Career advice needed /g/

Bachelor in Computer Information Systems. Long term goal is Cyber/Network Security

MY GPA is good but my connections are 0.

To make this as short as I can. Thanks to moving back home to a rural town and my father I have two options worth pursuing.

I.T at a school district. Not VERY relevent but the pay should be good and the cost of living with internet is a little less than one check so I could be set. Plus I might be more fulfilled doubling as assisting the new band director.

I have one more option at a firm that handles security equipment. Which involves:

>setting equipment racks, running and terminating structured cable, installing head end and peripheral equipment and installing and programming equipment software.

>A person would need to be mechanically inclined, able to use hand tools and power tools effectively, be able to work at heights and outdoors and also have a good understanding of networks and their infrastructure.

>software is normally specific to the application, and is either taught internally, or through our vendor during a class at their location. We do venture into a bit of networking such as setting up port forwarding for off site access to our equipment, creating a VPN within our LAN for directing data traffic between our equipment, and a bit of QOS adjustments when necessary.

>We are a security integrator first, with a need for persons who have an understanding of network technology as it applies to the products we install.

This might look MUCH better on a resume for future employment but it's small and they expect a fair amount of coming in abilities. Its not that I'm not confident its just I don't want to risk not having the job again for whatever reason. At the school, you really have to try to get fired.

In essence, is it worth it to pursue working at the school and finding employment later knowing I'm secure there? Or will the experience I gain at the security firm look THAT much better?

You will probably be miserable at the security job. Working at a school is easier hours but probably less oay

So college just got way more expensive. I'm thinking of doing a coding bootcamp. Are they memes or worth it? Which one is reputable?

They are scams. Don't listen to any of the statistics that you hear from them, it's just capitalism trying to get you to shove money down their throat.

If you want to do development but can't afford college you are better off with self teaching Web and getting either a freelance job or at a local Web firm (location dependent)

I'm at work atm and don't have time to provide links but if this thread is still up when I get home I will.
>>
The ones that aren't a scam are good for people transitioning from another field/degree and already mastered the basics of programming.

I'm a poor faggot and I'm planning on purchasing a refurbished PC from ebay. I'm putting processor above everything else (saw PCs that were under $250 that had quad core cpus) and I will progressively put new hardware on. Any advice //?

get a used i5. don't fall for the fx meme.
>>
Quad Core doesn't immediately mean good. You get those 6 years ago and in £60 tablets.

You need a half way decent mobo if you want to upgrade later. Buying crap to begin with is pretty inefficient though, unless you absolutely need it.
>>
>>55765440
You should be able to get at least one Xeon E5 for that, though you would need to put that together yourself.

I'm thinking about getting a home NAS. I have been thinking about getting a Synology or possibly a QNAP. What do you guys recommend? Minimum 4 bays.
Homebuild is out of question as I better things to do than build and maintain my custom NAS system.

Like many of you, I unironically fell for the autists on here spouting the "Facebook is evil, you should delete your account" meme.
I now regret that decision as it is a great networking tool for building my career, not using it causes you appear as some sort of a social outcast and be boycotted in business. Now regretting all the great personal & business connections I lost.

How does one script a Bot to recognize text/buttons on screen to perform functions?

Does the script read the HTML and search for specific Tags? X/Y Mouse Coordinates?

I don't understand how people say "learn python in 2 weeks and script a bot" - I remember reading about Runescape bots, which would track objects directly from source code, and do a visual check on screen for items/mouse locations but i do not understand the implementation details

Could someone shed some light and elaborate on how this would be done. For example how would you design a bot to create accounts on a website ( implementation specific, not the random generator aspects )
