What first motivated you to get into programming? What kept you motivated? I've been thinking about learning a language for a while but I just can't think of any possible reason why I would use it.

The feeling of being complete and totally useless and wanting to feel like I could do something. Also I like games.

Nowadays what keeps me going is trying to find work and that I'm genuinely interested in technology and code. I still like games but I have a much higher appreciation for all things tech. I love to program. That and I don't know what to do with myself anymore.

Fucking around with QuakeC for Quake mods.

Realized most of the shit I learned applied to C itself when I started taking college classes a few years later. Breezed through pretty much all the courses.

Thanks, Carmack!

dude, just sort your shit alphabetically by artist, and point foobar at your music folder
>>
>>57053264
i have lots of korean and japanese music and it doesn't sort properly. i need it to sort by folder and in a hierarchy. don't know of any way to do that other than sqltree.
>>
>>57053264
manually sort it in your music folder by artist/album then use foobars view by folder structure. that's what I do because tags are annoying as fuck because if you get your music from more than one source, that shit's inconsistent as fuck.

but that's just me, I'm kind of anal about it and hate tags because I have a large collection and shit's inconsistent I've tried everything, even beets but beyond manually retagging everything to have exactly the same spelling and exactly the same capitalization there's really no getting around shitty tags. just use utf8, addon, I think it's callded foochacon. also you'll get more, and better help than what I can offer if you visit hydrogenaudio

If a hacker got ahold of someone's cell phone number and all he knew was that that persons name, Facebook and the cell number what could the hacker do? What info could be obtained?

I bought a motherboard from Newegg that arrived defective. However I took it out of the box and have clearly tried to use it (mostly during the process of figuring out why my computer wasn't working.)

Are they going to give me a hard time if I try to return it? It's bad enough I suspect it will take 7+ days to get a new one if I do.

>>57052739
If it's broken, you can get good service from newegg. How would you know it was broken without using it?
>>
>>57052749

That's what I figure, but their policy vaguely states if it was opened/used it's not subject to a return.

No, this actually happens alot.
Send in an RMA request stating the board was DOA and that you couldn't get it to post.
I'm guessing it was either an Asus board or MSI..
Regardless you'll be fine.

it is very real, but 4chan is very good about making sure hidden files are not embedded in images. Your best bet is to not go to suspicious links lest you get hit by a drive by download or similar nasty. If you're plotting to overthrow the federal government you really shouldn't be using a normal computer anyways you fucking retard lmao if you are planning something naughty they probably already know, good luck with that buddy.

I'm going nuts /g/ fuck, everywhere I see is just another way for them to track you, 2FA, ,multiple email account, encryption ,longer passwords, but in the end I know that they can access everything with their massive computers and techniques.
Same with hackers all they need to do is social engineering.

Take a break from the internet for a while.

Like get in the car and go camping with your phone off for 2 days.
>>
Taking a break won't work. Just stop using real info, you fuck wit. Even if they can trace it back to you, you aren't doing anything illegal or anything that can be traced back to you with a million different ways to link you to it. I think so, anyway. I think you're just freaking out because you're being more social. That or you're black and you are a part of one of those societies that screws themselves over just so the kids will learn the harshest lessons and do so so that the kids will latch to the group like there's no possibility for coexisting.

You charter the endeavour too much. Just keep it to yourself.
>>
>>57052967
But what about places that require real info like amazon?
