I've been saving up 2k bucks to buy myself a wacom cintiq 22hd touch tablet, is it worth?
I like to make drawings like the pic and I wanna know more about digital drawing
How long did it take to save up 2k?
What else are you looking to purchase?
Do you draw digitally often? Or is this your first tablet?
>>2446874
I saved up for 2 months at my job and I only want to get the tablet and a program to let me draw, it'll be my first tablet and I am an amateur DIGITAL artist, but I have lots of years drawing on paper with shading so I'm not a complete dunce
>>2446876
Okay but have you ever painted before
none of my art comes from my head
everything is just me procedurally smashing things together and just letting my hand do whatever it wants as thoughtlessly as if im drawing a merc_wip
it works for the most part
but no matter how interesting it is
it doesnt feel like mine
like I can be like
"im going to draw this"
but it isnt me drawing it
its me figuring out what it actually is
>>2446806
I do that too but not all the time
Like I use it as a technique to come up with more "subconscious" ideas that I would come up with normally. Me when drawing subconsciously: bizarre, surreal things that I can't always even explain what they are - me when drawing consciously: naked girls with guns
>>2446806
I think everyone does this. If you actually could conceive a crisp image in your head, and put it on paper exactly as you envisioned it, you'd lose the drive after 10 minutes. After all, it would just be physical labour.
The joy of drawing and painting is exactly because you keep figuring 'it' out and extrapolating from what's on the paper to create something beautiful.
>>2446824
I have some mental imagery but its painfully frustrating how lacking it is
like ill have a girl in my mind
she has an dark yale blue legion cap and a carrot orange raincoat over a dark blue and brown baja
I can imagine what she does and how she would smile and all the colors perfectly
but a single line of structure is completely lost to me
Anyone else use the Uniball Air? It's a relatively new roller ball pen that lets you vary your line width and makes quite wide lines that look like they were made by a felt tip pen because so much ink comes but there's no nib to wear out.
Any other oddball cheap pens out there? I like the Uniball Jetstream but it's pretty run of the mill in terms of creating line. Also the ink in the Uniballs is waterproof and high quality. I've heard the Pentel Rolling writer is interesting but hard to find.
>>2446366
Spot the uniball marketer
>>2446379
No, I'm just convinced this great new product will be revolutionary to the market. Since the first day I used my new Uniball Air, I didn't need any other pens. I've recommended the Uniball Air to my whole all-American family. They too fell in love with this product.
>>2446385
Me too friend ! Ever since I started using the Uniball Airâ„¢ my inking has dramatically improved, my grandmas cancer has healed and I have a harem of women at my disposal every night.
What keeps us from drawing every second of every available hour to become the best?

the urge to make shit threads like this one
Work.
Eating.
Other leisure activities.
Shitposting on /ic/.
You'd probably get sick of it drawing that much.
You'd probably get repetitive strain or carpal tunnel.
You're making threads like this so you don't have the spark anyway.
>get urge to draw things you like
>realize you're shit
>get urge to practice
>ok that's enough
rinse and repeat
/humblebrag
anyways just got into anime like a month ago, never thought I would become a weeb but here I am. Getting started with manga drawing. What do you guys think?
>>2438892
It's pretty decent and I'd say close if not far better than nosebros art.
>>2438892
The neck is too long, among other features.
Keep studying the human body proportions. Search the beginner thread. They may give you a more useful critique there.

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?
>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].
What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

this link directs you to see the past submissions of artist without being part of the challenge. sort of like a "passive viewer mode" at a zoo where all the animals are actually genetic abominations.

wow guys so many weeks! you're doing really great! i believe it and so should you.
I can't draw or paint. Its like I see every mistake I made in the process and it always looks like garbage. I hate my stupid hands....

