How is MATE so feature rich, functional, and lightweight?
It barely uses more resources than LXDE but is better than even a bloated mess like cinnamon or gnome.
Because gnome 2 was the pinnacle and arguably the best desktop environment Linux has ever had.

Not a coincidence.
MATE is made by Algerian sand niggers.
>>57009400
Then Algerian sand niggers are the greatest programmers when you consider there competition is junk like gnome 3.
I fell for the Raspberry Pi meme. Going to put OSMC on it, but I've realised there are better candidates for that the humble pi (mine is 3b btw.) Did you fall for the Raspberry Pi meme? What cool shit have you done with yours?

Tell me how this two differ.
I chose to compare and contrast these two shitty IDEs, but now I'm realizing that it was a mistake and I can't find enough info to match the needed word count.
Why choose those? Use CodeAnywhere. Seamless login when connected to GitHub, GitLab, etc. Very good.
>>57009422
I'm not choosing which one to use.
I just chose to compare them for my paper.
I think I've got enough info already though.
Share some. I like netbeans for java and C.
Should I buy Logitech Z333 ($ 66.00 new) or is there a better speaker system for this budget ($60-70) ?

No. Buy Genius SP1250 instead. Please fucking trust me

Anything is better than genius. Creative, Genius, Edifier, Microlab. Look whatever of those brands is available in your country. If you are ameriflap then first two. Make local market research as audio equipment availability is very local thing compared to other markets.
The point is, no matter what you buy don't buy logicrap.
I need the absolute cheapest, most barebones piece of garbage chrome/cloudbook that I can throw a random light linux build on and use while I go backpacking around the world.
I'm talking such a flimsy laptop that even the poorest niggers in Sri Lanka would look twice on it before grabbing it.
I've found this Acer piece of shit for $180, but I was wondering if /g/ had some cheaper recommendations before I go and splurge my hard earned money all over Acer's face.

I prefer a physical keyboard, mostly because I want to write a book while traveling.
And I don't know, I like the laptop aesthetic over a tablet design.

How is this allowed? Even Africa doesn't have caps since like 1990
i honestly don't know what approach to take in this explanation. you could be incredibly stupid and i might need to explain that there are laws and regulations and how corporations interact with legislation, or you could be intelligent enough to understand when i say "a lot of laws just don't regulate this stuff"
also a quick google suggests that south africa has data caps, and i can't think of a more industrialized country in africa, so i'm beginning to guess you're in that "incredibly stupid" camp.
>he fell for the "america is a super power" meme
It's not a cap, it's an internet "experience"

So, I was too babby when all the ps3/geohotz stuff was going down, and have a PS3 with the firmware update.
However, I want to get Linux on there now. Am I fucked? Googling just takes me to forums filled with clueless 13 year olds, but at least here the 13 yo's can install gentoo
>>57009127
I know that Linux on PS3 is called OtherOS. I heard something about Rebug supporting it, but I never tried that.
http://rebug.me/boot-otheros-otheros-prep-tool/
You'll need to downgrade your PS3 to 3.55 first.

>>57009177
Aha, many thanks senpai, though is not the 3.21 update the one that removed the otherOS feature. Can't read links ATM, just checking
>>57009127
I think this was supported only (and up to a certain firmware) on 80gb versions (fat 1st gen ps3) along with backwards compatibility. Later versions removed both them.

>>57009002
What's inconsistent about that?
split is a string function
join is a list function
when you googled this question, what further questions did you have? please point out the part of the answers you read that left you still confused.
>>57009009
actually both are string methods. the rationale for join being a string method is explained pretty succinctly in the first result of the screenshot in >>57009014

Whenever I see reviews for Android phones I can't believe just how low the battery life numbers people give are. I just took these screenshots on my iPhone 6s Plus a few minutes ago. This is the typical performance I've been getting with it for a full year now.
So why don't I hear more praises for iPhone battery life? It crushes everything else.
oh god here we go

Hey guys, I need your help.
I want to buy a laptop, my preferences are portability (not bigger than 15.6"),
performance (wanna play some newer games (racing games mostly), don't need maxed settings)
and of course, price.
Can you recommend me some particular models? I have fallen out of the loop with laptop CPUs/GPUs, thus I need your help to choose one. Thinking of pic related (Y700) any other suggestions?
Also, forgot to say that I need to use CAD and similar software. But I mentioned graphical performance (games) so it should be able to handle both of these things.
And I'm okay with buying a used laptop, at least I'd spend less
