Does apple intentionally make the battery life on the iphones so shit so you have to buy another one every few years?

Everyone knows batteries degrade, and eventually get to a point when it's unacceptable, but since other phones have much longer battery lives this doesn't become a problem so fast.

It seems kind of intentional since no one would mind a thicker phone.

I know what that is, and HATE the non removable battery trend for this reason, but the iPhones have a much bigger problem with this than anything else.

>Does apple intentionally make the battery life on the iphones so shit so you have to buy another one every few years?
nice troll.
my iphone 5 still holds 87% of its original charge.

and if you want to talk about planned obsolescence, that's basically what android is. to get new version of android, you have to buy a new phone.

apple, on the other hand, supports 5 year old phones.

I've had a macbook for almost 3 years and don't have this problem. I can still get close to the advertised 12 hours of battery life with half brightness and web browsing. I don't see why they would do it to their iPhones if they don't do it to their laptops.
>>
Replacing the battery in an iPhone is the easiest and cheapest fucking thing you don't even have to remove the screen. All you need is $20 and a YouTube tutorial to get going.

Does samsung intentionally make the battery on the note 7 so shit so that you have to buy another one every few weeks?

Everyone knows batteries can explode, and eventually get to a point when it's unacceptable, but since other phones have much longer battery lives this doesn't become a problem so fast.

It seems kind of intentional since no one would mind a phone that doesn't explode.
>>
>>56986478
because of cultural expectations. Laptops are expected to last 4-5 years and phones are expected to only last 2. Noone would buy an expensive ass macbook if it only lasted two years, but with the the iphone they are happy to get the opportunity to "upgrade" every other year.
>>
>>56986456

Every single battery does this, there's no getting around it but it's far worse with phones which have shit battery life. It seems like such a obvious cash grab.

Also
>poorfag

any min wage worker in a first world country can afford a new iphone each year.

>>56986478

The macbooks don't suffer from this much at all since they have brilliant battery life.
>>
>>56986521

iPhones have shit battery and a non removable battery life every single time.
>>
>>56986502
The only problem I had replacing the battery in my 4S was the adheasive they used to hold the old battery in place. It put up a good fight.
Apart from that it was a doddle. All the the tools came with the battery.
>>
>>56986623
Removing two screws is easy unless you're a fucking spastic retard like half of androids rabid fan base
>>
>>56986672

>implying that changes anything

There MUST be a reason they give it a shit battery life each year.
>>
>>56986456

>Every single battery does this, there's no getting around it but it's far worse with phones which have shit battery life. It seems like such a obvious cash grab.
no it doesn't. only fast-charging ones do because fast charging ages your battery 2-4x as much. regular-charging batteries easily last for 5+ years.

I still have an ipod nano from 2006 that I use for jogging and the thing still hold 70% of original charge. and I use it every other day.... for 10 years straight.

iPhone that are 4 years old are supported, and those updates make iPhone shittier to use, you Apple fan retard.

It says it on their website you spaz

>Your battery is designed to retain up to 80 per cent of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles

HAHAHAHAHAHH... is this what you Pajeets tell yourselves to make you feel better??? AHAHAHAHAHAHHA

That's all fucking nonsense. I've gone though many OS updates with my old phone and update has always made them better.

> you Apple fan retard.
hahaah... that rage of a Pajeet... hahaha
>>
>>56986884
and? do you even know how long it takes to go through 500 cycles? hint: it's not 500 charges and not 500 days if you charge every day.

you're a fucking moron who doesn't even understand how Li-ion batteries work.
>>
>>56987012

500/730 = 68 percent, and most people get through 68 percent in a day, so that's 2 years.

You see people with those external batteries a lot as well, which means quite a few people pretty much drain the whole thing each day.

Also note how it says up to, not a minimum of 80 percent.

My iPhone 4S has been having insanely poor performance since IOS 7 came out, and lets not even talk about 9. Switched to Android when I got tired of it and I don't even care about updates - Android 5 works fine and I don't see a reason to upgrade - even though I very well could right now.

I've had my iPhone 5S for 3 years now and it's doing fine. Lasts around a day and a half with normal use, which is close to what I experienced when I first bought it.
>>
>>56987593
you're full of shit. post pics of your 4S.
>>
>>56986656
You have to pull the tab until all the adhesive gets pulled away from the bottom of the battery, the process is easy as fuck.
Unfortunately there's so many things more to fuck up on the 6 and newer, like error 53.
>>
>>56986456

>>
>>56987661
It's a shame that app doesn't show much info on iOS 10.
>>
>>56987902
>>my phone is slow and not a lot of memory.
thats not the fault of software. phone is as fast as it was the day I bought it. hardware & CPU is the same.

problem is that developers, especially of games, push the limits so new games are slow on it.

that's not the fault of apple (or any other phone manufacturer for that matter).

My iPad 2 also having a poor performance too since iOS 7.
Even when I'm browsing with Safari, it's getting forced close with no reason at all.

>iPhone 5
That phone came out in 2012.
Four whole years ago.

The big android phone of 2012 was the Galaxy S3, and that thing has been outmoded and not updated for years now.
The 4s is still in use, and it's from the same vintage as my LG G2x. I wouldn't dream of touching the G2x again, but the 4s is still capable of running current apps.

You can fault the iPhone platform for many things, but longevity of support is not one of them.
