Seeing as I have the skill level of -10/10 Where in the world do I start? Along with drawabox, what should I be doing to go from not being able to draw a damn thing, to being able to do realistic character art?

Numerous people have said to avoid the sticky so thats what I am doing. And read the Loomis books. Proko, I can't stand his cringeworthy humor. And Robertson seemingly has an extreme hardon for mechs. So what should I do aside from drawabox?

Why did Ricky Gervais ridicule Karl Pilkington for his favorite artist being L. S. Lowry? I hadn't heard of him, I guess he's bigger in the UK than in America, but I quite like his paintings.

He he just too sentimental? Like an English Grandma Moses or something?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2396357
Because that's their dynamic. Ricky doesn't actually care what Karl says, and often Karl says things that aren't stupid, but are only said in a profoundly stupid way and Ricky will still bust his balls for it.
>>
>>2396370
This pretty much. Karl could cure cancer and Ricky would still call him a bald headed twat.
>>
>>2396370
>>2396378

But this was like a real conversation, and it's not like Ricky rejects reasonable things Karl say, sometimes he even agrees with him. I just didn't know if there was just some sort of consensus about L. S. Lowry among sophisticated English people that would make them disdain him, something that would be common knowledge to English people but go over American's heads.

People will readily acknowledge that you need some sort of a natural neurological predisposition towards maths or music.

But talen't don't real with visual arts and it's all just conditioning and practice?

Hmm.

Please make it original and please use MS paint, that's a big thing.

Do you recall the last time you got a sudden spike in your learning curve?

What were you drawing when all of a sudden, you just sudden "got" it? And what aspect was it that suddenly got a lot smoother for you after a long plateau?

Recently, shadow shapes describing the 3rd dimension on smaller forms. I'm a beginner and this shit blew my mind. I went on to start putting shadow onto my form studies and it's a lot more fun now. Especially when the shape pops off the page.

I've come into a bit of money and it seems like its time for me to get one of those arms for my Intuos so I can actually draw from the shoulder instead of having it basically be flat on the table.

What to get? Are they strong? I dont want to overspend, or underspend.

I'm talking about a swivel arm like this. Note : I have an intuos, not a cintiq so it has no mounting bracket.
>>
>>2392829
look up cookbook holders
>>
>>2392883
They wont be strong enough when I push on them for pressure drawing to not tip over

Nor will they be able to move vertically / horizontally depending on where I want to draw, and if i want to stand and draw for example.

If you want to be a succesful digital artist in vidya games you have to know about
>perspective
>anatomy
>environments
>clothes
>poses
>non humans (robots and such)
>architecture
>weapons (swords and rifles)
And all of this is in general, of course there are many details you have to remember about. You wont live with your parents forever, so how can you learn about all of this in moderately quick span of time?

you don't. just get facebook likes.

This is like asking " how do I get a masters in medicine in one years time?

It doesn't happen.
You will have to work a job you don't want to while you study as much as possible for multiple years.
That is, unless your parents will let you stay with them.
If you want to learn afap join a atelier and grind.

If we haven't met, Hello, I'm Boxman, a man with a box attached to my head since birth. I'm trying to make it as an art model and take pose requests.
Before making a request though, check boxman.booru.org to see if If I've already done said pose.

With that out of the way, I can do close ups, running, dynamic, yadda yadda. you can request a prop and I'll do my best to find one.

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, There is a question thread for that.

Visit the usual "Art book Thread" to find your desired books.

Do not forget to PLEASE RESIZE and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.

→ → → → Before asking "what should I read/view/study/learn," Read the f*cking sticky, it's there for a reason: >>1579290 → → → → → → →

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're a baddie.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless. (hint: post a child porn and your full name if you would like replies)

What makes for a really challenging life drawing?

Personally I use power tools and they're very hard to draw.

I'm not good at it yet and this is a very rushed study, but nothing really forces you to truly look at angles and perspective more than a power-drill standing on an angle.

What are other household objects that are very hard to draw?

I'm definitely going back to this as soon as I can.

Plants, if you do it academically and don't fudge proportions
>>
>>2390807
I don't even know where to begin on how to de-construct a leaf

Can you show me some of your studies
>>
Why bother? Power tools in the essence are nothing more than just cylinders and boxes stacked on each other, get side\top view with proportions from life and then construct it however you wish in any pov you wish.
As for leaves, midrib is key to construction, again, why even bother with that level of detail it is counter-productive, but if you wish, treat it like symmetrical\asymmetrical surface on centerspline-midrib and be done with it

Dump any sketchbook pages you have saved. God-tier or student-tier, doesn't matter. Digital or traditional. Who cares.

Just need inspiration, like the rest of you.
