What are some uses for having moar CPU cores? What could my computer do better for having them?
Maybe its a dumb question, but all google got me was "Should I get an 8 core processor for vidyagamez?"
More shit can run in parallel. For desktop use 4 to 8 cores is preferred. Don't listen to anyone who says Xeons are great for desktop use, they're idiots who like wasting money. The only time you'd need >8 cores is when you're either running servers or doing large amounts of video rendering (and even then you'd be using a GPU for that shit)
study the code of the programs you use to find out how well they handle multi threading so you can determine the optimal amount of cores

So basically it can run more programs at once without slowing down?
Will IBM ever go back to the consumer electronics market?
No, it's full of manchildren nowadays
>>56991917
something something microsoft
>>56991917
No, consumer market has become the big business.
IBM doesn't have the heft to compete with the likes of Apple and Google anymore.
>>Be Microsoft.
>>Do repeated testing and massive alpha/beta.

Why do you even try, Microsoft?
>messes up with most webcams out there
Hmmm

>>>Do repeated testing and massive alpha/beta.
"insiders" are shit at beta testing, but at least they do it for free. that's the pajeet microsoft logic.
tfw only use windows and chrome because u know they are the best out there but they still have problems (just less than linux/friefox)
god damn this world sucks
Hi /g/. Here's a script and a quick guide for running your own Twitter Bot for any board on here.
If you know Java all you basically have to do is set up your Twitter account API credentials and run the thing.
Give it a try: https://mianlabs.com/2016/10/09/making-a-4chan-twitter-bot-with-groovy-in-8-easy-steps/

Needs to remove the reply number to be usable
>>56991780
or change the reply number to the link or something. that way if i want to say "What [post_link] said" or "[post_link] \n this" then the tweet would make at least *some* sense.
>>56991794
But when the thread 404's the link would be dead
I've been trapped on eOS Luna for way too long. There are a ton of bugs and 12.04 is expired for too long now too. Where should I go from here? I was thinking Ubuntu Gnome Edition or whatever it's called. I've tried Ubuntu, and crunchbang and eOS Freya. I want to install everything by tonight so nothing that needs tons of configuration and something that will actually get updates.

There are apps I would be more than willing to pay for but I don't spend money on intangible content.
Why do so many people (read: homosexuals) want small computers?
Would it really be so bad for companies to standardize a larger size of computer with more powerful parts that cost less?
You wouldn't use a computer that was 2x larger even if it cost much less and ran faster?
>Would it really be so bad for companies to standardize a larger size of computer with more powerful parts that cost less?
It's called ATX form factor, you tit.

Is Linux said as LIN-UX or LINE-UX

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
Alright /g/ I listened to you and got the Axon 7
Is the stock software good enough? Because I want to keep that warranty and if you unlock the bootloader, you void the amazing 2 year warranty.
warranty is a meme

pick one cuck
Stick with stock for now. CM support is still developing and growing. A year from now we'll probably have a stable CM build worth a shit. Glad you didn't fall for the pixlel meme.
Hey /g/,
I have not been here in a few months. I posted about my project the last time I was here, any thoughts on my project so far? I got a vehicle going with bullet physics and I made my car customizable. And I only used FOSS libraries and assets to make everything. GameDev thread?

Why are AMD stock coolers so shit?
Cheap is cheap.
if you wanted quality you should've gotten Nvidia
Lol you posted a picture of a jet engine implying that the coolers provided on the amd™ GPUs are extremely loud! Funny
Now that RIM has a fire sale on the Passport, been thinking about picking one up. $250 for an OG Passport isn't bad, but still rocking the comfy Q10.
Passport worth the upgrade from the Q10? Who else /blackberry10/ here
>>56990862
I've had my Passport a few days now and love it. It's nice to go back to blackberry when my phone history went like this:
Nokia brick > SGH-X497 > Blackberry Pearl > iPhone > iPhone > 3G > 3GS > Jolla
Link??
>$250 is considered a fire sale on Blackberries
Who the fuck uses a Blackberry in 2016? $250 seems like it should be the regular price for such a nothing phone.
