Wasn't entirely sure were to post this so feel free to redirect me if needed, thanks.
So i have had a hobby since the tender age of 13... making Transformer designs on word using shapes. I have come a loong way from my original process of creating them and now im a wee bit more comfortable sharing them here on 4chan. First up will be three recent designs and if you guys like them I'll share more.
Thank you for your time.
Here is a "steampunked" train Omega Supreme.
This is what happens when I watch Batman and Transformers in the same day and realize electric plugs are like a Batman cowl....
And Shockwave... I have different designs of him with different Cybertronian alt modes, he is a fun character to mess with.

>since the tender age of 13
So what are you now? 14?
I just got this customized portfolio for my book because I treat my work like a future artifact.
How do the anons here care for their supplies and work?
Do you treat them with respect or do you treat them like whatever?

DON'T TOUCH MY BABIES

rip it up in as many pieces I can and trow it on the bin, eventually burn it if I feel like doing so

>DON'T TOUCH MY BABIES
Agreed
>rip it up in as many pieces I can and trow it on the bin, eventually burn it if I feel like doing so
Yea, I did this too
I posted my main tools though, the one I use above all of them is the Marsmatic 700. I got the case just for the Marsmatic, the Esterbrook and Koh-I-Noor were featured guests.
OK faggots, does anyone know the dude who drew this? I've seen tons of shit here with his style being fairly recognizable. I assume it's someone recognizable.

If I posted the only thing I've drawn today I'd probably get a low effort warning. I really tried but I had such a shit day I can't even fucking remember how to draw.
Has /ic/ always been this shitty?
Recently I've noticed that the quality of the sticky has been lower than what I remembered but I'm sure it hasn't changed
I feel like the overall quality of art posted is lower too
And the amount of shitposting
Something really needs to be done to stop this board from becoming like the other mainstream shitposting boards on this site
Look at /po/ do you see such shitposting there? we're /ic/ we should be better than this
I think there should be a way to stop people posting unless they've somehow proved they've read through sticky properly
>>2391797
1. were making a second sticky
2. your skill improved, all boards have been the same forever
3. you just started noticing the shit posting.
4. youre selectively remembering, nostalgia.
Every single website has always said " isnt X getting worst"
many are troll posts
i do miss the where you are/where you want to be threads
>>2391813
then fucking make one god damn you. you're dumb
I was wondering which is better for a beginner? Betty Edwards "Drawing on the Right Side if the Brain" or Claire Garcia "Drawing for the Absolute and Utter Beginner".
I ask because i hear Betty's book can be long winded or such with 400+ pages but Claires book is much shorter? Is there much difference between the two? Should i study both or pick one?
>>2391742
drawing on the right side of the meme is just someone rambling on about pseudo science.
Get some Loomis in ya
>>2391746
Nose bro, love ya senpai but that's only partly correct.
Drawing on the right side of the senpai does have exercises that teach the total beginner how to perceive their surroundings and draw exactly what they see.
If you don't even know where to start, that book is a cheap way to get you going in the right direction.
Leading up to books like Loomis of course.
The sticky is actually a bait for beginners to make them generic, average artists. Every good artist has been learning in art schools and so on... It's pathetic to keep this illusion that everyone can make it.

