How do I stop the automatic downloading and updating that windows 10 forces on you?
I'm on my work laptop and so far I've been able to circumvent the update shutting off and turning on my laptop rapidly so it "fails", as in giving me an error message and will "try again later".
you are using windows 10 you faggot
>implying you have options or will have options
Jesus, will you faggots ever learn?

>How do I stop the automatic downloading and updating that windows 10 forces on you?
you uninstall windows 10.
Note that 7 and 8.1 get bundled updates now, so you don't get to pick out only the security patches and skip the telemetry and bullshit, it's all or nothing. If you find this unacceptale then it's time to switch to Linux.
>he posted it again
It wasn't a meme. You literally can't stop it. You have less control than ever with Windows 10.
hey, why haven't you dudes gotten your Lenovo Book yet
you should step off my planet, yo, if you haven't

Are any of the FreeBSD derivatives like PC-BSD and ghostbsd worth my time or should I just stick with regular FreeBSD?
>>57061423
About openBSD:
1- Does it need lots of resources?
2- Is it easy to use?
I'm thinking of having a small partition, or maybe a VM, with openBSD where I can do/write/store my private and personal stuff.
Or should I stick to a VeraCrypt container, or maybe another distro?
>whole mbr/gpt options dont ask fo confirmation

for fuck's sake
All this discussion about the alleged impending doom of 4chan had me thinking about a way to run website content in a p2p environment.
Turns out it's already been done:

Couldn't hiroshima nagasaki migrate the imaging to this system? There's already so many shit posters here, that seeding wouldn't be a problem.

This is the biggest piece of shit ever developed. How can someone fail so much?
A 3GB file transfer is failing the 3rd time for me.

Use SMB protocol instead.

This or ftp.
Never thought I'd ever say it but on a phone it's actually a better idea to copy files around over wifi then over cable.

This deal ends in 5 hours , so I'm debating it now
Curious about this as well.

there's no way they can make profit on that even at a large scale so they're most likely selling user data, cheapest and best option is rent a VPS and setup your own vpn server
fishy af
I wouldn't use an untrustworthy VPN even for free
I'd like to switch to a free and secure OS, but I have some concerns about the security of GNU/Linux systems:
- The kernel. Linux itself evolves fast and security isn't a priority. Grsecurity somewhat mitigates this, but AFAIK no distro comes with it by default.
- X.Org. X doesn't provide isolation between programs. If any program is compromised (which can easily happen with browsers or unmaintained internet-facing packages), it has access to all other programs, can record keystrokes, etc. X also runs as root. Wayland prevents most of this, but it isn't finished yet.
- systemd. It's practically mandatory on almost all modern distros, but it has a very large attack surface for PID 1 and its developers have a "we don't make mistakes" attitude, which isn't very good for security. Example: https://www.agwa.name/blog/post/how_to_crash_systemd_in_one_tweet
My ideal distro would be one that uses a hardened kernel (or at least allows you to without too much hassle), uses Wayland and doesn't use systemd, though I realize this is becoming increasingly not very feasible.
Is there any distro that fits these criteria? If not, which is the easiest one that can be used as a base for this?
Windows atrocious security has rendered you paranoid.
Install whatever distro you think is nice and relax.
>>57060972
That systemd flaw was patched by the time the story broke, and it's seriousness was grossly exaggerated.
>>57060972
>no distro comes with it by default.
Not an issue
>any program is compromised (which can easily happen with browsers or unmaintained internet-facing packages), it has access to all other programs, can record keystrokes, etc
Tomoyo, jails
>https://www.agwa.name/blog/post/how_to_crash_systemd_in_one_tweet
See webm. No software is bugfree and systemd has hotpatching
Something's not right here.
Who took this base out?

Today i was having a discussion with my teacher, where he claimed that C# is one of the greatest languages to ever exists, and it is one of the most demand on the market these day.
Microsoft is still alive? Dying? Explain.
He's right
>Microsoft is still alive? Dying? Explain.
Are you living under a rock? .NET is alive and better than ever
>>57060662
Okay, still no explanation on sight.
I just feel like - why not teach youngsters C++/Java instead?
>>57060637
It's only going to get better now that a big chunk of .NET and the C# compiler are free and open-source.
>Microsoft is still alive? Dying? Explain.
We now have a full POSIX subsystem on Windows through Ubuntu as a form of embracement of the open-source community by Microsoft. It's only a matter of time until they extend it, then extinguish the entirety of GNU/Linux.
Now that they fixed everything, can we all agree that Windows 10 is a great operating system.
Its the most popular for millennials aKa the technocrati generation who live in this future blade runner esque lifestyle of growing up in the internet age. Win10 is the choice of a new generation.
What's with the excess of paid shilling going on today? What happened that made Apple and Microsoft feel they had to shift their paid viral marketing team into overdrive?
Don't reply, just report.

>>>/v/
What's the deal about it?
Why does it attract so many hipsters?
I have never written a single line in it. Is it worth learning?
>>57060486
37signals made a web framework that isn't a mess like PHP. Since you don't have to be a neckbeard to pick it up in your free time, hipsters and SJWs pick it up because it makes more money than whatever trashy degree or alternativee college experience qualifies them for(which is fuck all except for coffee, music or, clothes stores). See vid to get the info firsthand..
https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=vub92ivnoPw
It was the node of its time.
However, you have to give it credit. It showed the world how web development should be done and how horrible PHP actually is.
Anyone remember why they picked Ruby for the Rails framework? Why didn't they just use a mainstream language like Python instead?
Is there a video equivalent of something like picasa that would let me add keywords/tags to videos. Something that will make it so that upon completion, I can search for videos that match a specific tag?
I have no idea what a "picasa" is, but:
>install KDE
>tag files
>find them using the Baloo file indexer
I want her manjaw around my manmeat
also
>not having a file system capable of tagging

I work with multimedia in windows. I don't have any apple systems either.
>tfw you have to increase the amount of processes that are allowed to crash in parallel to use KDE
why is escaping the GUHNOME so hard /g/
No you don't, jesus fuck.
GNOME devs sure are insecure about peopole leaving their shitty desktop and have to FUD and lie about others.
>>57060470
>no you don't
oh ok
then the multiple kernel log entries about QThread segfaulting followed byQThread over core_pipe_limit
are just pretend
the fact that I had to do a sysctl -w kernel.core_pipe_limit=8 (up from 4) which solved the issue
is just FUD as well
the fact that the system setting panel has crashed at least 4 times that I remember in the past 24 hours
is FUD
thanks for clearing that up
using 5.7 on Fedora 24 stable (but that is the issue right?)

I hear people complain about the current stage of youtube and that youtube is becoming more of an SJW centralized haven as for demonitizing videos and nass flagging non Cucked channels. Why hasn't anyone looked into Vidbit.co ? Its old youtube, and they dont censor and you can make money off ads here.
