Didn't see a WIP thread, so I'll put them here. I work primarily in 3D (salary and errything) but I like to do some design work. Hopefully some day I'll combine the two effectively.

I've been searching for almost an hour now how to do this in Photoshop...

I want to cut a picture into equal pieces and shuffle each piece around. Randomly. Kind of like a puzzle.

Even better would be if I could fill in a texture grid with random pieces of a picture I have.

For instance, I have this pattern, pic related and I want all the white spaces in it filled up by random parts of another picture I have.

How?

Weird, possibly complicated question: do any of you guys have an interest in, and would you be able to point me to examples of effective use of the uncanny, macabre,Gothic, and otherworldly in graphic design?

I'd like to see how successful designers have conveyed this type of uneasiness using the formal elements of design, as well as have some ideas about how to work around the subject matter itself while maintaining the proper tone. I'd like to see examples of this that maintain clarity without coming off as too clean or commercial.

Distressed finishes, dark and horror-style subject matter, an element of insanity, fervor or dread in technically successful work is what I'm looking for for inspiration.

Between these two logos, what is the one you like more?
Is it for a "school project" website that will be online soon and this is the main logo in the first page.
One has been made by me and the other by another guy.
My classroom already choose which one will be used but I would like to know your opinion too.

Anybody have and resources or inspo for tri-fold poster design?

I'm working on a poster for an engineering course. It seems as if, in the STEM world, all presentation posters use ugly gradients and boring fonts (pic related). I understand the need to keep presented data sterile and unambiguous, but there must be a more visually-appealing way.