I gave up seeing that you have to pay a lot of money to actually progress. What can I accomplish by drawing circles in Photoshop all day? You need a mentor, someone who can fix your shit and guide you. Of course you will still do most of the work.
Beginner animation thread?
How do I make shit smoother. This is all frame by frame free hand.
Here's my other one, less proud of this one. Don't like it at all.
there's an animation thread, anon, check the catalog
>>2390122
they're both shit, but at least this one is actually of something
So here is a story
>be me
>work as videogame artist sinse 2007 but always freelance only.
>ALWAYS using E-MAIL only. never had Skype talks except wiht 1 foreign friend 6-7 times
>fat
>shitty looking face because of that
>have no idea how to act on webcamera and talk
>I can write tons of text and ideas in non stop and impress my clients making their d/ic/ks go diamons
>but i dont have vocal/social skills so i probably wont do the same professional quality on camera
So im working with these people - husband and wife - they are Indie devs and i was making game with them for more than a year.
Now they having a sub-project and his wife sent me a message asking IF I HAVE SKYPE so we can quickly discuss ideas for it today.
I havent sleep properly for 2 days and look like an ass.
I didn't cut my hair (but that's ok i will use hair gel)
QUESTIONS:
What do?!
Is she checking me on adequacy? because there MIGHT be a chance of further working with them and going to their city to work in their office.
May be she wants to see me to see if im "cool" and not some weird ass moron?
I mean...im kinda am because i go to bed at 6AM and get up at 18:00PM because im a freelance artist so i dont care about my life.
And i didn't cared about my look either because i thought that my art skills should be the priority and i quickly can "return back to Normal" when time comes.
Im not ready for today's skype talk!!!
But how to tell her? Hooly shit...I don't even have a proper look of my room because im a dork and at the back i have a shelf full of toys (no not anime girls, just some toys like TMNT action figures and stuff like that) and it will take time to remove that shelf.
Please help!
Do Indie Developers even care about look of their artists they working with?
Does my look of a "shitty sleepy face" even matters?
Should i wear better clothes when going to Skype? Or should i look more causal but not too "poor"?
I just REALLY dont want to make a bad impression.
>>2391989
Also sorry for my enlglish-that's not my language.
ALSO an important question - can i politely tell them "TEXT ONLY"?
And will it scare them away making them think that im some kind of weirdo that dont want to show his face?
Should i tell something like "oh im sorry i didnt sleep properly so i look awful!" joking about that so it will look "clean"?
>>2391989
I've personally ever equated skyping with camming. I've only used a headset on skype. Have they specifically asked to cam with you and see your face? If not they might just want to talk to you and then it's no different than a phone call. Or, you could just tell them that you don't have a cam you know.
>>2391989
I can see why you posted this here but this is more of a /adv/ thing man.
I would use that board in the future.
In my opinion though, get the fuck up and go get a haircut.
Take a shower and shave. Then be a professional and talk to them.
Shes a married woman man, who cares? You're going to talk strictly business.
If they freak out about your appearance for some stupid reason then fuck em.
But you need to work on that.
Just because you are a freelance artist does not mean that you shouldn't take care of yourself.
Have some self respect for Christ's sake. Go clean yourself up.
Going to the gym once a week wouldn't hurt either you fat fuck.
/ic/, what tips do you have for blending with a Photoshop hard round brush? Particularly in as few strokes as possible, and without leaving a shitton of overlapping muddy strokes.
If you don't have tips, let's make this into a challenge for ourselves. Try to make a reasonably rendered sketch using a hard round while abiding by the constraints below:
No blending modes, no more than one layer, no size jitter, flow and opacity only, non-pressure flow and opacity at 100%, spacing at 25%, hardness at 100%. No eraser. White BG.
And before anyone gets on my ass while ranting about how digital shouldn't be treated as traditional, stop trying to act superior, blah blah, this really isn't about that at all.
I want to improve my skills, particularly to develop the ability to do more with less. No condescension, just want to improve my fundamentals and simply be better. If any of you anons have advice, it'd be much appreciated.
If you guys want an example of what I'm on about, Anthony Jones' "Alleb" and "Jas" videos kinda get the point when smudge brush isnt introduced (inb4 someone brings up another Jones shitstorm)
>>2391074
shove your constraints up your asshole faggot
you wanna learn how to blend in ps or how to eat soup with chopsticks?
>>2391088
Easy there, commando. It's just a challenge. Don't let it scare you too badly, now.
Last Thread >>2379650
This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

Let's have a thread where we can share our progress of doing Bargue plates, starting with the first one!
How to "Charles Bargue" plates?
I'm having difficulty at doing the first eye of the first plate of this exercise. I even borrowed an easel and all to do this and I couldn't even set the grid properly. The lines just come out wriggly. Am I going too fast? Is the overhand grip the right one for doing these exercises?
Am I doing it right?
>>2390659
resize your images god dammit
>the lines just come out wriggly
use a ruler, draw the grid first. It's there to help you sight and measure.
Does this painting suck?
Pretentious
It's not rendered out, but what's actually there is pretty good
Hard to read, but the colours are pretty. Polish it more and it'll be sexy.
So it doesn't suck, just not done yet
