why does everyone in the technology board hate technology?
>>57022938
Because 4chan is a very popular site and technology a very broad subject. 'Technology' to a lot of people means phones and video cards. There are few enthusiasts here and little community.
>>57022938
I don't think /g/ hates technology. I think /g/ hates useless & pointless technology. Kind of like if it ain't broken, then don't fix it sort of stuff. Like wireless earbuds is stupid (Even if it's "technology") because what we have right now isn't bad, it's super cheap in comparison and it just werks. That's why a lot of old stuff is praised here, like the Nokia feature phones. The tech was simple, but it worked 100 percent at what it needed to do. People like old version of windows because they worked well whereas windows 10 offered a lot of new stuff, but it came in mixed with a lot of useless shit too. Personally I don't mind innovation that improves stuff that just works and makes it better. There's no point in re-inventing the wheel and making it shittier, which is what's happening with the new trend in tech.

Visual Studio Code or Emacs /g/?

Can someone please explain to me why the fuck would anyone use Solaris? What kind of individual/corporation would be willing to use this nonsense? Holy fucking shit, dudes.
I'd rather use Haiku ffs.
>>57022824
Solaris 10 and lower were excellent and paired really nicely with the Sun hardware it was meant to run on. 11 however has been nothing but Oracle hellspawn since the beginning, though that's hearsay because I never bothered with it.
>>57022846
>Sun hardware
W.H.Y
>>57022824
because linux on SPARC is an abortion and illumos is dead and/or half-assed
>What kind of individual/corporation would be willing to use this nonsense?
mostly large companies running big DB servers or other shit where the platform's varying features are useful, same goes for AIX
Just downloaded Ubuntu.
Looking pretty lame, any tips on customization and making it look badass?

Most adults have likely moved on. /g/ was a pretty neat place to discuss technology (both software and hardware!), but nowadays it's all consumer electronics. Gone are the botnet days - people no longer believe in privacy, thinking that it's only criminals that need it. The word "botnet" is just used to fit in nowadays.
I am pretty aware that the meaning of "botnet" has been changing over time, but I've seen people call completely unrelated things botnets.
Continuing on, technology gets boring after a while. Discussion grows stale as people leave and find other hobbies. They may remember the existence of /g/ when something big happens in the tech field, and swing by for a day or two, but we all know this isn't going to happen. A simple look at the catalog will push them away.

How to get an internship at an IT/software company?
Do you just email them your CV/resume?
>>57022609
Fuck off Pajeet. We're full.
>>57022609
No, my dad gets me in. If you don't have a dad who works at an IT/software company, then I can't help you.
>>57022609
If you're white, wear a suit to the interview
Do you like python??

It's easy to hate 'rockstar programmers' and hipsters
But I'm watching a 'traditional' programming lecture and holy fuck it's so slow and boring
>>57022232

Still GTA V was a good release
