Do you guys know any sites that just have pictures of random people doing whatever.
I'm a bit sick of drawing professional art models & people at /soc/ n I don't want to go outside ;_;
like random shots of people at festivals
I'm having a difficult time finding pictures like these for some reason.

How rare is drawing in real life? I was drawing downtown in my metro area of about 3 million and a business guy in a suit comes up and asks what I'm doing says that's awesome, then writes his number down on the back of a receipt and tells me to call him after 10.

Do most people know someone who is pursuing fine arts (not crafts or pinterest shit) or is it actually really something most people have no experience with?

He obviously understands color, light, and values.

The only thing I can really see that's wrong with op image is that maybe her left deltoid could be more distinguished and her right deltoid pushed a bit farther out; to avoid nitpicking of course. This isn't anatomically broken, its just a bit of an awkward pose.

>How can you even make out the anatomy in the self portrait?

Anatomy is good enough and values and colours (ergo - what really matters) are just noice. Look at dem folds.

Hello there!

Here's a colleague of some of my former tutors, and probably the most well-known artist I've talked to in real life. After just starting lurking this board a few weeks ago, I'm guessing of all the artists who's names I've memorised, through my 14 years as a painter, Jonathan Wateridge might be the one closest to the general taste of /ic/.

What baffles me about this board, is the fact that literally none of the names that has been brought up, are known in the 'real' art world. Complementary to this, there seem to be a consensus that art school and contemporary art is worthless to you lot. Does /ic/ even research the diverse plethora of 21st century art?

Watch the video, tell me what you think, and name some other artists that one likely could come across in the stables of internationally acclaimed galleries.

The thing about /ic/ is that we draw ourselves, we aren't here to look at other artists.

The artists you see us talking about are the ones whose techniques we care about, because that will actually help us with our own stuff.

All income is taxable, just list it as "Other income" when you file your taxes next year. Look up your local taxes. If you live in NYC for instance, you'll have to pay both state and city sales tax. However if it's all in cash and your art sales aren't a regular thing, you might consider it an under the table sort of thing.

There are loads of invoice templates online, just use google.

Since this is a sizeable amount of money, you may want to consider having them put down a deposit and sign a contract that basically says if you don't fulfill your end, the deposit is refunded, if he tries to back out before you finish you keep the deposit, and if you complete the work, he is legally obliged to pay you. There are some freelancer contract templates out there too, just do your research.

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?

>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].

What do we draw?

>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.

What's a low effort warning?

>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.

>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.

What happens if I'm eliminated?

>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.

How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?

>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.

Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?

>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

Hey guys, any of you has had experience in the game/animation/movie industry as an artist? Or even as a freelance artist?
I still have 2-3 years until I finish high school, but I'm very concerned about what it takes to have a future career in those fields.
-Could you name 10 pros and cons on working in those industries?
-What qualifications are suited for them?
- How do you see the industry in 10 years?how about 20 years?

Thanks so much in advance, and I am aware that this post might be more suited to the advice board that this board, but i really hope that the right people will see it easier here, since this is an art related board. :)

p.s: pic is related, it's a drawing i did a while ago

Go to maps.google.com right now, search the term "atelier" and see if there's one near you and consider taking a few basic classes. It's about what you can do moreso than where you went to school, and to that end there's no sense in not getting the jump on your formal education; with the right teacher you could get good enough to get a substantial markdown on tuition if you do end up deciding to go to a college.

>Is a brush pen usable for daily writing?
No.

Try Ames' Guide to Self-Instruction or Rosemary Sassoon's Improve Your Handwriting. Do the exercises and practice the letter forms until you're comfortable with your consistency, but more importantly just write a lot and be conscious of /how/ you're writing. Aim for consistency, mind your mistakes and take the time to correct them; if you notice you're getting a certain letter different all the time go back and practice it. If you don't have anything to write just take more notes as you study / read books / etc. Write down important passages or song lyrics or whatever the fuck you're into, copy those over a few times, buy a new pen to encourage yourself to write more often, etc.
