That soccer mom payed $750 for that flea market painting with the pinkified corner. I don't really think it's about the ideas and creativity, but just about the sheer amount of followers and fame he has and people willing to waste money just to have something to talk/brag about. Can't really hate on him, it's a good business idea.
What does /ic/ think about tracing?
>>2461214
bumping because i really want to know 'cause I trace a lot and maybe that's a major offense to visual art so and so
It's okay if you don't hide it (like you're consciously cheating), but it shouldn't be an end in itself. You might want to do it for a better study of the contour (everybody learns differently) or maybe for modifying the form and creating something entirely new (a fantasy cat maybe).
>>2461222
but what if it's out of laziness? i don't deny tracing though. I just like skipping to the coloring/details part because it way more fun
Alright guys, I realise this might be a bit of a long shot, but I really want to find this one drawing and I need your help.
Basically, to describe it as close as I can, it was a pencil sketch in which the artist drew his living room.
The trick to this piece was that he had drawn it as from a first person perspective, as if inside his skull, behind his actual eyeball. What this means, is that around the right edge of the drawing he had left his nose, as he could see it every day, and his brow to the upper edge of the sketch.
Then he continued to sketch out his torso, arms and legs, as he was laying on a couch in the middle of the living room, but they were also drawn as if from a 1st person perspective.
If it helps, I believe the artist that made the sketch was German in the 19th century, but I could be completely wrong about that one.
It was a really cool idea, and now I can't find it anymore...

Nevermind, found it myself.
Self portrait by Ernst Mach.
Just thought it was a really interesting idea.

That's fucked up. I love it.

guys, i need help. i've got this friend in cegep who's taking art courses. i always thought he was good but a couple of months ago i came here and realized that he's literal fucking ass.
he symbol draws all his eyes, and when he's not symbol drawing he chicken scratches the fuck out of everything
he never tries to push himself and constantly uploads "sketches" (which are chicken scratched pieces of fuck) to facebook, deviantart, twitter, etc.
don't even get me started on the photography. oooh, and the paintings. holy fucking shit you guys. holy. shit.
i won't upload pics for fear that someone might track him down and hurt his feelings. how do i tell him that he's shit town 3000 without hurting his feelings? i want him to get better. i wanna see him progress. he hasn't progressed since i first met him. needless to say pic not related, i won't post his stuff.
thanks for taking the time to read this. also ig just delusional artist thread?
OP again i forgot to mention it but also he signs every fucking thing he makes, even if it's totally unfinished.
post your work or you're just jealous of his audience.
What do people think of markcrilly's art? or any other 'youtuber anime tutorial ' kind of art
Mark Crilley has always been our lord and savior. He's the best
Mark's good but his anime style is outdated
I see no real issues with his art, but nothing spectacular either. He's perfectly fine.
Russians are the most exponent in art of all time.
Prove me i'm wrong.

Do any of you drink while drawing?
Over the years I've picked up a habit of always having a glass of single-malt on my desk whenever I work. It helps me cope with boredom and being alone in front of my monitor all day and I dare say It helps me be more creative and decisive. I enjoy the habit and the few advantages, that come with it, but I also realize my work might suffer a little and yet I have no intention to stop. As Churchill said: "I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me." I wonder if I'm alone with this.
>>2454152
drinking is a disgusting vice for weak people
I'm interested in the subject aswell. I smoke joints and paint in photoshop. Usually I get the same advantages like you in the OP described..
>>2454162
sorry i already have enough addiction issues, i am wary of starting new ones. they are hard as fuck to over come.

anyone here actually receive a BFA or MFA in art or is this place just shit? cause it seems like shit.
>>2458790
I actually really like the picture desu. Has a bit of humor, the photography was well done, and it conveys a meaning.
I have a BFA in 2D animation. But you're probably looking for a fine arts degree.
Is it possible to maintain a balance of a anime and realistic artstyle that overlap with each other in positive ways
