What is typically the safest and smartest pick for tech industry if you're applying solely off your portfolio and have no relevant degree?
I don't plan to make six figures or anything ridiculous, just wondering what kind of tech jobs a guy like me can get? $40-50k out of reach?

I fucking need advice desperately /g/, please fucking help me.
I'm a hoarder of information. Somehow, it's all important to me. My interests are all related to computers for the most part, but they extend to physics and sometimes pharmacology/chemistry, entomology, etc.
Right now I'm looking at a stack of 7 notebooks sitting on top of a big black binder which has 5 sections and contains an expanding folder which is filled with dozens of loose-leaf documents I have handwritten. The notebooks are almost all filled and the 5 sections of the binder are bursting. I also have an online notebook filled with links, and an external hard-drive which has hundreds of pdf files.
I have no idea what to do. I can't even program. I mostly look at network theory, cryptography, random interests related to Linux, AI, ANNs, and like I said physics etc.
What happens usually is I come across an article or something that interests me. Naturally I paste the link to my online notebook and start reading it. If there's something I don't understand in the article, or if there is something I'd like more details on, I go and look that up. Meanwhile, I'm furiously writing down all of the 'important' points, and before I know it I've got 15+ tabs open and it's three hours later and I have no idea what I'm doing. I never finish anything because of this, because I always tell myself "well I have to understand this first before I can go on and do this".
I'm not in school right now. I missed the deadline so I'm waiting until next year, at which point I'm enrolling in comp-sci or network engineering. This will give me structure, but I've got a whole year ahead of me and a lot of good ideas that I want to implement.
/g/ I don't go out because of this. I get invited to local events and I just don't go because I'd rather take notes. I didn't go to my family's Thanksgiving dinner (Canadafag) because I wanted to 'study'.
I have practical ideas, I do, I just don't know where to start.

The Galaxy Note 7 was my first premium phone, as I've always been a poor fucker up until recently. Now that my phone's been recalled two fucking times, I think I'm done with Samsung's stupid bullshit. I'll be getting a refund and exchanging as soon as possible.
What phones are worth it and aren't absolute garbage. What can compete against the Note 7? The LG V20 looks pretty nice (SD slot, stabilized camera, removable battery), but that bootlooping shit sounds kind of scary.
