ITT: shit that is just too fucking good
>dat water
Do artist's styles also suffer from flanderization over time?
It's called 'developing a style' and it's the hope and dream of every shit-tier tartlet and tumblrina.
>>2445817
Only if they let it consume them and forgot about reality.
Although, it can also happen that they for one reason or another starts pandering (could be pressure in some way), that they might do it intentionally.
Have you guys ever known or personally dealt with an artist who has gotten work in the past (and is semi-popular) but ultimately is mediocre/sucks?
This person I know got a great gig awhile ago but now their art is constantly rejected when they apply to jobs because they stuck to 'muh style' instead of learning fundamentals. Part of me just wants to not tell them to improve, get really fucking good and then get a job and/or become popular myself and show them up. The other part feels like I should tell them but I feel like if I do it'll just end badly. Honestly it always pisses me off when I see a mediocre artist do well but in this case I have known the person for quite some time and they're in a bad spot. What would you do?

2013 to 2014 is straigh improvement, what are you talking about?
Why would you make the robot fat? The robot is a robot. She can be as thin as she actually is in the show and it's still realistic. She doesn't have organs. Fuck this shit.
>thought I was talented
>thought I could draw
>realize I am not, and cannot
>realize how I placed too much value in the compliments I got from my peers
>wonder if I might be slightly retarded for not noticing this until now
>my fucking face when
Please tell me I'm not alone and this is just one of the rites of passages into gitgud
>>2446188
NO TALENT
JUST HARD WORK
>>2446188
Yes I think its safe to assume that most of us went though that. Now get paper and pencil and get to drawing.
>>2446188
Just stay determined OP,
this is my progress, never give up!
How do I "import" another artists's style features into mine? Just copy?
Mediocre artists borrow. Great artists steal.
>>2444144
I'm using the word artist here but I'm really just a guy who draws for a hobby
>>2444146
Trace until it becomes natural.
This is the best advice for copying a style wether you're an amateur who doesn't know shit or you're Loomis himself. Having a solid grasp of anatomy is not enough, you need to understand the artist's design process and adapt your hand to his construction method. Fastest way to do this? Trace.
What do you think about her and her work?
>>2439942
idk who she is
>>2439942
Her husband was the one with the talent.
She is only recognized for being a woman.
>Ugly unibrow woman with shitty art
Oh wait, she's a feminist icon that was above patriarchal bigoted beauty and hygiene standards.
Post some doodles you have hanging around. I'm a chronic doodler and love doing quick sketches, mostly for fun.
I would, but I close without saving if I'm just doodling.
>>2450522
Aw poop. I'm almost exclusively doodles, I have trouble committing to a final pic. I only save em if I like em though.
To begin a legit studio career, I need a degree for a work visa. Sitting in my chair earlier today, and witnessing yet another fight between my parents, and I'm just sick of it. Don't know if I can stand several more years of that while I work on the degree.
Should I just go for a comfy freelance career? I think I'm just going to learn some programming and get a job that can support me living in an apartment, and then work on my art to git gud for freelance work.
Working for Wizards of the Coast, Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Applibot etc. Sounds really comfy and rewarding too, they pay pretty decently.
Should I just stop giving a shit about some studio career in California?
>Working for Wizards of the Coast, Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Applibot etc.
protip your almost certainly not going to work for these guys starting out, you'll most likely start at 100$ jobs for 16 hours + illustrations .
>Should I just go for a comfy freelance career?
there is no such thing , unless your just super talented or have great connections your going to really struggle for those first jobs and there going to be shit.
I noticed you used the words comfy twice, you seem entitled as shit .Your going to learn you can't just walk into an art career and just grab all the jobs you want like it's a buffet.
I can't imagine someone with your attitude is even going to get good enough to get any kind of job.
If your a troll though good job got me to reply.
>>2450489
you seem really thin skinned and angry as fuck
don't ever talk to me or my thread ever again
>>2450494
You seem like an entitled douche and need to put into place, you can't stop me or anyone else posting in your thread
Is art school necessary for getting a career in art, such as working under a big name studio for example?
Do you feel like you've gained a lot from art school, or are you just there for the degree?
Can't you just learn things taught in art school from online, books, and experience?
Discuss.
no, art school is generally a shitfest, go under schooling of some master, help him and learn from him.
>>2449928
>art school degrees
Lol op it is all about the portfolio
Everyone's going to be really quick to shit on art schools for x y and z reasons and they're all probably right to some degree. I'm a freshman in university RN and can confirm all of the ugly rumors are true etc etc
Here's the problem though: all art school can do is provide you with opportunities to sit down and work. The sitting down and the working is entirely of your own volition though. You see so many entitled shits leave school with no talent because they didn't work for it. Regardless of whether you're at a SUNY school or FZD all the work is still on you.
Art schools are great for minimizing the requirements youd otherwise have in life while training yourself: food, shelter, private space but most importantly DEADLINES. Deadlines are utterly invaluable to people who can't bring themselves to get shit done on work ethic alone, nobody pops out of highschool with an impeccable ethic that's bullshit.
So weigh the pros and cons OP. If you have your basic needs attended to and an unbreakable work ethic, yeah you should probably stay at home or go to a general state school. Art school is definitely bullshit and not for everything but you'd be a fucking idiot to say it doesn't have its limited merits. Judge yourself and act accordingly.
Hey, what are those 2 women below jesus called?
I want to draw them but I cant find a photo with better details, are they nuns or smething else>
thanks
I don't know this particular painting well but this is a type of Christian art called 'Stabat Mater'. The one on the lest wearing a blue mentle is usually Mary (Jesus' mom) and the one on the right wearing red must be John the Apostle (one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus who is a MAN).
>>2449436
I take back "type". I meant a theme or scene.
>>2449419
That's Mary and Mary Magdalene you dofus. Learn some art history.
Lets some some terrible tattoo pictures
All tattoos are worst tattoos. Shit thread.
This artist called 'Pegasplus' had not much luck during his 8 years career, he sold only one painting. one painting in 8 YEARS. he had no job, only tried to become an Artist.
crazy ass.
well, I really like that paint
>>2443607
How delusional are you? Thats a terrible painting and if he got that far after 8+ years he's either mentally challenged or he paints once a year, both of which explains why he's unsuccessful.
You're worse than people who believe in talent.
it's hard to judge an artist based on one painting, I think this one is very nice, except for that yellow on top of the waves, it really really bothers me.
