So if a presidential candidate's emails aren't safe, what does that say about the rest of us?
Also, how are they doing it?
By installing Gentoo
>>57052386
Gentoo is unhackable?

Nobody cares about your anime porn subscription. You will be fine.
are careers in hardware viable? most of the high paying jobs in IT are either Server side, networking, or some type of hybrid programming....do you think its possible to have a career in it with a strong hardware backing and make a decent salary?

>do you think its possible to have a career in it with a strong hardware backing and make a decent salary?

>>57052366
if you want to work with hardware only, you should join the military or be a field tech on websites like field nation
>>57052409
I always wanted to deal with hardware exclusivly but i did not know that electrical engineer was that path....don't you have to learn about circuitry and circuit boards and all that shit as well?
transistors and capacitors and all that jazz?

>>57052884
>tfw protonmail traffic goes through the IDF
No thanks.
Do you have it? Does it work or is it just more of an annoyance?
Yes it's worth it
But use Authy or something it's really easy
>>57052297
I didn't know you could do that, pretty neat
>>57052284
yeah I have authy + a Yubikey
Sticker thread.
I'm going to a big hackathon run by Chase over the weekend.
You guys got any tips for me? My first hackathon went really, really badly and I haven't done any since then.
>>57052076
Have all of your shit ready before hand, don't do any actual hacking.
>>57052076
If you can join a team before the event, do it. Having a working idea in your head going in puts you at a huge advantage.
Install Node.js. I'm not even kidding. If you don't know Javascript, hit Codecademy right now.
Remember that you're essentially building an MVP (minimum viable product). That is, if you chose to make a startup out of it, you could publish it online as a 1.0 version only a few hours after the hackathon ended. It's gonna be really rough in spots, but it needs to be usable.
Try to have a UI/UX designer on your team. Presentation is a part of how the judges score your hack. (It's not as big as the functionality aspect, but it can still fuck you over if your hack doesn't have at least one thing with parallax. I mean, you are hacking for an investment bank.)
You're there to try to win the hackathon. But you're also there to learn. There's an old saying that goes "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." Roughly translated, it means give it your best. Because even if you don't come close to winning, you're still going to learn more in that small time period than a few weeks of reading books.
Oh, and bring business cards with you. Stay in contact with people you meet. They can become invaluable connections.
And finally, have fun! Don't go overboard on the free food and Red Bull, though. (It's way too easy to eat more garbage than you need at hackathons.)

What went wrong at the last one?
Hey /g/ what stickers do you use in your laptops?
None.
But why?
>>57051979
On*
Do you use Fedora Linux /g/?
>>57051978
No, Arch
Install gentoo
10/fedora
its a good desktop distro if you work in sysops and with el servers
How do you guys feel about the games TIS-100 and Shezhen.IO?
>>57051847
that's a game? looks shit
>>>/v/
>>57051862
>he doesn't know about TIS-100
>>>/b/
>>57051862
Yes.
I haven't played it yet, I just learned about it today. It's a puzzle game where you fix bits of assembly in a fake computer to get the program to run correctly.
Hey /g/ is it possible to get a mini pc that I can put into my 5.25 drive bay and install loonix on?
I've seen this via artigo, but it is like 300 dollars.
>>57051807
How exactly would you expect something like that to cost any less...?
>>57051820
You can buy a phone for 100 bucks and it's smaller
>>57051827
Then why don't you buy a phone for $100 and install Lincux on it and stick it into your 5.25 drive bay.
>/g/ always goes on about how good arch is
>spend all week trying to get it installed by following the sh*tty guide on the wiki
>persevere because if it takes this much work it must be good, right?
>finally manage to get it installed
>boots up
>literally just a terminal, nothing else
what the f*ck why do you idiots recommend this
post times you fell for /g/ memes
>>57051802
No one recommended Arch, retard.
>>57051808
LITERALLY 90% of /g/ uses arch, how is that not a recommendation
I am literally downloading Arch Anywhere and going to try it.
What mouse do you use, /g/?

Please kill yourself very soon.
Looks edgy as fuck. I would probably wear it when i was 14
>>57051736
Don't
Ok, /g/. What the fuck? Deepin, elementary, anything with GNOME 3 or XFCE in their default configurations and now this shit. Why are distros so desperately trying to look like macOS?
What distribution is that? Looks comfy
because macOS is the best looking OS
>>57051728
Because OS X was designed by capable talented people.
It stands the test of time despite the changes only being incremental
