Why do people measure the amount of energy a battery holds in mAh and not Wh? What's the point of talking about the charge, when the actual energy still depends on the voltage?
>pic unrelated
Why do people measure energy in mAh instead of Joules?
mAh gives a bigger number which sells more batteries, most people don't know wtf mAh, Wh or even Joules are, they only want big numbers.
Same reason people use cm/in to measure the lengths of your dick instead of kilometers and miles.
You don't see people saying "my penis is 6.313×10^-5 miles long" or "my penis is 1.016×10^-4 km long"
Just built my first gaming rig. Is 70-80c with fans at 60% reasonable for a GTX 950 while gaming?
What temps should I start worrying about it at?
>>55769544
Should prob. go in stupid questions thread. But if you are at 80c already, the fans should be at 100%. Just because it doesn't shut down at that temp doesn't mean it's good for it.
Just saw this thing coming out soon, it is a computer called superbook which is powered by your phone. All it supplies is keyboard, monitor and a Batterie. It even has its own os to make it work with all android devices.
Do you think this is worth looking into? Even with phones nowadays would it be powerful enough to use this as you normal laptop for at home? My phone has 3gigs of ram, about as much as my old laptop which already is a few years old, is that comparable? Or are they just trying to shill for a fancy monitor
Haha no
Does your phone have Ubuntu or convergence enabled? Because you'll just have a big screen android lmao

/g/ I'm interested in starting to teach myself to code.
I know there are a lot of programming languages out there, but which one is recommended for a beginner?
First of all, don't waste time deciding what programming language you choose first. The concepts will carry over to other languages if you want to switch later. I'd recommend Python, Lua, or C. Pick one and just get started ASAP.
>>55769238, Python for sure, then C then whatever.
Also, that anime character is editing audio or viewing the stock market.
>>55769238
can confirm don't think just go DON'T WASTE TIME OPEN NOTEPAD RIGHT NOW GO GO GO GET YOUR HANDS MOVING PROGRAM LIKE YOUR VIRGINITY DEPENDS ON IT GO

How do you pronounce Arch?
"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Arch.
>>55769139
"Success".
Hey /g/, a friend of mine recently lost his phone. You had to type in a few numbers if you wanted to access the mode (no idea what this is called, front screen lock?). It was a windows phone. Now, someone has her phone and sometimes logs on Whatsapp etc. Doesn't respond to calls or messages or whatever so it's obviously not a friend of hers. He receives all messages sent via Whatsapp pretty much always so he has a stable internet connection.
Is there any way to tell where her phone is or who has it?
Yes, there is.
>>55769091
T-tell me, senpai.
Can you even selfbump on /g/?
What do you use cron for?
I don't even have cronie installed. I have no need for it.
>>55768979
Scheduling tasks maybe?
Thoughts on those in the market right now. 1070 better bang for your buck than a 1080?
GTX 80s always end up in a weird spot cuz they're mid-high priced and always get made obsolete by the tier above them. 1080ti/1090 not coming out soon, but you know it will eventually.
I'd get 1070 and maybe upgrade later if you want. Wouldn't pay 600+ for 1080 when the next release will prolly just be slightly more expensive.

EVGA ACX 3.0 is an amazing cooler. Quiet as fuck and keeps card cool. So much better than their 2.0 coolers.
I just got a 1070 FTW.
+110 on clocks
+250 memory
+20% volt
Stock aggressive fan profile that I couldn't hear.
Never got above 59C under load.
Ima play around with it more to see what all I can get stable
My 780ti died recently and I finally got pics - didn't see a pc rekt or gore thread so here's a new one.
Anyone think it's possible to fix this?

>throwing away a GPU because of a burned mosfet and cap
Fucking shitty millennial holy shitnuggets.
Got a refurb screen from amazon 'cause mine is cracked. Installed everything in the new screen because that's how nexus rolls.
New screen displays fine but touchscreen worketh not. Put cracked screen back and it works. Fuckin waste of an hour and a half.
Should I try the new screen again or just return it and try another one? Did I fuck up or is the new screen just shitty?
plz halp
touch da fishy?

What's your opinion about windows phones? I actually have a lumia 650, phone is not too bad, but the os is fucking awful, lack of apps is the biggest issue, also 10 mobile have plenty of bugs and apps are generally bad, even skype works like shit.
girl I know has one
Terrible UI
No apps
jesus christ what is happening to the keyboard
slow as fuck
throw it in a dumpster and file an insurance claim
I had a lumia 925 on wp8, loved the phone itself, hated the os, extremely buggy software, lack of apps etc
Well optimized at least. Runs well on about anything
What does /g/ buy?
the ones ur mum use
Whatever reputable brand is on sale when I'm running short. Average Middle sounds about right.
>>55768735
anything
I think I've got like three devices that need replaceable batteries (at least, things that don't use watch batteries), and I haven't used any of them particularly recently.
I recently bought an Apple TV (3rd gen) for set top box purposes. It's working very well, but I'd like to mirror my laptop to the aTV. Is there any free (as in beer) way to do this with a Windows 7 computer?
I know I can use iTunes to play media over network, but I doubt it can play .mkv anime
AirParrot
Convert the mkv to an mp4
Why is no one talking about this?
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-radeon-ssg-1tb-gpu-memory,32325.html
Also general professional gpu / content creation thread I guess
We tried, can't start discussion because it wasn't made by Nvidia.
Lets try again in 2 years.
>load immense work files into the GPU one time
>it can then access them instantly from that point on
>enormous videos can be edited in real time
>tremendous 3D cad files opened in seconds
Pretty goddamn big for a lot of people. It'll be impressive to see how 36CU Polaris 10 fairs in DP throughput unrestrained.
>>55768607
Pretty impressive desu