Whose grandma is this on 4chan?

its interesting that in homage to a past artist they treat hundreds of current artists like worthless cogs
>>2446319
nobody cares
>>2446319
i thought about this approach to animation before, it has its own fair of short comings but that aside i feel that allot of this was rotoscoped, is this true?
>>2446319
super neat
can't wait to see it in 215 years
ITT we study other Artists that successfully stylize a figure and correctly "break the rules".
Use everything you've learned to draw the figure in your own interpretation, do not copy it like a xerox machine instead get the idea behind the figure and retell it in your own way.
Something tricky to start off, using anatomy and keeping it simple without being too jarring.
>>2437842
I'm all for studying other artists and learning how they stylize anatomy, exaggerate the rhythm of the body etc, but that is a really badly drawn figure with a completely fucked up torso and it's not because of intentional stylization.
>>2437854
the only innacuracy is that the shoulders are too narrow
>>2437854
The idea here is to understand the how and the why, use your own interpretation on what the Artist was trying to convey like I said you don't have to draw it exactly the way it is.
post your paintings, wips, ideas, etc. if it is oil, acrylic, watercolor or whatever else. so long as there is paint on a surface. share, critique, etc
this is the most nothing painting I've seen in quite some time.
I bet you go to an art school, don't you
>>2389084
Don't be a dick. But you may like to mix some colors, especially for the sky.
To show you I am a hypocrite here is my painting (acrilic on cardboard) w/ a mono cramatic sky. I already posted it but I like to support traditional art threads .
>>2389084
nah i'm a law student and to manage the stress i've been teaching myself to paint in my (limited) spare time, for about 8ish months now
>>2389084
thanks, in my mind there was going to be more covering up the sky but all the trees were dead near me (thanks, winter) so i just kinda went with it.
My sister gave me this as a present. Have any of you guys used it? Is it any good.
>>2440701
Well, just going by the fact that the illustration on the cover doesn't look like manga at all, it's probably not that great. I really recommend the "How to Draw Manga" series by Tatsuhiro Ozaki (you can find a big ass torrent for it on TPB) if you're into that sort of thing. The series is old but not dated in the slightest, and even covers some good fundamental things to know as an artist in general.
>>2440722
Almost looks like akabur's artwo...OMG!
>>2440722
can't find it senpai
So when you guys are drawing for 8 hours a day, what are you actually drawing? Are you studying and aiming to improve, or just doodling?
i spend my entire day procrastination and telling myself that i'll start doing work tomorrow
>>2445631
I once spent about 1-2 months not drawing a single thing, just looking at alot of tutorials online.
mfw i actually improved significantly
>>2445639
this.
Watching youtube tutorials, listening to podcasts, looking at art actually does help. Shockingly.
Could this possibly be anymore uninspired and SHIT?
If Maciej ever had it, he's certainly lost it now. Is this dull lifeless shit what you really want to do?
>>2440772
Maciej made it, so it must be good. Maciej the incredibly skilled high profile concept artist.
>>2440772
Pretty cool shot actually if this is a concept art piece to establish the mood and scale of a scene in a movie. Would work really nice as a slowly upward panning shot. If this is a marketing illustration, it's got too many photo elements for my taste.
It reminds me of that sphinx scene from the neverending story
Any childhood stories you'd like to share /ic/?
I had an artbook and sketchbook hidden under my bed in middle school and I'd practice drawing breasts for hours a day. My mom found them and threw them away and grounded me for 3 weeks.
>>2434105
>My mom found them and threw them away and grounded me for 3 weeks.
You're a girl aren't ya?
>>2434105
I used to buy a lot of those how to draw tutorial books back when I was in elementary school from the book fairs. One day I bought a how to draw fantasy characters book that had this really cool, buff warrior dude on the front, so naturally, I bought it. I mostly drew ripped superhero type characters back then(and lots of dbz shit.) but when I was going through the book on the school bus I noticed that the book had a tutorial on how to draw this hot pixie chick, she looked kinda cool so I decided to draw her. When I started drawing her I felt a weird sensation in between my legs, it was my baby boner sprouting for the first time. Idk what it was but looking back, it feels weird knowing that my shitty grade school drawing was the first thing to give me a boner.
