Hackintosh works fine for macOS/iOS development. Just generate a unique system serial through Clover and get a brand new iCloud account through that.

I have never gotten a hackentosh to work right and I have tried to make a few

Just install Arch using arch-anywhere (google it). It will install arch for you and it will even detect that you are on virtual box so it will install all the virtaul box utils needed.
