WHY AREN'T YOU USING ULTRAWIDE BROTHA?
I'VE INCREASED MY PRODUCTIVITY INFINITELYYYY
>>56989120
I am. Wish I got a 4k monitor instead in all honestly.
>>56989120
Because I'm a poorfag and old 16:10 monitors are cheap. I would rather have multiple cheap monitors then one really expensive one.
>>56989120
>Only one monitor
Lmao
How do I be cool hacker like Mr robot and not manwhale communist like Stallman?
Just b yourself
>>56989045
A whole lot of fake phone numbers, aliases, and sock google accounts.
watch the ethical hacker series on techbuffalo for only 49.99 :^)
>try to install linux
>it doesnt work
why is linux so shit?
Linux is a virus that detects and only infects intelligent hosts.
>try to install ubuntu
>it kills my sdd
Fucking linus faget
I bet it was Debian.
We need a phone with cameras like this NOW.
>>56988863
Phone cameras were a mistake.
>>56988914
The point is: They could've been much better. Nokia 1020 pureview was a proof of that, but it was a flop because it was overkill, a 1/1.8~1/2" sensor would have already delivered excellent quality without having a bulky lens like the 1020 did.
I can't fathom why Apple still use shitty 1/3" minuscule sensors, Google was on the right track fitting a much "bigger" 1/2.3" sensor in it's pixel, too bad it is expensive as fuck and 1/2.3" sensor is still quite small.
>square sensor means no more vertical video
That is actually quite cleaver but feela kinda of a waste of sensor.
Why aren't you using Fedora? At least it's better than Debian!
>i made a mistake, make me feel better about it
No, you sit in your fucking fedora.
>>56988851
lmao
if i made a mistake i would just uninstall it.
Fedora
Has anyone ever used a rubber ducky to get someones passwords? was it a success?
Yeah got it to get some records about a nuclear site.
>>56988817
are you selling them by any chance?
>>56988802
there are many ways to use of them to achieve that. all depending on what kind of physical access you have and what method you use to retrieve them
Who here is /spatrys cup of linux/?
>>56988741
that is one cooky dude
I saw a few videos a few years ago but that's it

Is Windows 7 safe to use today? I have Ubuntu 16.04 but I'm just not as comfortable with Linux as I am Windows. Everything feels so different and it sucks when I try to use a guide on how to solve a network/internet problem and there's only a solution for the Windows OS and not the Linux because it seems Windows is that much more common.
>>56988728
Options:
A. Go to Win7. Get drivers. Turn off updates.
B. Switch to Debian (better for newbs imo)
C. Read. Q/A. Break. RTFM. Do. Git Good.
Here at microsoft we are deeply concerned over your choice of operating system. Did you know that windows 10 is compatible with all of windows 7 software, and it can run Bash? You get the beat of both worlds with windows 10. Upgrade today for $99 and we will donate .60 rupees to the National Indian IT job foundation, ensuring kids like you can have a future in IT and software development.

you have to go back
Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
How do you feel about it now?
How do you feel about this overall?
Idk, I'm just in a tough point in life where I'm unsure what to do and I'm not sure whether to go for tech course or multimedia or prostitution or what.
So some insight would be appreciated.
How did you get into... all this? Was it just instinct or what?
>>56988508
>Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
IDK my dad is an Engineer at Sony, my mom is a maths teacher. I probably got influenced
>Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
Not much nerdy. Wtf is left brained
>How do you feel about it now?
What? I'm doing Bachelors in Engineering, have a job and I'm happy with it
>How do you feel about this overall?
See above
>>56988508
If you're passionate about tech, go and study it. Even if you hate it in the future, you'll have a skill that is in demand and easy to move into another career. Don't go and do a fucking liberal arts degree and be no use to any company
>>56988508
I never touched any of this stuff until 17.when i finished school. Took it cause i liked vidya. Now i love programming so that shit every day. Have a full time job as a web dev. Good times.
So what exactly is web dev and how is it a career?
It can't be just making websites since my grandma can use WordPress.
>>56988476
Yup, pretty much just making websites. Major bucks are in making bloated websites and internal intranet apps for big companies.
If you are only used to WordPress, either experiment with Drupal or learn a real web framework.
Jesus christ Fallon is awkward.
