Does your video card and wifi work without non-free crapware?

Yes: install trisquel
No: install Debian, only install required firmwares

If you have noVidya or Intel HD there is a good chance they work without firmwares. You might have to install newer kernel from backports/testing. radeon required firmware files.

If you have atheros wifi, they work without firmwares.
If you have Broadcom, Intel, Ralink you'll need firmware fires.

Does apple intentionally make the battery life on the iphones so shit so you have to buy another one every few years?

Everyone knows batteries degrade, and eventually get to a point when it's unacceptable, but since other phones have much longer battery lives this doesn't become a problem so fast.

It seems kind of intentional since no one would mind a thicker phone.

I know what that is, and HATE the non removable battery trend for this reason, but the iPhones have a much bigger problem with this than anything else.

nice troll.
my iphone 5 still holds 87% of its original charge.

and if you want to talk about planned obsolescence, that's basically what android is. to get new version of android, you have to buy a new phone.

apple, on the other hand, supports 5 year old phones.

IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER

>early benchmarks for the Pixel and Pixel XL show Google's new flagship smartphones received lower scores than Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In fact, iPhone SE and iPhone 6s all finished with higher scores than Google's Pixel series.

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/181058/20161007/iphone-7-iphone-6s-and-iphone-se-outperform-google-pixel-and-pixel-xl-in-geekbench-benchmarks.htm

According to this: http://www.anandtech.com/show/10721/google-announces-pixel-phones

The 821 inside the Pixels are a running at 820 speeds, so it should perform like an 820. It's no surprising that Apple's CPUs score better at Geekbench.

So, i've been using VIM for 6 months now on my Win7 and Debian machines. Nothing fancy really just the basics and when i want to do something i just look it up on the wiki and it works.

One thing i like is being able to resize split windows with the mouse, scrolling up/down with the mouse and clicking to move the cursor. Of course i'm using the keyboard more but sometimes it's just handy to use the mouse.

My problem now is that on my new PC i can't use the mouse and it's driving me nuts, really..
:set mouse=a

just doesn't seems to work on my new setup. The mouse still can select things, and the right clic paste, but i can't move the cursor with it and i can't scroll or resize anything...

I'm wondering if it's because i'm on windows 10? And the terminal is worst than the one on win7.
Does anyone have experienced a similar issue ?

>use gvim
No i don't wanna, i want to stay on the terminal
>install gentoo

I think i'm just gonna have to learn to do stuff only with the keyboard now. I know there's shortcuts for everything i was doing with the mouse but i did use the mouse for so long now that it's hard to switch just like that. On new small projects it's fine but on the larger one when i have to move around a lot i take my mouse to realize it's not working, then i spend time searching for a solution, etc.
Or maybe it is time for me to try emacs

Oh wow you use vim how awesome
Your hakzor nao
>>
Just stop using the mouse.

nj = down n lines. Same for nk
nG = go to line n. Default is end of doc. gg goes to start.
C-) = forward in sentences, ( for backward
C-} = forward in paragraphs, {
/string = find string, n to search forward, N to search backward
F x = find x on the line.
While on brackets i.e., (, [, {, % will take you to the matching closing bracket.

You don't need a mouse in vim ever. Eventually you'll be faster than you are now with a mouse in anything.

So /g/ I need your help. I bought a new computer with a Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H Motherboard and all I get is a blank screen and 5 long beeps (or maybe 4 long, 1 short I'm not quite sure about the last one). I've googled but I couldn't find the corresponding error to the code.

As I said it's not, because my error code is not on that list.

The only thing that I've found which could be useful is this list which contains a 5 beep code but it doesn't specify the length or when it would occur in the boot process.

Was looking at 1440p 140hz monitors today, would my 280x be too weak for it? I don't care about max graphics as much as smoothness and high fps so if I could manage medium to high I wouldn't mind

Does "Disabling" Google apps stops the google botnet? I always have processes like "Google Location Service" going on (and I can't seem to be able to stop them for good, Location restarts immediately) and Google Play is updating things against my consent while trying to hide it from me (Google Play Games is automatically updated every time I bring it back to the factory version, without any notification). I don't give a fuck about most of Google's apps (if possible I would like to keep only the Store and Gmail), do I have to uninstall that shit or disabling it will be as effective?

>>
look retard, the os is made to be a trojan to fuck you in the ass with the botnet. if you want to use stock android or google's services, you're going to be subjected to whatever they want. it's like the mouthbreathers trying to change windows 10 telemetry, it wasn't made to have it disabled and just accept you either use something else or learn to live with the botnet

Hey /g/, about half a decade ago a kind anon here wrote me an extension to autoload the reply form on 4chan back when moot was fucking with the site code to pander to mobilefags.

I'm switching over to Opera 40.0 and can't get Opera to load the incredibly simple user javascript file. I also can't find anywhere to enable user javascript. Is Opera already fucking useless as a browser? Part of the reason I'm switching is that Chrome keeps deleting this custom javascript from my installed extensions because it's not part of their tyrannical store.

Here's the text of the extension in case anyone would like to enhance their vanilla browsing experience too.

// ==UserScript==
// @name Autoload the Reply form
// @namespace loadletter
// @description Load the Reply form on vanilla 4chan (without any extension)
// @include http://boards.4chan.org/*
// @include https://boards.4chan.org/*
// @run-at document-end
// @version 1
// @grant none

frm = document.getElementById("postForm");
frm.style.display = "table";
div = document.getElementById("togglePostFormLink");
div.style.display = "none";

I think you need an extension such as Violentmonkey or Tampermonkey.

>>56985385
You can do that with custom CSS, you don't need Javascript.
