Why do companies give out these pendrives at conferences, and them make them a pain in the ass to format?
I had to take this apart and find a recovery tool for its chip in order to format it, and then it's only 500MB.
>>57008742
I'd never even think to stick one of these on my machine.
i was actually on the program committee for a conference in my field. those USB drives are strictly supposed to be preloaded with the content for the conference - papers, videos, etc...
you're thinking of it as swag, which it's not.
(in my year we managed to move to digital downloads of a massive zip file, but it was a clusterfuck; the ACM site wouldn't host it and we had to pull strings with people at Dropbox to not be dickbags when a bunch of people went to download the zip and raised red flags. and then people complained because somehow they didn't have access to high speed internet anywhere, so we ended up making USB drives for something like ~10% of the conference attendance anyway (although i think only 1% ended up coming by to pick a drive up). still, it was a lot cheaper than if we had bought 4000+ USB drives.)
>>57008769
That's what it was preloaded with. It even showed up as a fucking CD when plugged in.
But why make them so goddamn inaccessible?
CAUSE I'M IN TOO DEEP

What does /g/ think of the Slimjet web browser?
The page seem to render weirdly, but this thing seems to render pages pretty fast.
I am not too sure how safe it is to use though so I won't be making it my default browser anytime soon.
I like it.
It sure beats Firefox.
Too bad it's apart of the Chrome botnet.

I want this meme to die.
Anyway it looks like some proprietary shitfest, and to top it off, the feature list is populated by bad practices, questionable numbers, and a bunch of shit noone cares about.

>bad practices
Huh?
>questionable numbers
What?
Why does Apple choose to use terrible glossy screens in their MacBooks?
It's literally the only drawback.
because in optimal lighting situations it looks much better.
apple has done this for a long time - define a very narrow use case that they think is reasonable, and then design a product that specifically suits that use case. if you're one of the 10-20% of people that uses a laptop out in an open space like outdoors, then you suffer greatly. but if you're part of the 80% or so that almost exclusively uses your laptop in places where the lighting won't cause tons of glare (e.g. in an office, coffee shop, etc...) then you benefit a little bit.
the 80% benefitting a little bit cumulatively outweigh the 20% that find it frustrating. or that's the math apple has worked out.
>>57008691
Yeah, that's why the vast majority of professional monitors are mate.
Fuck off macfag, you are the only one not seeing how shit glossy screens are.

if you're going to have a tantrum, why even post?
Alright /g/ you sold me.
I'm going to install Arch, I want to dualboot with Windows 10 UEFI. Tell me how to do this or link me to a good guide.
I've already installed Arch on a VM once.
>>57008629
Yes
>>57008629
Make sure Windows 10 is installed before arch, windows doesn't like to be on the second partition of a disk.

Anyone have any experience with sdd to ide adaptors? Working or waste of money?
Upgrading comp, and now that ide is dead, I ether try my luck with adaptors or throw old storage hdd's away.
Or you buy something that using fucking SATA3 like you're not an out of date faggot
>>57008538
>faggot
Says the Windows cuck.
i've used chinese ide to sata adaptors, they work but i just used it to transfer some files from an old hdd. Wouldnt use it permanently in a system because your gonna cap your transfer speed.
Which is the comfiest file manager and why?
I'd say Total Commander for Windows and Nemo for Linux. Both comfy as fuck, easy to use and have tons of great features.
I use Thunar.

Thoughts on this company? I have never had one of their SSDs and graphic cards crap on me unlike ASUS and Samsung.
Bought a gt 710 from PNY. Was dead on arrival. Since then i wouldn't touch it with a 30feet pole
Bought a CS2111 SSD. It feels really unpolished but it works.
>>57008280
I sometimes buy SD cards from them.
Good sustained R/W speeds, but fucking terrible 2-4 IOPS.

Sorry OP, but this almost certainly means he has tranny porn on his computer and doesn't want you to find out, but he still needs you to fix his computer in order to get his fix.
>>57008290
How is that even something to be sorry about?
I've jacked off to tranny porn, doesn't mean I'd fuck a tranny. Whatever gets my dick hard
I'd expect a brother to be this fucking whiny but not a goddamn dad
