I didn't really know where else to ask, but I'm going to uni in a bit. I have a fairly significant amount of music, movies, and chinese cartoons stored at home (approximately 18 TB). After uni, I ship out for the military. Is there any cheap way I can keep this data readily accessible as I move to a dorm, apartment, and eventually move somewhere else without a permanent place of residence? I know that cloud backup services exist but most of the ones I've seen seem like an expensive hassle. I'd just like to keep all my music and movies with me as I move.

Set up your home stuff as an ftp server.
setup open vpn on your router
>>57008865
Sounds dope, but provider is shit and my location makes it hard to get a decent, consistent connection. How would I set my stuff up into a server? It's all just sitting around in a tray case I have with several drives. Should I look into making a VPN server out of an old desktop I have lying around? How would that work?

No, please learn about all kinds of different protocols and kind of methods of cryptography.
Be original, different from the standard and that's how you defeat the surveliance.
But first of all, stop using this honeypot if you want to be NSA proof.
>>57007974
this question ...
how could you prove that it is NSA save?
also if they *realy* want to crack things they can. it is a question of money and time.
Say i wanted to create my own crypto-trading website such a Poloniex or Bittrex. What would be the main components of the site and what elements would i need and what are the called in programmers language?
for example, what would i need to ask a programmer to provide if i wanted to the option to:
-buy/sell coins, moving coins from one user account to another
-show a list of buy/sell orders
-show a list of past trades
-show graphs of coin prices
basically, what are the individual elements of the Poloniex trading system called so i could describe them to a programmer?
this is just a hypothetical, i want to understand but i would like to know what i need to read about so i can understand how the site works from a technical point of view.
apologies for being a newb.
How much do you intend to pay your programmer(s)?
>>57007934
i'm just looking for information so can read up on what is behind the scenes and what goes into making such a website. beyond html i have no coding experience, so i have no coding experience, but i would like to study it.
if i just wanted a site i would stick an ad on upwork and ask someone to clone one, but i am not as i am just looking for the knowledge. folks on /g/ seem quite helpful and willing to show people the way.
i don't know the terms of what things are and would be appreciative if someone could tell me where i should look
Just kill yourself, you fucking cretin.

This computer is 10 years old and doesn't feel any worse to use than a modern computer.
It has 802.11n, USB 2.0, and SATA2 so you would have no issue adding an SSD or using it with modern wifi routers.
And it's 10 years old. It wasn't even that long ago when your computer would become woefully obsolete after only 2 years.
The only "progress" made in the last 10 years has been battery life and THINNESS at the expense of everything else.
When did computing simply stop progressing?
Is it gonna be like this 10 years from now?
Will I be able to use a 2016 thinkpad in 2026 without issues?

What's the advantages of cisc over risc?
Isn't risc better because it takes less cycles to complete an instruction?
Is x86 the only popular cisc architecture? Is it still cisc? I remember reading something about x86 executing risc instructions instead now, so is modern x86 risc or cisc?
>>57007746

>>57007746
woah thats some nice pussy. fml im way to horny.
RISC is better, hands down. The reason we still have x86 is due to compatibility. Intel processors are actually RISC processors with CISC decoders built in.

Use it with an industrial camera to play with machine vision. Learn to write code to make it recognize things. Then connect it as part of a larger system for another project. A drone that follows whoever has a specific piece of paper on them. A sentry turret that shoots Fedex employees only. An OCR scanner for text books to upload them online.

What are the differences between x86 and arm and which architecture is superior and why?
>>57007514
Google it lazy faggot
>>57007514
x86 is a complex instruction set, which means that it executes its code primarily with imaginary numbers. arm is a reduced instruction set, which means it is only capable of limited-precision operations. Since they operate on different principles, it is hard to compare them.
Hope this helps.

Is there any way to convert a PDF to a decent eBook?
With Calibre I get a lot of formatting errors, and if I just use PDFs natively it's a pain in the ass to read because it basically just works like a glorified image viewer.
it really depends, but the short answer is no.
some PDFs are text with all the fonts and shit embedded in the document. but some PDFs have images in them (like figures) or ARE images - literally scans of old text documents. those don't translate well into epub files.
this is why if you're looking into an ebook reader and most of your content is PDFs, especially highly variable content, then you should just get a tablet with a normal screen that can adapt to that.
some pdf is just one big image those u cant do

samsung sells a lot of other exploding products. their stock price and earnings reports were even unaffected by this news when they recently announced all that shit.
samsung is highly, highly diversified. they're all over the place, including manufacturing OEM stuff.
