Is it true that 120/144 FPS monitors usually break after only a few years? I asked for advice on purchasing a new one after mine broke, and I was told that I should only do it if I'm okay with buying a new one every few years because that's how long they usually last for. The high frame rate supposedly puts considerable strain on the components in the monitor compared to more common rates like 60 Hz.

Playing video games is bad.
Who still plays video games here? When will you learn that spending any time not programming is time wasted?
Who here wants OP dead?

Can we get a netbook appreciation thread?
Currently posting on my Dell Mini 1012 with 2GB RAM, Atom N450, and running Lubuntu 14.04.
I know they're underpowered, but they're cheap and I love the little fuckers. Picked this one up for $35
Oh yeah, I have the model with the 1366x768 screen
>>57023481
Picked this up new for 150$ Canadian. Having that 10 hour battery life is great.
I really have't found much use for the touch screen/tablet mode though.
>>57023663
I guess the tablet part is neat, but I personally don't give a fuck about it. I hate the glossyness of tablet-netbooks. I own a tablet but I use my netbook around ten times more because I like the full feel of a computer.
What is the best way to get a ds3 controller hooked up to a PC. I used to use motion joy, but I hear that it is a horrible program. Or should I just say fuck it and switch to an xbox controller since they are designed for windows
>>57023416
If your preference is a DS3, use the MotioninJoy driver and Better DS3 Tool for the interface and delete the MotioninJoy frontend.
If you like the Xbox controller more, just go for that.
Might as well get a DS4 if youre into the design, very configurable and solid nowadays.
>>57023519
Nope
>>57023416
Look up "SCP Server" it basically maps the Xbox api to the DS3 and DS4; can be fiddly but if it works it's fantastic.
Is it possible to play wirelessly with a DS controller on PC?

Google "Arch i3"
It's not a hard image to find.
Ok guys i'll make it clear, i want to start using some linux distro and possibly even learn some better language than fucking visual basic. So, what do you recommend me for start? Some here says gentoo. others debian, take me for a starter, do your best. (Inb4 Arch)
>>57023358
If you want to learn something, then Arch. If you just want to use muh Linux then Ubuntu.
As for programming languages, I'd say Python is pretty beginner friendly.
>>57023358
Arch
Install gentoo
>he'd even consider being an archfag
---Arch linux noob thread---
So i recently installed Arch and i configured the nameservers and the default gateway to 8.8.8.8 and 192.168.1.1 respectively.
But I still dont have internet. The cable is plugged in and i somehow (no fucking clue how) got it working earlier and then I rebooted to see if the issues was still there.

Tell me /g/ents what can I do to fix this?
>---tech support thread---

What are you working on /g/?
First for Hardoop
def salary_sort(thing):
def importantparts(thing):
for i in range(1, len(thing)):
a=thing[i].split(':')
output = (a[1],a[0],a[8])
print(output)
return importantparts(thing)
So far my output looks like pic related, I want it to be sorted from highest numerical value to lowest however.
How would I achieve that using a lambda function?
Any nice intermediate book on assembly programming (either in general of specifically about ARM (v6))?
I'm done a little bit of programming on MIPS and 8021 and I'm playing around on a raspberry pi now.
Sup /g/, So I just an unlimted data plan and I cut off isp since it was cheaper.
>Unlimited Data -60/per month
>Regular plan (40) + Cable Isp(50)+(10)late fees=fuck that noise
Over all I'm satisfied with my new net speeds and after about 3 weeks of use I haven't throtteled
Problem tethering my phone all the time is burning out my battery, Litterally the phone is seething. Is there way to to keep using my phones data plan for everything without turning it into a hot skillet and murdering its battery?
>TFW when battery is "sealed"
>Tfw the Samsung masterace was right all along
You have a zenfone 2? Users on here have been complaining about that phone since it came out. You were warned about how shitty it was.
That's Zenfone 5...I got it...it sucks.. ..especially in terms of power
Usb tethering?
