Ok, let me see if I can TLDR the sticky to something more competent:
Firstly, Draw what you see, not what you think you see. Draw the actual shapes, not what your brain says the shapes look like.
Think of said shapes you just drew as 3D objects, shade accordingly.
Study forms such as still life, figure drawings, follow steps 1 and 2, rinse, repeat.
Am I right so far? Or am I going to get like, "drawing shapes is symbol drawing" or some shit.
>>2388488
Have the mods ever talked about remaking the sticky?
>>2388491
Hell if I know, but I have seen a few people on here say that the sticky is full mainly of bullshit/backwards.
>>2388488
The sticky is fine. The sticky not being fine is also a meme in of itself to confuse idiots like you who can't think for themselves.
I have a problem, /ic/.
I just can't finish art.
I have the requisite skill for all the bits and pieces, but I can never find the patience to put them together. After drawing one thing, my brain just sort of shuts down and moves on like a tape clicking to the next track.
It's something that even Adderall, in it's infinite focus, couldn't bull though. I spent so many years doing simple, repetitive doodles that I'm permanently stuck in the same mindframe; the same mode.
So how do I re-teach myself? Every conscious effort thus far has been crushed under the weight of habit, and with each passing year I draw less and less. It seems a shame to waste a skill that came so naturally.
>>2387317
just keep going you fucking faggot. no art is finished merely abandoned etc etc etc. just get good and you'll push the level of your "unfinished" drawings. cunt.
>>2387321
I'm afraid your answer doesn't make much sense, anon.
The deficiency isn't one of technical skill, but of patience or habit.
I'll undoubtedly continue to improve. Some day I may be able to render an eye perfectly.
But I'd like to be able to draw the whole person. And the room around the person. And fully shade it. And fully color it.
If, as you say, that no art is finished merely abandoned, then my trouble is that I abandon it very quickly.
>>2387338
I should reiterate, perhaps, that in theory I should be able to render complete pieces. As I said, I have the necessary skill.
The trouble is that if, for a few minutes I draw an eye, and then stop, I never learned how to continue. I can sketch a face, and at a certain point my mind will think "this is done." And if I wish to go back and add to it, I simply don't know how. The part of my brain working with visual organization doesn't quite grasp the idea of continuity - it just works in little vignettes. So everything just ends up as separate little sketches on the same page, instead of one whole drawing.
And I would like to unlearn that. It is something necessary to push the "level of my unfinished drawings.":
>you will never be this good
My inkjet printer is more skilled
>>2381575
sure
That doesn't really concern me and is no reason to stop trying.
What did I do wrong. Why are the colors not mixing?
>>2388590
Use a brush, not the blur/blend tool
here you go OP, helpful lil pic
>>2388600
Thx bruv
If I was 9
>>2388430
is that mr. pebbles?
>>2388435
Looks like it was drawn from a nine year old too.
What's the best way to prevent hand pain?
I wanna git gud not arthritis.
>>2387816
>best way to prevent hand pain
Not draw obviously
>>2387828
cool, I'm really good at this!
Do hand stretches for carpal tunnel prevention every hour or so when drawing. It's good to take breaks anyway.
There was a hand exercise going around saying to hold your thumb inside your fist and angle your wrist down to stretch that muscle (forget the name). Don't do that.
I just lost a potential client because I undercharged. at 200$/day. This would have been my second non-private client ever. Because things started out super casual and friendly I had no issues chatting a bit after being rejected for the project. I conceded being somewhat of a rookie and asked for feedback and input on why I did not get the gig despite my work sparking interest. Straight up was told my daily rate revealed me as being inexperienced.
Interesting isn't it.
So doing some thinking I came to the conclusion that past a certain point staying on /ic/ is purely toxic. Because it will make you convinced you are just never good enough. This is great for growth and development, technically, but incredibly harmful at the same time because you will always undercharge, and under-selfpromote. Both of which will hold you back massively if you want to transition into making art an eventual full time job.
>>2385726
u tryin to imply niggers only use 10% of their brain?
>>2385726
well, they're not wrong. that's $25/h which sounds good but you're a contractor. That means you have to provide for yourself everything that an employer normally does for you. What you told them is that you'd essentially be willing to work for them for a take home pay of around $16/h
Some people are willing to take advantage of those who undercharge, some won't hire you because it's a sign of inexperience and they want a professional. Do a little research next time and don't forget that how much you get paid is a negotiation. Find out what you should be paid and ask for at least the medium.
Don't blame IC for your inexperience. This has nothing to do with confidence and everything to do with you not knowing how the real world works. Use google next time
Post your work please?
this fucking fag is so lame and gypster.
only burger will fall for that
fucking telepsychologist
just try to prove me wrong
>>2380615
Fuck your bad vibes, breh.
This is now a reference thread.
>>2380615
how to make something like this, how were the words put into the tape?
>>2388312
like that
https://www.google.com/search?q=letter+sheet&tbm=shop#tbm=shop&q=vinyl+letter+sheet
>>2388316
so just lay sheet on top of tape and fill in?
I have a lot more practice than knowledge when it comes to drawing. What am I doing wrong, and how do I make my drawings look natural instead of stilted and rigid?
>>2388341
That's not very helpful. You should draw over his drawing to show him your awesome skills.
>>2388348
nhaa... im doing my homework right now
someone posts this. left is student thesis, right is anime
https://i.gyazo.com/6e876d5958447f270e83ab56ea797b41.gif
guy from cartoon network defends student artist saying this is not copying or plagiarism and is only referencing and everyone in the industry does it so its ok.
where do people draw the line? is copying fine as long as you dont copy every single frame?
It's a bit too close imo, but running animations are always similar and you'll always get reuse, especially when on a tight schedule.
Artistic integrity might suffer a little, but sometimes you have to get the product out.
That said I have no idea where this is from and I'm assuming it's from some show and the animator needed to get it done quickly so he copied yoshi.
>>2382403
>>2382414
>implying /ic/ was ever good.
Can we talk about artists taking advantage of paid clients? Look at Breeding Season, after all the money they get they still haven't done art, added in animation, color changes properly etc etc. Why do people keep giving them money after all these mistakes and quite honestly, lack of work?
>>2381971
bc people are fucking idiots. and so are you, if you are not exploiting that fact.
gumroad tuts: the same exact fucking tutorials over and over and over again, they are even available for free
for-pay-brushes: what the fuck i don't even
furry and fetish porn drawings: easypeasy 800$ per month
>>2381971
Holy shit they're still working on that? I played that ages and thought it was boring. It amazes me how dumb people can be.
>>2382040
They get like $24k/month.
It's time for the monthly attempt to make a ceramics/sculpture/clay thread.
Here are some buttholes I made out of ceramics.
Mazel tov.
>buttholes
pls stop being degenerate, what would bubbe think?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWgxPipnGS8
Why?
pretty interesting to look at
I'm the artist but I'm not an artist.
It took me two hours and was for me a test of my mental abilities.
The perfection is not of the essence but the white noise is.
What do you recognise intuitively?
Can you imagine, that the consciousness has a choice where to reside?
ayy lmao, more Loomis
>>2387808
You should get it framed. Sign the back. What's it called?
>>2387970
its called me but me within
I don't know where to start with acrylic painting but I would like to paint in a similar style to the pic. Could anyone steer me in the right direction
>>2387364
Dood it's just a fucking animu with meh rendering.
Just copy similar stuff and u will learn.
