No, Arch
Install gentoo

10/fedora
>>
its a good desktop distro if you work in sysops and with el servers

Why with EL servers?

Nope, gentoo experimental. So I can use bleeding edge packages without the redhat jew.

Yes. I am awaiting a decent systemd free alternative.

>most init systems use archaic means of startup and have to hack around with scripts 90% of the time to get shit to work the way you want it
>most of these tasks can be completed with systemd is literally one string command settings and it just werks

autists really love making shit harder than it needs to be to look superior

My problem with systemd isn't necessarily the non-unix philosophy, it's the fact that the devs seem bent on pushing out all other alternatives and absorbing as many other programs and services as possible.

Could you clarify? If by 'pushing out all other alternatives' you mean 'blowing Upstart, OpenRC and other init systems that don't really have major improvements compared to sysvinit out of the water' then yes, that's true.

Just read this.

>>
>>57052792
This is just about as ridiculous as complaining that people can still forkbomb...
>>
>>57052865
cont'd.

Read the paragraph about systemd-resolved. If you still don't have a problem with systemd get out.
>>
>>57052865
>>57052873
And you're missing the point, any user, privileged or not, can run this command and crash PID 1.
>>
>>57052968
Anyone can also run a forkbomb, privileged or not, the point is pretty fucking moot. Besides, this bug was patched and closed.

>>57052968
>posts an article specifying the topic surrounding the command that crashed PID 1 with a similar methodoloy that's been around since the dawn of unix
>changing the goal posts with systemd-resolved argument

How does this one thing that got fucked up somehow make the entirety of systemd bad? You're cherry picking some bugs that can be quick fixes and labeling it as a terrible system because of it.
>>
>>57052433
What's en EL server?
>>
>>57053182
I think he's referring to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
>>
>>57053152
The systemd-resolved paragraph had nothing to do with bugs, you jackass. It's about the fact that systemd is attempting to replace and push out other, better DNS resolvers and keep them out by doing things like using DBUS instead of the standard port 53 for DNS, with the sole purpose of sinking its claws into the linux ecosystem and never letting go. If systemd wants to replace all other init systems and it can do a better job, let it, but there is no reason it needs to cover network management, DNS, etc. and fuck it all up in the process, especially when fucks like Poettering not only fail to patch known bugs and exploits but intentionally avoid following standards and best practices with something as crucial to security as DNS. Like I said, get out.

No, but I use RHEL and CentOS
>>
>>57051978
Yep. It's pretty good.
>>
What are the pros of Fedora vs Ubuntu and openSUSE for desktop?
>>
>>57051978
I've tried it a few times, but I always come away feeling epically frustrated because something basic fucks up due to crashing, working weirdly, or just selinux.
>>
Yes. I like it so far.
>>
>>57051978
Yes, it's based as fuck.
>>
if i wanted a systemd mess i'd use debian.

apt-get is better than yum. debian has many more available packages. fedora is perpetually alpha-quality
>>
Yeah, works better than Ubuntu on my Memepad.
>>
>>57057327
>yum
get with the time grandpa we use dnf now
