I don't care, it's worse the sacrifice imo
To what extent can professors see what is sent between students personal computers on campus wifi? In our last lecture hall, we had a test over matlab. The professor emailed us saying he believe 16 students communicated with each other during the test, and that it is compromised. How would he come to this assumption? We do not have proctors, etc in the class. He said he is still "investigating". I suspect that maybe 16 people missed the exact same questions and had the exact same responses. Or do you think he personally could observe the traffic of over 100 computers and see if students were using messaging apps to communicate mid test. We were allowed to bring a laptop as the test was over matlab.
>>57003466
It is a bluff you moron
>>57003466
It's a bluff. I was a TA before and we used to do this shit all the time. I always felt sorry for the poor idiots stupid enough to actually come up and confess for a "lesser punishment" when we had no actual proof.
>>57003493
>>57003504
That is what I thought. His exact phrasing was:
"You can go to the testing center site and see your preliminary grades for the exam.
I believe that approximately 16 students have compromised the exam by communicating with each other during the test. I am looking into this.
As soon as I resolve this sorry issue, I will make the grades official."
Seemed like he did not have any concrete evidence and wanted people to reveal themselves.

I'd love to try out bsd but my Intel PRO wireless card is gonna be a pita to configure. Might check it out later.

Can I dual boot BSD and windows 7 or 10?
,also is the Gtx 1070 supported?
>I'd like Chromebooks for the cheap hardware to install Linux on if it wasn't for this one pet peeve
They could have at least made it removable, like a sticker or something, instead it looks like they etched it into the laptop.
>>57003388
take your tramp stamp bitch
Then put something over it like everyone does with their laptop's branding. I covered my Compaq's branding with a big OpenSuSE sticker. Or even just use tape.
Personally I like the Chrome on mine though, it really ties the room together

It's just a logo. What's so offensive about it?
My computer has 4GB of DDR3 1866 RAM
I got a 16GB stick of 1600Mhz as a gift.
How much of a downgrade is going from 1866 to 1600?
Timings matter just as much if not more than clock speed.
>>57003259
Precisely 266 Mhz.
Literally nothing
Technologically retarded here can someone give me the abridged online security briefing?
Can a normie be private anymore? How paranoid should I get about it.

Barely anything except audited free software, which is nearly non-existent
/g/, Winfags, explain this to me. Where's local log in? Why does pajeet need to set up my account through the Microsoft domain?
when you get to the part where it asks you for an email and password just dont enter anything and click next.
>installing win10
you deserve all the frustration youre getting, and are still yet to experience
You can just click "skip" or something on the account page and you can setup a local account.
>What does /g/ think about Perl?
I'm learning it for a new job but halfway through this book I feel like its a big waste of time. I already know python and it feels like everything that I am doing is a shittier version of python. Anyone here work with perl? How common are perl jobs? I do like the regular expressions and the way I am using them with Perl I could use in python I just did not know how I could have used them before I read this book.
References are a great idea, terribly implemented. And that's what I think about most features of Perl.

I don't trust it since Applebaum left.

Python does a lot of things half assed, but even as ugly as py is, it's often prettier on screen.

Can /g/ explain with simple words what virtual functions are?
They shit and you shouldn't use them.
A function used for programming VR environments
Imagine a struct with a void * member function pointer.
A virtual function is literally just a "default" function pointer that can be "polymorphed" aka OVERRIDDEN with another function pointer.
OOP people have their heads up their asses so hard, coming up with complex-sounding terminology for things that already exist.

But officers, I can see it's expired!!!
My brother accidentally kicked the power cord to the computer (running Ubuntu), and it shut off.
Now when I try to turn it on, it shows the Ubuntu logo a bit bigger then normal with about 5 orbs loading, and once they're fully loaded, nothing seems to happen until I hit the power button.
This makes it restore to normal resolution. The orbs refill again, and it shuts off.
If I hit Ctrl+Alt+F6 I see this message:[ *** ] A start job is running for Hold until boot process finishes up (3m 22s / no limit)_
How long do I have to wait? What other tactics should I look into. Is the computer bricked? Can using the Ubuntu install iso on a USB stick fix this, with a repair option?
I'm about to go to mass, so I'd have to make a new USB before I can try this option. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Install Gentoo. Seriously, Ubuntu is shit.

I use Calculate Linux for my personal computer and laptop, but this is a family computer. It's difficult enough to ease them into babby-mode Linux, without taking risks and using less reliable but more elitist bleeding edge software.
I know Unity has some crappy botnet things, but I use other DE's so I don't think that is a big problem, and even Richard M. Stallman admits that Ubuntu puts you must closer to freedom then Windows or OSX.
