing a major won't affect the rest of your life. your attitude will. whatever you pick, just know that it's absolutely up to you to do the work, learn, and grab the opportunities.
if you're straight up looking for a job, just get an associates degree in graphic design and just go find internships and/or a job. save money, save time, be an adult. i bet by the time you graduate with a 4-year degree, your degree isn't going to get you a lot of places, because everyone else has one.
don't wait around for us to tell you what to do. grow dem nuts and man up.
Is there such a thing has a bob ross of portraits? I painted along with him for a couple of episodes and was very happy with the results. You quickly understand how dark and light interact to create the exact shape he's looking for. I then tried to make a female head but was still stuck in a loop of "this is too dark/light" and blending everything together, not knowing where to put the sharp lines of dark and light.
The 25 minute format is also very fun to follow because of how quick he is. You're working on something different every 2 minutes so it's always dynamic.
I'd like to know to but to be honest just go learn shapes and forms, op. the face is so easy to fuck up and the best way to go about it is just learning all those basic things and applying them.
>>2389396
> Face is easy as fuck
>draws forms but they still look like symbols
Show me how to do it, oh mighty one

m8 can you read? he said the face is so easy to fuck up, not that its easy as fuck
Friends with a girl who paints. Wanted to get her a gift for valentine's. I was thinking about a decent set of brushes or some such, but I don't really know anything about painting. Was hoping I could get a few recommendations or at least pointed in the right direction? Or other gift ideas are welcome too
Thanks for any help

offer yourself as a nude model
Has anyone tried this?
The other day I was doing some bs team building exercises with some coworkers each one had to do something with some generic play-doh I ended up making a quite characteristic female torso just using my hands and a bic pen cap and I was extremely surprised by how intuitive the whole thing was,
Before this I had the idea that sculpting was a considerably different beast now I'm not saying that it must be easy but I can imagine it helping me to grasp form and perspective much faster and perhaps even making something decent stuff in the future.
Anyway, I'm planning to start with these:
http://www.amazon.com/Sculpt-Pro-Deluxe-Pottery-Sculpting/dp/B00CTTLZOA/
www.amazon.com/Monster-Clay-Premium-Grade-Modeling/dp/B008UZHP6Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1454948522&sr=8-2&keywords=oil+based+clay
Is this a sound idea? (fwiw I plan to use the NMA videos to get started with.) If so would you recommend these items or any others?
Also, I'm quite confused about what kind of clay I should use (wax, water or oil based) and if I should buy something for finishing it,

Just use super sculpey for your first sculptures.
Also get some aluminium or steel wire for armatures.
Idk where you live, but a store like Michaels has cheap wooden bases/plaques for about a dollar.
Also get some screws/washers for attaching your armature to the base.
Tin/Aluminium foil is also good for bulking large masses to reduce clay usage and reduces weight.
Then, when you're done, you can bake them, paint them or even cast them if you so desire.

The floral wire is used for smaller things like fingers, and toes.
Screws and screwdrivers and washers you can pick up at your local hardware store.
That sculpting set looks good, but you really don't need that many tools. Sculpt with your hands for the majority of the scuplture, then detail or hard-to-reach areas with tools.
Start off decently sized (8 - 10 inches is pretty good) and make sure you have a good idea of what you're going to be making. Make a good turnaround of your creature/figure and base the armature off of that.
You just gotta dive into it. Make sure you have reference.
What do you guys think about 3D sculpting with ZBrush or Sculptris?
General art discussion thread on how to define art.
What important qualities does art have to have in order to be considered art ?
What do you consider important aspects of art that you can consider it good? ______ +______= good art
What artists/works/genres is a good example of your opinions on what art is/isn't?
Discussion of all types of media (fine art, sculpture, digital art etc.) welcome.

Art is whatever I say it is.
>>2390777
this thread is retarded. the definition of art varies according to time and culture, and within a particular time and culture is used to describe various related but separate concepts.
>>2390818
>the definition of art varies according to time and culture, and within a particular time and culture is used to describe various related but separate concepts.
No shit retard the point of this thread it to discuss the various definitions and value of art as well as your own opinions on the subject.
Or do you even have any?
I've been oil painting for years, but all i ever use is oil paint straight from the tube. I always notice entire isles in the art store full of oil painting mediums and stuff and it's just been too overwhelming to wrap my head around. What are mediums and should I be using them?
>>2390227
>What are mediums and should I be using them?
>I've been oil painting for years
...are...are you sure?
different artists have their favorite mixes of medium with all sorts of stuff. i don't know the fine tuning stuff of oils but i do know that linseed is the standard basic one.
i like /The Complete Oil Painter: The Essential Reference for Beginners to Professionals/ by Brian Gorst a lot. i highly recommend this book if you want to continue to flaunt your experience with oil.
>>2390244
>are you sure?
Yes, like I said I just use the oil paint out of the tube. I thought stuff like mediums were option and I just never looked into them.
>>2390248
it's a simple google search away, my friend
for instance, i found this eye gore website when i googled "oil painting 101":

What's the point of fucking learning to draw, if you forget everything in a moment. I took a break for a month because i had quite huge personal issues which couldnt let me to focus and so on... and now I dont know a damn thing. I have to get through tedious basic stuff which only makes me frustrated. How much fun
>>2389873
The worst part is going through basics made me hate drawing so much and now I have to go back to this shithole where i cant draw nothing I would like to.
