Plenty of work, but the result is nice.

That's pretty cool.

Spooky/10 ;)
I have an interview for my uni application in 4 days. What should I prepare for? And there's an exchange program to the UK for 2 months. I have a fear of flying and surviving in another country. Should I mention those?
bumpp, it's in 2 days now
I'm sure the exchange program isn't compulsory, it's likely to be an option you can take in second year. You can stay on there for the second semester, or you transfer to another country as part of the erasmus scheme. If it is, be thankful. The UK has some great design courses, I'm on one. Besides, statically speaking you're more likely to die going to the corner shop than on an aircraft.
>>269175
Are you on an exchange program too? How many people per room is it? And I'm trying not to opt out of it if possible. Like I'm scared as fuck but I don't want to keep running etc
Hello /gd/ first time posting here as /g/ recommended you guys.
I'm a former graphic designer gone programmer (mostly embedded electronics) and I would like to create a personal website to log my work, share a little about myself, and put things that shouldn't clutter up my resume.
I'm decent with software development but I was wondering if any of you could lend any design inspiration for personal websites. I would probably go with darker tones, and very minimal yet functional.
Check out wordpress themes focused on personal portfolios, maybe even themes designed for agencies. There are so many bloggers nowadays that you'll likely find at least 10 'best 50 portfolio themes' rankings in a minute. Great for inspiration.
Are you planning on developing the website yourself?
>>268921
yes although I'm not sure how I feel about using wordpress.
I know some jobs demand wp experience, and its probably really useful - but I was going to build my backend from scratch for this. In either case I could still take inspiration from some wp themes however.
I am building everything myself. I have been learning full stack development for more advanced projects than this but I have yet to establish my online presence in the form of a portfolio. I feel its best to stop and do that before continuing further with my other projects, so at least I can document it going forward.
>>268923
Well, a big advantage of wordpress is how easy it is to add content. You're limited to what the theme creator designed (although with some freedom) but for something as simple as a personal portfolio I would highly recommend it. Mobile ready, plugin friendly, dynamic, ease of use, these themes were designed precisely for people like you.
Showing your skill in developing websites yourself would be more interesting for highly specific requests. No client will pay you to code something thousands of people have done before you.
would anyone be able to tell me what font this is on this shirt or something similar?
I want to go ahead and remake this shirt on zazzle or something but first i gotta figure out the font for this
>>268897
maybe even the origins of the shirt would help?
>>268897
please?
my graphics design final piece
what do you think?
hey thats pretty good!
why'd you make the G so unevenly placed
>>268816
this. work on the FIG HT. and bump the green vibrance a bit but not the yellow background. also since it's a zombie a little of paper texture or water damage could make it look better.
is this beyond saving ?
what i did wrong ? i just startedt to learn shop
photoshop file : http://www113.zippyshare.com/v/8bQf0qlT/file.html
This turned out alright so i just wanted to do something simile
hOW DID YOU GET THE LIGHTIN THRU THE aROUND BUILDINGS/
>>268807
My 2 cents:
Are the red squiggle lights coming from the character? If so, make them larger the closer they are to the character. Right now it looks like it's coming from further back in the city. The Character looks very out of place and rigid, and the blurring of it doesn't suggest movement to me.
Also I looked at the top left corner first because it has the most contrast and I doubt that that is what you wanted the focal point to be.
Does anyone have a collection of fonts that are free to use commercially.
I plan on selling beer accessories on Etsy and don't want to use any fonts that will get me in trouble.
I have over 80k fonts but I'm not sure which are free to use.
I was wondering if there is a resource/zip file that has fonts that people can use commercially.
did you try dafont.com? you can filter by license if you go for advanced search. as far as I can remember there's shareware, free, free for commercial use, public domain/gpl, check it out
>>268610
Yes I've been there many time, I can''t seem to see how to do an advanced search though.
>>268611
i made this chart few weeks back
here's the fonts for personal and commercial use. although i think it's missing mozilla's Fira.

