Why do you faggots keep buying and recommending thinkpads when elitebooks are so much better and more aesthetic?

Ah shit, just realised that's missing.

But I do think the design looks much better than a cheap looking plastic thinkpad. Still just curious since there's also latitudes and elitebooks out there too.

>>57020156
>probably

It has same specs as thinkpads but with better cooling.

Also great touchpad and keyboard.

More is always better, but everyone has his own budget. I've got a 1080p monitor and a 4K TV and the image quality is another planet. But I can't justify a 4K monitor yet, and 1440p is too close price wise.

both
>27" 1080p 144Hz for gaymen
>27" 1440p 60Hz for productivity, mainly coding. And for some games like civ5

Redpill me on solar and renewable energy. Will it replace oil in the long run? What are its limitations? Is nuclear the master race?
31 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>57019674
If oil ever runs out, budgets will likely go all towards renewable energies in an effort to prevent the world from stopping altoghether.

That being said, realistically I picture a future where we make oil out of a renewable product rather than replacing it.
>>
>>57019674
Nuclear is to only option that can meet our energy needs without turning the planet into Venus but everyone thinks it poisons the atmosphere. When in reality coal gives off 10x as much radiation and you would need a Chernobyl level event a year to mach the damage coal does.

>If oil ever runs out, budgets will likely go all towards renewable energies in an effort to prevent the world from stopping altoghether.

We probably don't have time for this - proven supplies are less than 40 years at current rates of usage.

OP - renewable energy is pretty good. Solar could power the entire United States power grid if we put panels in the medians of every highway, or if we put them across approximately the size of South Dakota.

Every single household. Powered for free, excluding cleaning the panels and replacing them every 30 or so years.

Pretty good deal. Definitely the future - though I think it may be regional. For example, in the south there's a lot of sunlight for solar, and unpredictable wind for wind energy. So the south would go Solar.

Deserts would need to import energy. Arizona is too dusty(dust messes up solar) and not windy enough for example. They would need lines from the midwest or south.

Wind energy works better in some places like Canada.

But a reasonable mix should be able to power everywhere for much cheaper.

Coal is a non-option for long term power because we need too much electricity now. The pollution would be unbearable. We're only able to get a little of our power from coal right now because everything else runs on oil, which is a quickly disappearing resource. It will be gone in our life time as a viable power source for the world.

So, in popular culture, we often see hacking misrepresented, frequently, especially in TV shows, but often in movies and video games as well.

How would you represent "hacking" in a video game, instead of just solving some visual puzzle for a password, or rolling a skill check and seeing some kind of terminal shit?
30 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>57019670
What you're describing sounds more like cracking to me.
>>
There isn't any way to represent it with an active component in a videogame. Skill check and hand waving is literally the only thing that is even remotely realistic because "hacking" in most cases involves exploiting vulnerabilities, social engineering and phishing, direct access exploitation, etc.

Actually trying to design a game's hacking minigame on something like SQL injection would be extremely boring. Rolling a 20 sided die and saying "your character gains access to the system by exploiting a little known zero day" is much better.

Strange, most universities I've seen uses Ubuntu when they need a GNU/Linux environment, if not, CentOS/Debian for the networking course.
