Loomis.
How do I achieve shading like pic related? Is this some kind of crosshatching?
http://keimeguro.com/
A link to his website if it helps. He does say he uses photoshop in his FAQ but only to clean up smudges. Can I still achieve the shading traditionally?
>>2452798
Light straight hatching, maybe smoothed with a tortillon. I'd guess.
>>2452792
If you look close (zoom in if it helps) you'll see the drawstrokes.
There's no magic at play here, he's just using very light strokes and the direction of them lways follows the form of the subject, and he's obviously very skilled at it. Read Loomis, he explains all of this.
It should be possible to do this with pencils in fact it looks like pencils to me.
Let's have a t/3/apots lewd thread since such things aren't allowed on /3/.

We don't treat photobashers kindly around here, fuck off back to /3/

its already too late /3/ has invaded

Is an objective art necessary, or simply a outdated remnant of a centralized Modernist society?
>>2453486
Meant Braque, but it's actually a Picasso. The other is a Gris, he BTFO of Picasso in terms of colour.
>>2453487
The problem is subjectivity. See Postmoderism, what is good is a fractured mess dependent on your life. There is no one context, we don't have an institution say this is good art, nor any rules to break. PM despair is a bitch. Art is dead! Objectivity is dead, all is equal, Chumbum is God.
But we can't have one objective art, without a collective goal to work towards we make little progress and repeat ourselves. A centralized art is doomed and necessary. See Postpostmoderism or Metamodernism for a restructuring of Art.

Finest of taste or generic junk of shit?
I'm making a go fund me where I'm going to turn some 5x7 mermaid art into postcard prints for $5 backers. I'veneverscannedwiththeideatoprintthough and I'm nervous/scared.
I scan it in at 600 dpi? Is that necessary?
Is really all I need to do is just play with the contrast?
>>2451980
are you popular? that's all that matters.
>>2452004
I have no doubt that I will be able to sell 250 prints matched with my current financial situation, and my art is kitchy cute, so. Let's say "sure".
How should I edit the art for a print? Let's say vista print?
>>2451980
Scan at whatever the max optical (not interpolated) resolution of the scanner is, and then resize the file to whatever size and resolution your output is going to be. You shouldn't do more than fix contrast and color / saturation depending on the quality of your scanner; maybe reduce noise and sharpen a bit since prints tend to come out a little softer than the digital image.
There is a '.locky' virus floating around now that will encrypt all your files. It just fucked my shit up and I lost all my precious photos on the :C drive and it started making it's way on my external. Luckily it didn't cause too much damage since I plugged it out when I quickly noticed it. (My gave saved files are locked though).
Remember to BACK-UP your files! And always have a proper AV software installed!

Thanks for the heads up, but did you really open up an "invoice" microsoft word attachment from an unknown source?
>>2453296
how did you catch it? that's pretty scary senpai
If you're smart then this notice will not apply to you because you will be smart and not retarded
Can anyone tell me what the literal English translation for the word 'asgardsreien' mean? Does it just mean the wild hunt?
"Ride of Asgard"
>>2453262
this. and since OP seems to not know about Asgard: It's the one of the Nine Worlds in Norse mythology, and is home to the Æsir (which, along with the Vanir, comprise the two Norse pantheons). Odin and Thor are Æsir.
>>2453262
Would asgardsrei effectively mean the same thing without the last 'en'?
What's the least clumsy way to add colors to sketches you do outdoors? I'm thinking of bringing watercolor pencils and a Pentel Aqua Brush, but the thought of digging through all those pencils to get the color I want drives me up the wall.
A water brush and a little (altoids) tin or pouch with some (half) pans or dried dabs of paint from a tube seems to be working for people.
Limiting your palette down to a maximum of two colors
For some information on materials for urban sketching, you can also read The Art of Urban Sketching by Gabriel Campanario.
If you want to see what the last art movement looks like and world peace and all that whatever do a painting like this.
Get a canvas and an easel and do a painting outside or inside or whatever where you place the canvas in front of you so it blocks out what is behind in. Then you fill in with paint what you think goes there based on your memory of what was there before.
Magritte more or less discovered this so he deserves some credit but he never actually did the painting specifically he just made surrealist art ABOUT this kind of painting.
>>2452985
I haven't actually tried it cause I can't realize this stuff twice but I think in theory you could do a digital painting and get the same effect or at least simulate it.
Try finding an image, then lasso tool the middle and delete it, and digitally paint what you remember of what was there.
I'm not sure how effective that would be so if you have access to the materials to do it traditionally I'd recommend that.
>>2452985
I'm not sure that story is right. Pretty sure someone suggested that as an exercise and then he did that to fuck around with them because it's stupid
>>2452989
Main goal of this is to realize memory is the point of life. The afterlife is your memories backwards. Any good memories become bad memories. To make the afterlife more enjoyable you need to live a boring life ( I hesitate to use the word sad so let's go with boring).
In order to bring this to a mass market we need to make games for virtual reality that can simulate making this type of painting, and have people make these types of paintings who don't have access to the materials necessary to do one ( think Africa, Asia, anywhere that isn't europe or the US). Imagine a product that makes men understand life and death that you only need to spend 2 hours with, then you can invite other people to use it and they learn it too and then it spreads like wildfire.
But first we need to start small. So please help.
FANART BY THE ITS ME ;)

So this is why my shit comes out looking muddy.
Which cartoonist/animator/comic book artist/mangaka draws the best women in your opinion? Especially the face. You can pick one artist for women's faces and one for women's bodies.
Face: Phil Noto
Body: Takeshi Koike
>>2450721
Noto? Really? All his women look like obnoxious cunts and they have the same face with an extremely limited set of expressions.
>>2450726
post your work

but that was his opinion?
Ive been finding timelapsed art videos really useful lately, learning alot from them and they are usually pretty inspiring for when you are in a rut. Anyone else got any?

Are there any programs or forums out there that can force me to draw in a productive way?
I wasted my money on Watts Atelier only to find out it takes fucking forever for them to grade assignments and the forum is no help.
If you need someone else to motivate you then you'll never gonna make it.
>>2452749
"I should read Loomis so I can get this assignment done the best I can" is a lot better than "I should read Loomis until I hopefully can draw good"

>he fell for the watts atelier meme