Heyy, i need to do a fox logo, just wanted to ask what are the problems with this one, what should be added/removed
>>268575
>what should be added/removed
first there's too much triangles going on. the ears should be smaller, the perspectve s mess up. the mouth shold be smaller. don't add shadows until you have the basic shape. also the stroke makes it look generic. try researchng for a fox in that pose and use it as reference.
>>268582
thank you
>>268583
I'm feeling this fox thugger!
Tweak it's right ear- looks like it's fused to the back of the head instead of the top
Thin the mouth so it looks slightly opened
Move the jaw shadow towards the right a bit- rn it looks like the jaw goes through the neck, but it does shows the presence of its snout so you figure that out
And just angle the right eye better
I really like it. Simple geometry looks nice as a more distinguished+slight vague object
I just got back from my exit portfolio review
The guys who reviewed my work said I should have majored in something else and all my work fucking sucks
How should I kill myself, not sure if joking or not , Im seriously considering it

let us see it

this before you kill yourself
This is a little class project I'm working on.
I'm struggling with the placement of the text beneath the title. I prefer the overall composition of the left one, but the text doesn't fit within the light beam so I moved things around on the right side.
General criticism also welcome.
I think the font doesn't go very well with everything. Maybe you should try a different font (a bolder, simpler one that stands tall and doesn't bend to the side), and use a different shade of red (if you really want to use red) for the "ABOVE" text. The two fonts are good on their own, but they don't go well together, try to balance them out with other fonts.
Also - why is the random light beam that's coming from the city directed at the UFO? Shouldn't the UFO be doing that? And if the beam really must be coming from the city at the UFO, shouldn't the spaceship have a bolder shadow-light contrast?
Other than that, I think the colors are pretty nice and that you have a good idea in your head, it just needs a little improvement in my opinion. Move the title and the text around a bit, try some new options, i suggest you move the text to the bottom right corner, but I might easily be wrong.
Keep working on it, it's good work!
make the spotlight one color (that yellow color)
put the words on top, black on white, as if they are snipplets from a document
use a typewriter / slab font
you're welcome
Can you check out my wordpress site ive uploaded some of my work.
How about /gd/ post album covers that you guys have done from invented/imaginary bands? (not just the wiki-random thing)
I'll start.
>>268106
rate this, please
So, I'm switching from Photoshop to GIMP because freedom and I was wondering if /gd/ has helpful pasta/guides? Please point me into the right direction.
>>267778
Yeah, go back to photoshop.
>>267778

>>267779
This.
It's $20 (or $50 for everything) a month OP. So cut down on your bitch coffee and energy drinks budget and just get CC.
I'm pretty sure my family/facebook friends think i have autism or something though.
>>267729
You probably do have autism.
you 100% have autism you fuckin fag
>>267729
I like the yellow - blue colors not usually used in this style, they really clash with the bulma and the plants. Also, the polo logo at the sides. But it lacks glow, its dense and gray, and the statue heads are too safe and cliché, maybe good for a first plane, but simple for a background. Playstation, dreamcast, pokemon and anime? The fact that your art revolves around all of those is the only reason I think you are autistic.
In the end, it´s all about mix and matching what shoudn't be, but the overall feeling must be good. Must feel beautiful. This, in my opinion, lacks that beauty.
>sun
>casts a shadow
>>267148
I hear suns don't have those little yellow rays circling them either, or are 48x48.
It's a drawing, it's not based in reality.
>>267150
>suns don't have those little yellow rays circling them either
You mean sunlight? Quite being an asshole. It's based on the sun and the sun is real and it casts no shadow.
>>267153
Oh yeah, I can see how that photo looks exactly like OP's little logo, apart from the shadow they look exactly the same. Quit being a pedantic faggot.
ITT, design work you would frame/hang in your home/office.
I'll start with Tadanori Yokoo
Getting the obvious Saul Bass out of the way