>>56988476
>my grandma can use WordPress
Then she is in the minority. There still is a huge chunk of the population out there that believe that their access to the internet depends on the button with the Windows flag.
Hey, /g/. I am currently researching Proxmox, as I'd like to migrate my Debian 8 server + KVM VMs to it. I can understand all the container features and such, and that is why it appeals to me, as I'd like to have better management of what gets what resources and limiting CPU execution, and reducing full virtualization overhead.
My issue is with shared storage however, let me explain. My current host and setup is this:
Xeon 1240v3 with 8 GB of ECC
3TB HGST HDD formatted to XFS
Debian 8 Jessie
Services:
Samba - shares a directory /home/shares/public as "Public Share" for general storage, no limit, essentially is the entire available drive space that isn't being used
Plex - reads from /home/shares/public/Videos/*
Tonido - dropbox clone, allows me to get/send files to/from my server
Bittorrent Sync - syncs /home/shares/public/Music to and from my desktop/laptop
QEMU+KVM/libvirt - couple VMs, one of them being a Windows 8.1 image that serves as a media center with GPU passthrough and dedicated PCIe USB card for my home theatre in living room
I want to containerize the services, but still allow them to access the same "pool" of storage together. Is this possible to do without issues? If so, how would you recommend doing so? I'm just not really understanding it. I've read about creating a directory and NFS sharing it to them, but would this be wise to do so on Proxmox itself, or would this be a security concern?
Thanks /g/. Any help is greatly appreciated.
>>56988447
Oh oops I forgot to include it is also running Deluge and it saves to /home/shares/public/torrents.
So, to elaborate further, I torrent things like movies/music/games/etc, and then move them to their proper directories. So Plex will read my movies and TV and then my multiple media centres around my house that use Kodi can tie into Plex's database. Thanks again, /g/.
>>56988534
You can run a container that just hosts samba shares and map them on other containers or vms. That is how I handle management of my media to my plex server
Pic related, my single host
>>56988447
use esxi instead
So when are you getting you very own chromebook?
Im in love with this thing and you should be too.
Install Gentoo
Install gentoo
>>56988441
Never. I have a nice T420 that i can triple boot (or quad boot, if i wanted BSD/chromiumOS or something) with 3 batteries that was cheaper then the shittiest 1366x768 celery chromebook.
Who here HYPE for the new Macbook Pro? I know I am!
Guess what, guys? The craziest thing just happened. I just checked the Apple app on my iPhone, and my pre-order status on my new Macbook Pro went from "ongoing" to "cancelled!" Well, I called up Apple HQ and you know darn well I complained! I said "hey, I paid the $1799 plus shipping and tax for my new Macbook Pro, why does it say 'cancelled?'" The lady actually told me that they took on wayyy more pre-orders than they had new Macbook Pros! I haggled with the woman until FINALLY she put me back on the list. She was reluctant until I slipped her a fiver or two and I was back in business! Too bad I couldn't save my wife or her son a pre-order, too, right? Haha well what they don't know won't hurt 'em!
But she told me another secret, guys: pre-order a new Macbook Pro (release date: Oct/27/2016) in the next 72 hours and you, too, can get a chance to be the first group to get a new Macbook Pro! So who here is excited?
I'll start with a topic: what secondary operation system are you going to put on your new Macbook Pro? I'm going with Windows XP for the nostalgia! XD
>>56988249
fuck this consumer shit
>>56988249
First of all. KYS.
Second of all, I have never owned an apple device, never used an iphone or a macOS device.
Yet the last few months my lust/want/need for a laptop/ultra-portable computer has increased and thus, my gaze has edged towards the new macbook pros.
I was tempted to just get an XPS 13 but here I am, still waiting for macbook news.
Only thing I have heard that is bad, is the amount the macbook throttles the CPU under stress. This does sadden me.
>>56988389
get a refurbished or used one if you're planning to get a macbook. any model 2013 or after is basically the same
How on earth did this HDD make it to 33k power ons? It looks like it's time to retire it, too, unless I run some disk repair utility to eke out a few thousand more hours.
Post your dying or long-lived HDDs
>>56988211
Didn't want this thread to die without a response. Nice, op. Now what are you doing on a Saturday night posting pictures of your hdd stats? Are you lonely? Need a friend?
>>56988211
ok
>>56988293
Going through and organizing shit around my room while drinking a forty.
>>56988296
