My brand new motherboard takes 15 minutes to detect my monitor, and another 15 to boot into the built-in BIOS.
How bad did I fuck up? There's not even an OS on this thing yet.
install gentoo

update the firmware

>what is the bios
Unless you bought a motherboard from 1985 you should be fine
>Apple iPhone is actually one of the worst phones on Earth
What did they mean by this?
You missed the Snowden movie, didn't you?
Exactly what they said.
Did they mean "worst phone **for** earth?" Like in terms of environmental damage and human suffering?

Only time will tell.
>tfw you finally got your linux install working just the way you like and don't need to tool around with it any longer
Anyone else know this glorious feel?
ive known that feel for a long time
set up arch how you want it, everything just werks, been using the same installation for years
I feel that 80% of criticism of Linux is because of its setup, including hardware problems. Once you're past that point, it's generally smooth sailing.
Not a Linux user but I'm finally content with the way my browser and 4chan looks and it feels gud.
My sister needs a Casio fx-CP400 calculator for high school advanced math. It's what her school needs us to buy.
How do you rate this calculator?
>>56990368
It's a calculator alright.
>>56990368
Why are calculators still a thing when we carry around cell phones?
>>56990368
Pic related, it's a CASIO FX-991 ES PLUS C, identical to the FX-115ES PLUS
>tfw my university has a retarded calculator policy where it requires the American model version despite being in Canada
>tfw will have to buy a new one for my exams
aye guys
Buying as gtx1070 right now, but was sure you guys could answer a quick question, whats the difference of all the versions? and which one is more desireable? which brand is better? asus, msi, gigibyte, etc.
>>56990196
the new cards are coming out in may 2017 just wait till then
Refrence cards mean almost no difference
Just what company you think has better customers service
>>56990278
So you think refurbed 1080 will be close to $300?
Why do people still use mac? It's so shitty. The app store is a fucking clusterfuck, users have no liberty and are forced to follow the decisions of a group of morons. Trying to reinstall an older version on a friend's computer but it won't let me download anything but pic related from the app store. Friend's computer is old and sierra doesn't support it. Have to reinstall because drive failed.
>>56990053
For personal use? I have no idea. It's garbage.
That said I use it daily because iOS robots dutifully buy even the most simple CRUD apps like the consumerist animals they are. God bless them for letting me work from home and still make decent money.
same reason people use TI calculators
TI calculators aren't actually better than the competition, they just have contracts with schools that say "you will teach curriculum using our products, and we will provide you with some funding in return"
and then people are taught how to use one ecosystem, and only one ecosystem, so when they get out of school, they automatically are drawn toward what they already know instead of having to learn something else
>>56990053
Just go into the settings and set allow "apps from" to "anywhere"! What the fuck are you doing on /g/ if you can't figure that out?
hello will someone please make planescape: torment compatible with chromebook?
Yes, I will make it compatible with chromebook

my email is [email protected] just in case
You can solve fizzbuzz, right?
fizzbuzz isn't a problem that you solve. it's an exercise.
>>56989879
>solve
>fizzbuzz
god this board drops IQ by the day
>>56989879
It's a simple oversight problem for experienced developers
Note: don't ever have the string "fizzbuzz" print to the console in one line. It's a waste of a line.

How exactly do I set up/use Greenify? I have xposed now but do I tell it to suspend soecific apps or does the auto setting work? Does this shit even work? I never noticed a difference before but didn't have a rootable phone then.
Are there any other programs that do this better or is Greenify the best option for battery life?
If you have marshmallow try the setting that force doze, THIS will make you save battery life.
Well you add apps to the Greenify list (they show on the main screen) and then it should auto-hibernate.
Honestly it doesn't save that much, the force doze setting has the greatest effect but the app named Force Doze is much better at it.
use amplify in addition to what others have said about greenify to really cut down on idle battery usage. you can use its recommended "safe to limit" settings or you can look around for some guides to get some crazy savings at the possible expense of functionality
My son is getting older and now likes to tinker with shit. Sometimes expensive shit like my e-reader. You know what it was like when we're young, take shit apart, can't put it back together.
I was thinking about getting him an electronics kit. But unlike pic related, I don't want him to program using our computer. Nor do I want something so involved it will cause him to develop autism. I was thinking maybe a simple light kit with switches. He's too young to solder. any ideas?
>He's too young to solder.
>he doesn't make his wife's son do things hes too young to understand

You could just get Snap Circuits Pro, which doesn't have the experiments requiring a PC.
Hey /g/nu, e/lit/ist here.
Is it true that modern printers (about a decade ago or so) puts a mirco mark on every single piece of paper that passes through it, that identifies the printer it came from like a fingerprint?
And that windows 10 has access to the fingerprint?
Can they track you from your paper? Is it some security feature like how tazer guns have that confetti pocket?
>>56989475
>Is it true that modern printers (about a decade ago or so) puts a mirco mark on every single piece of paper that passes through it, that identifies the printer it came from like a fingerprint?
Yes
>And that windows 10 has access to the fingerprint?
I don't even know what that means
>Can they track you from your paper?
Probably
>Is it some security feature like how tazer guns have that confetti pocket?
I think it's some kind of anti-counterfeiting measure
Bump
Should have put printers in subject.
yes

>Why haven't you told me about KDE connect earlier, /g/?
It's too useful, it has too many features, it doesn't fit a minimalist aesthetic.
Why else do you think /g/ hates KDE and all associated projects?
>>56989457
I hate it because it's go so many fucking graphical bugs. To be fair, KDE is the closest I've come to ever liking using graphical Linux.
>>56989439
>Why haven't you told me about KDE connect earlier
Becasue /g is full of Pajeets advertising Windows 10 and vydia kids shitposting about GPUs
